Story
GOOD BOY ALERT! Meet Rowdy!Rowdy is a 7-year-old, 69-lb mixed breed who may have a little Chesapeake Bay Retriever and Rottie in himbut hes 100% good boy. Hes house trained, leash trained, crate trained, and obedience trained, and good with other dogs, cats and kids, making him an easy addition to the right home.Rowdy has never met a strangerevery person is a new best friend! He loves other dogs and enjoys running, playing, and chasing tennis balls (returning them is optional ). Despite his size, hes convinced hes a lap dog and makes an excellent cuddler. Because he can forget how big he is, hed do best with older kids and a fenced yard. His temporary Foster family said he is the absolute best. They are so excited for whatever family chooses to adopt and he did amazing with their dog and cat! Hes gentle with treats and happiest when hes near his people. If he feels ignored or has to wait too long to go out, he may borrow a shoe or sock to get your attentionbut he is fully house trained. Rowdy loves comfy couches and would make a great couch buddy. He is always the star at petstore events, becoming our official greeter. This sweet, social boy is used to being in a home and would love one againespecially with a canine friend to play with.Interested? Story
Meet This Playful Little Lady! This 5-month old lab/terrier mix is a fun-loving pup weighing in at about 22 pounds - and still growing into her personality. She loves playing with other dogs and would be thrilled to have a canine friend in her home or regular playdates.  She's working on potty training and her crate training is going well. She's a smart girl who's is eager to learn! We think this sweet, playful girl would do best in a home where she can get regular playtime and love. We do not think she would do well in an apartment.  Honey is dog-friendly, curious about cats (wants to play, not harm), and she love playing with rolls of toilet paper.    ##2619879##

Story
This beautiful 5-month old girl, currently around 15 pounds is going to be a very sweet addition for a very lucky family. She's still learning about the world and will need a patient, understanding home to help her build confidence. She can be timid with noises--especially outdoors, but is gaining confidence everyday. She can be shy with new people at first, but warms up quickly.  She absolutely loves being close to her humans and thrives on companionship. She'd love to have another dog in the home (big or small) to play with, cuddle, and help her feel more secure. Hazel is incredibly loving and affectionate so make sure you are prefared for a dog with no boundaries.  A few things to know - Hazel has serious hops, like she's on springs! We strongly recommend a securely fenced yard and someone committed to training her with recall. She'd do best with someone who is home more often than not, though we believe she'll continue to adjust and get more used to being alone with age. She is still working on potty and crate training, but she is making progress! If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion and are willing to help her learn about the world, she could be the perfect fit!  ##2619875##

Story
Name: Meet Turks! Gender: Male Age: 2 years Current Weight: 69 lbs Breed: Lab Mix Energy Level: Medium Dog Friendly: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog Cat Friendly: Unknown Kid Friendly: Yes to kids 8 years old or older Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks/exercise Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home/Adopter: Turks’ ideal home would be with an adopter who understands that trust takes time and is happy to let him warm up at his own pace. He is gentle and sweet with kids, but his size can be overwhelming for little ones. His people should enjoy daily walks and playtime, but also appreciate a dog who can settle and relax. He has a loud bark and likes to have space to run so a house with a yard is preferred over an apartment. Most of all, Turks is looking for a family who will offer consistency, kindness, and a safe place to land—once he knows he’s home, his loyal, loving personality truly shines. Likes: Chewing on toys, belly rubs, treats, playing fetch and tug, going for walks, car rides, zooming in happy circles around the yard, meal time, and snuggling Dislikes: Turks can take a little time to warm up to new people, especially men. He prefers to approach on his own terms and appreciates when new friends give him space to come over, sniff, and get comfortable first. He can be sensitive to loud or unexpected noises (like a garage door), but once he understands what’s happening and what to expect, he settles in and does just fine. What makes this dog special: Turks looks every bit the classic Lab—with a heart just as big. He’s the kind of dog who may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, you’ve got yourself a loyal, goofy, affectionate best friend. Turks is fully potty trained and an A+ crate dog. His crate is his safe place and he happily sleeps from 10pm–8am, quietly and without a peep. He can also settle in his crate for several hours during the day, making him a great fit for a home with a predictable schedule. He’s lived with other dogs in the past and is currently thriving as the only dog in his foster home, so we think he’d do well in either a single-dog or multi-dog household. We don’t know how he feels about cats yet. Turk is gentle and sweet with kids, though because of his size and the fact that he’s still polishing his manners (hello, enthusiastic greetings!), a home with older kids might be best. This boy is smart and eager to learn—he’s progressing with basic commands and continues to impress us daily. He loves car rides, enjoys going for walks (he’s still learning not to pull or zig-zag), and has a medium energy level. A daily walk plus some playtime is his sweet spot. Turks is truly a special dog who just needs a patient, loving home to help him continue building confidence and trust. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a gentle soul and a playful streak, Turks might just be your perfect match. Turks' adoption fee is $350. All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##2639096##
