Story
Hello! My name is Hillary aka CoCo! I am a super sweet Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I am about 3 years old and weigh approximately 62 pounds. I have a lot of energy! I love going for walks but sometimes I get distracted by squirrels, birds and humans. Sometimes I pull and need to be corrected. I LOVE going to the park. I run and run and run. I have made many friends-mainly my foster sister, Bosco. We play and play and play until my foster mom has had enough. I have a boyfriend in the neighborhood and his name is Moses. He too is a golden/Chesapeake combo. We see each other and give kisses. I also have 2 other boyfriends that Moses does not know about-Yogie, who is a Rhodesian ridgeback, and Leo, who is a German shepherd. We are always having play dates!! Oh… I forgot Knuckles-the neighbors bulldog. Knuckles was kind of in my face. But I dog-checked him and we are good. So bossy that one! My foster mom has said I have made a TON of advances. When I was placed with her, I would not eat dog food or eat snacks. I now LOVE dog food; and eat tons of snacks. I LOVE bananas, sweet potato, green beans-and of course dried beef liver and dried chicken. I was super skinny-but I have gained weight!! I was also not house trained. I now go outside and do my business. I feel bad because I was so confused before. But my foster mom has been great and I love her with all my heart!!! At some point, I think I was water deprived, so I am a water gorger. Mostly I just eat ice now. I love it and its my go-to. But sometimes I will gorge at the park, and then forget and make a mess in my house. I have to remember that eating ice means going potty outside. And drinking water also means going outside. One time, my foster mom took me to the drive through at Bojangles. I hated it!! I barked at the lady taking my order and then I would not eat a Bo-round. My foster mom was shoving that thing in my face the whole 2 blocks home. First, she shouldn’t be going to fast food, and second, not everyone likes fast food. She tried that same crap when we went through the drive through to get “the Lord’s chicken.” I’m just not a fan of waffle fries. I am not kennel trained. But there is really no need for me to be. I have only chewed on approved dog toys and when I nap-I am either on the couch or on the dog bed. My foster mom got a camera to keep a watch on us when she is away. She was bummed when she found out that me and Bosco mainly just sleep on the couch. I haven’t done anything bad, not compared to Bosco. She’s the one that needs training. One thing I taught Bosco was to look out the window. I love the window and love watching what is happening outside. And Bosco taught me to fetch!!! I’m kind of still new at it, but love a good ball launch!! When we went to the park the other day, I played with the neighbor kids. I just love them!! I am always down for snuggles. And I snuggle hard. I love having my ears petted and generally having quiet time. I just want to be loved!!!

Story
Dog Day Out notes, 4/29/24:Hulk is the sweetest and most affectionest baby. He wouldn`t get in the car so I had to lift him into the back seat, immediately he jumped into the front and wanted to lay in my lap or lean against me. He had no problem getting out of the car and was very excited to enjoy our day together. We walked Lake Michael and he did great on the leash with minimal pulling. He loves to smell, so we did a lot of sniffing and a lot less walking which was fine. We enjoyed our surroundings, meeting dogs and people as we walked along. We also went to Great Bend Park and enjoyed walking and the waterfall. We even got chance to get our paws wet! Hulk is such a sweet dog, not a sound out of him, just lots of tail wags and smiles. Volunteer notes, 4/24/24:There are so many nice dogs at the shelter but Hulk just might be my favorite. I can`t possibly visit without taking him out for some playtime. He is truly an all-around excellent dog. He is playful yet calm, energetic yet attentive, and immediately people-friendly without requiring any special handling. We walked him on leash today and after some initial hesitation at the front door, he did beautifully--no pulling at all. He has such a sweet face and waits so patiently to be taken out; I can`t understand how someone hasn`t scooped him up yet.Volunteer notes, 4/18/24:We loved spending time with Hulk in the play yard today! He was calm and well-behaved on the leash. He was interested in the dogs around him but able to be redirected. He knew `sit` and took treats gently but wasn`t overly treat motivated. He was active and playful but also laid down for lots of pets. Such a nice boy and very smart!

Story
Well, I guess it is time for me to finally leave foster care. Although I love it here & am very, very comfortable, my foster mom told me she can not continue to save dogs if I stay & I know I have long lost cousins that still need saving! So I am ready for my forever couch... I mean home! My name is Charlie and I am the longest resident of It Takes A Village Rescue. I take that title very, very seriously but my foster mom says I shouldn't as forever is much better than foster! I am sweet, cuddly & am the perfect boy to start of cozy season with! I love humans... they are so cool! I mean, who doesn't! I need to tell you a couple things that my foster mom says are good boy things... I am house trained & crate trained! I am way better than a puppy who still pottys inside.. that is so last year. Looking for a loyal companion who loves long walks on the beach, netflix and cuddles?! Well, I am your boy! I would love a fenced yard & to be either the only dog in the house or with a submissive female dog... I just want all your attention! That really should not be too much to ask for a handsome boy like me! Right?! Please apply to adopt me, I would love a home for Christmas! Story
Dude was found on the side of the road in very poor condition by a vet tech technicians and has been fostered with a veterinarian for the last couple of months. He is much healthier now, fully vaccinated and neutered. Dude is a super smart, higher energy and who would love a house to be a jogging partner or someone who will throw a ball again and again. Dude is highly food motivated so he is easy to train, but he is still only about 1 year old so he also forgets easily. He loves to chase things like squirrels and sparrows and cats. He is good with medium sized dogs but little dogs hes just too rough for. Not aggressive just doesnt realize his own size. (30lbs and up). At full adult weight, he will probably be about 50-55lbs of loving, even tempered pup. Crate trained, not averse to men or women. Would supervise around young children do to energy level. All our dogs/cats are vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, on preventions, and spayed/neutered if old enough. Story
Bella came to rescue with her litter of 6. She is a petite mix under 40 lbs. Bella is great with kids, even young kids. She is also good with other dogs. She lives with a foster kitty but will sometimes get too excited. So probably best without an indoor kitty sibling. She is a smart girl who potty trained quickly and is working on basic commands. She is also crate trained. All our dogs/cats are vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, on preventions, and spayed/neutered if old enough.
