Story
Hello! My name is Hillary aka CoCo! I am a super sweet Chesapeake Bay Retriever. I am about 3 years old and weigh approximately 62 pounds. I have a lot of energy! I love going for walks but sometimes I get distracted by squirrels, birds and humans. Sometimes I pull and need to be corrected. I LOVE going to the park. I run and run and run. I have made many friends-mainly my foster sister, Bosco. We play and play and play until my foster mom has had enough. I have a boyfriend in the neighborhood and his name is Moses. He too is a golden/Chesapeake combo. We see each other and give kisses. I also have 2 other boyfriends that Moses does not know about-Yogie, who is a Rhodesian ridgeback, and Leo, who is a German shepherd. We are always having play dates!! Oh… I forgot Knuckles-the neighbors bulldog. Knuckles was kind of in my face. But I dog-checked him and we are good. So bossy that one! My foster mom has said I have made a TON of advances. When I was placed with her, I would not eat dog food or eat snacks. I now LOVE dog food; and eat tons of snacks. I LOVE bananas, sweet potato, green beans-and of course dried beef liver and dried chicken. I was super skinny-but I have gained weight!! I was also not house trained. I now go outside and do my business. I feel bad because I was so confused before. But my foster mom has been great and I love her with all my heart!!! At some point, I think I was water deprived, so I am a water gorger. Mostly I just eat ice now. I love it and its my go-to. But sometimes I will gorge at the park, and then forget and make a mess in my house. I have to remember that eating ice means going potty outside. And drinking water also means going outside. One time, my foster mom took me to the drive through at Bojangles. I hated it!! I barked at the lady taking my order and then I would not eat a Bo-round. My foster mom was shoving that thing in my face the whole 2 blocks home. First, she shouldn’t be going to fast food, and second, not everyone likes fast food. She tried that same crap when we went through the drive through to get “the Lord’s chicken.” I’m just not a fan of waffle fries. I am not kennel trained. But there is really no need for me to be. I have only chewed on approved dog toys and when I nap-I am either on the couch or on the dog bed. My foster mom got a camera to keep a watch on us when she is away. She was bummed when she found out that me and Bosco mainly just sleep on the couch. I haven’t done anything bad, not compared to Bosco. She’s the one that needs training. One thing I taught Bosco was to look out the window. I love the window and love watching what is happening outside. And Bosco taught me to fetch!!! I’m kind of still new at it, but love a good ball launch!! When we went to the park the other day, I played with the neighbor kids. I just love them!! I am always down for snuggles. And I snuggle hard. I love having my ears petted and generally having quiet time. I just want to be loved!!!

Story
Volunteer notes, 4/18/24:We loved spending time with Hulk in the play yard today! He was calm and well-behaved on the leash. He was interested in the dogs around him but able to be redirected. He knew `sit` and took treats gently but wasn`t overly treat motivated. He was active and playful but also laid down for lots of pets. Such a nice boy and very smart!

Story
Hi! My name is Dottie and I'm a 40lb ball of joy! Just look at my smiling face... I'm a social pup and I love all people, including kids! I get along really well with other dogs, too! I'm still a little scared of cats. My foster family has a bunny in a crate and I sometimes like to sniff her, but mostly I just ignore her. I love going on walks and I do great on a leash! If I do have some energy left, tug-of-war is my favorite. I'm not protective over food, toys, or even attention (although I like all three). I love sleeping in my crate all night and sometimes I like to hang out in it to take a little rest. I ALWAYS go potty outside! I have seen a vet, have all my vaccines and my microchip. I have also been spayed. I am heartworm positive, but treatment will be curative and is covered by Peak Lab Rescue at our vet in Apex. I'm a recent mother of ten(!) and I've been on maternity leave these last few months. Mama dogs are always the most grateful to be adopted and reward you with a lifetime of loyalty. I am beautiful inside and out. Please adopt me and give me all the love I deserve!

Story
Hey there, I'm Kari! Roughly 2-3 years old, but who's counting? I'm a big pawed girl checking in at just over 60 lbs. I'm spayed, chipped and up to date on my vaccinations. I'm thrilled to join Peak Lab Rescue as foster care has been the highlight of my life. I check all the boxes for being a great family addition. I wait patiently by the door when nature calls, and enjoy a peaceful slumber in a comfy bed ALL NIGHT LONG. Crate training? Nailed it. I'm friendly with other dogs. From my long stay in foster care, I've easily adapted to different households and have lived with different dogs, a cat, 3 ducks and a 5 year old human. I'm kind to everyone and every thing, and perfectly content to just chill. Foster Mom says I have a "Fan Club! I'm eager to please, quickly learning commands like "sit," and shake. I love a little attention, but no drama here - I'm a quiet, unflappable companion. While kids are cool, they'll need to understand my quirks, like my eagerness for treats (especially apple slices!). I'd LOVE a kid with a good throwing arm as "fetch is my THING! I'm particularly fond of getting out and Foster Mom is sure to take me on walks and hikes. I tested HW positive and my procedure requires 30 days of limited activity. This gives us PLENTY of time to get to know each other better. I'll be ready for summer and we can resume longer walks. Foster pawrents say dogs like me always find their people, so I'm patiently waiting for you to come scoop me up. Follow my journey on IG at the246.fosterdogs, and when Peak sends you foster mom's number, give her a call. She's eager to chat about how I'll make the perfect addition to your family.

Story
Hi there, I'm Abby! I'm a 1-2 year old bubbly pup who is full of love and always up for playtime. I'm a petite lab who is the perfect size to go for walks. I've mastered the art of being a good housemate. Yep, I'm house trained and crate trained already! I've been told I'm great with cats, having spent some fun times with some feline friends during my foster stay. I haven't meet a dog I didn't like. I'm good with kids but have to be reminded to keep all four paws on the ground. I sleep through the night in my crate without a peep. I'm a fan of fetch, absolutely adore my chew toys and walking me is a breeze. I am heart worm positive but I am scheduled for curative treatment in early May (costs covered by PLR at our vet in Apex). I have already been spayed and micro-chipped. Please come meet me and find out how sweet and special I am.
