She likes to snuggle and sit on your foot. She doesn't like to be alone for too long because she loves her people. I can't give her the attention she needs any more. She needs to be somewhere with people and no dogs or cats. I hope someone can help. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Poppy is a great all around family dog and one who you will be proud to call 'Our girl.' Her foster says 'She is a total sweetheart', and she gave us a great write up on Poppy, so you can get to know her before you ever see her.  Poppy is happiest when lying in the sun or napping next to you on the couch. She also likes to sleep at the end of the bed next to your feet.  She is completely housetrained and has never had an accident in the house (she currently enjoys the freedom of a fenced in yard for potty breaks). She will let you know when it is time to play with her tennis ball or go for her daily walk to explore the neighborhood by giving you a look and a bark. Unfortunately, she has issues with smaller dogs and has bitten them when provoked or feeling jealous, so no smaller dogs in her new family. She plays well with bigger dogs and goes to doggy daycare twice a week for socialization, where the staff absolutely adores her. She currently lives with a 70lb coonhound mix who she likes to play with. Poppy came to us three years ago with severe separation anxiety issues but has come a long way and does well for a few hours in her “indestructible” crate – just give her a peanut butter-filled Kong and she will do okay while you go out for a bit. Poppy is looking for a home where she can be the center of your world and she will repay you with unconditional love and companionship. What makes Poppy great… ·         Relatively low energy dog who just enjoys being with her owner(s). She has bouts of energy and will want to play fetch but never for too long. ·         Zero food aggression. She eats when she is hungry, and she loves to savor her treats and thinks ice cubes are the best treat ever! ·         Loves to go on walks and they don’t have to be super long – 10-15 minutes a night keeps her happy, but will happily join you on a longer walk when possible. ·         LOVES people and will happily greet your guests with enthusiasm. She has been around small children with no issues. ·         Well socialized with dogs her size or bigger by going to doggy daycare twice a week (and will be zonked out all night after a day of playing). However, she seems to be more interested in people than other dogs in general. ·         Knows basic commands like sit, shake and come. ·         She is great in cars. She will chill out in the back seat and just enjoy the view. ·         Overall very healthy with no major issues. Where Poppy has some challenges… ·         Separation anxiety – would not do well for long days without someone home – highly recommended that she be crated while alone to avoid any damage to property. ·         Aggression toward smaller dogs – when feeling jealous or annoyed. ·         Good on leash but could use more training/reinforcement as she will get overly excited (pulling, barking) when she sees another dog.   Full of life and love, she is all ready to be yours. She has had a complete vetting and has all her shots. All she needs now to complete her world is for you to clip on your leash, bend over, and say 'Let's go home, Poppy'. If you are interested in Poppy, please fill out an application at: https://reachoutrescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=4588    Or contact: rorrcanine@gmail.com   *** Click here to sponsor this dog! ***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 26, 2025, 1:57 am

Story
The BasicsMy name is Malcolm and on my last birthday I turned 10 years old. I am a handsome boy who LOVES a good tennis ball. The Good Stuff-My best trick: Wiggling my butt! I love to show off my toys.-Me in three words: Shy at first, sweet, playful-My absolute favorite thing to do in the world: Play with toys! -What I dream about when I dream about my perfect person or family: A family that wants to create lots of great memories with me! I can be a little timid so the staff can go over the acclimation process for a new pup in the home. I have met a few dogs in play group here and have done well with those dogs!Interested in meeting me? We recommend submitting a general online adoption application and then heading to the shelter during our normal adoption hours (Monday: 12-4pm and Tuesday thru Sunday: 12-5pm) to meet our available animals. *Please note: all applications are considered general until the animal has been met. If you have any questions, please contact animalcenter@bmorehumane.org or 410-833-8848 Ext/Opt 2.*

Indigo is a big-hearted sweetheart with an incredibly loving and gentle soul. She is affectionate, eager to please, and thrives on human connection. With kids, she is especially joyful—she loves greeting them and often shows her excitement with wagging tails, happy body language, and sweet kisses. She grew up around kids and absolutely adores them. Her playful spirit really shines when she’s outside, where she adores running around the yard, chasing balls, and proudly carrying sticks like little treasures. In fact, she does the cutest “gazelle” hops just from pure excitement!  With adults, Indigo does best with slow, calm introductions, though she is certainly curious of new people. New situations and unfamiliar people can sometimes feel overwhelming for her at first, but once she has time to settle in and build trust, she forms deep, loyal bonds and becomes an incredibly devoted companion. She is extremely motivated, responsive, and genuinely wants to make her people happy. Indigo does well greeting other dogs in public settings, though she also needs slow and controlled introductions as well. She would thrive best as the only dog in a household. She enjoys being the center of attention and benefits from having consistent affection and one-on-one time, which allows her to feel secure and confident in her environment. Overall, Indigo is a loving, playful, and loyal dog who has so much affection to give. With patience, understanding, and a calm home, she will reward her future fur-ever family with endless love, joy, and companionship.
