Story
T-Bone came to us when his family could no longer care for him. He is estimated around 9 years old and is approximately 12 lbs. He is doing well with the potty routine in his foster home - going outside when his foster dad is home and using puppy pads when he is away at work. He enjoys his yard time and is a big fan of treats! He does have some mild food protectiveness but that is understandable given that there was not enough food at his former home. T-Bone does pretty well on a leash. He does great in a crate and ok in the car. He is timid but very affectionate once he warms up and knows you are safe. He is generally not a big barker. T-Bone is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and also had bloodwork done which looked good! Story
Squirrel and Chipmunk are two adorable, bonded chihuahua girls who came to Cherished Tails in early December from Arizona Humane where they were at risk of euthanasia for medical reasons. They have been vetted and both have had surgery to remove mammary tumors and get dentals. Both are healing well and ready to start looking for their forever home. Squirrel is a tiny 5.5-lb cream-colored nugget who loves to cuddle with Chipmunk or on your lap. She burrows under the covers at night and sleeps right by your side. She is a good little watch dog and will let you know when the Amazon man comes but is not overly vocal. Squirrel doesn't love walking on leash and prefers to be carried. She is good with people and other small dogs and has a waggy tail. She is just the sweetest little dog! Chipmunk is a 10-lb golden-red colored mix who loves to give kisses and cuddle with Squirrel. She is quieter than Squirrel and does walk on a leash but prefers to be a couch potato. She is gentle and good with kids and other people of all ages. She is also a cuddler in bed and dives right under the covers where she sleeps peacefully all night. She is a delight! Both of these bonded girls are estimated to be 8-10 years old, are good with other small dogs and with older, gentle children. They have been perfectly house-trained in their foster home. Their foster parents said that they have been two of the easiest dogs ever! They deserve a special home where they will be treasured. Story
Bonnie came to us when her owner took his own life leaving the dogs homeless. She is initially timid but has never show any signs of aggression at all and warms up quickly with kindness. Bonnie is 6 years old and weighs 14 lbs (could stand to lose a couple). Bonnie walks on a leash, is crate trained and uses the dog door like a pro. Bonnie seems to be a healthy girl and is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She has done really well with the other dogs in her foster home and is quiet and polite. We are unaware if she has lived with children or cats in the past but is a gentle girl and likely would do ok. Bonnie is trying to be brave and move past her trauma. Story
Annika came to us about 6 months ago from Yuma. She was VERY shy and has made some progress in foster but is still going to require patience and work in her forever home. She is still unsure of the leash and anxious about new situations. She is very devoted to her foster mom, has learned the joys of living indoors and is pretty well housebroken. She does well in a crate but is generally not destructive. She gets along with dogs of all sizes and ages and also has no issues with cats, and would likely be best in a home with other animals. Annika is around 2.5 years old and about 15 lbs. She is spayed, current on vaccines and microchipped and has no health concerns. She has not shown too much interest in toys (yet) and seems to thrive on routines. Meet and greets will need to be at her foster home (midtown Tucson). If you are interested in meeting Annika submit the application HERE ))) https://form.jotform.com/cherishedtails/dog-application

Story
Luna came to us from AHS when she was at risk due to her dental condition and patellas. Since coming to the rescue she has lost weight and her knees are much better and not causing any problems. When the vet evaluated her she did not feel that she would need any intervention as long as she continues to lose and maintain her weight. She was able to get dental surgery with many extractions and also had the fistulas repaired. Luna is estimated as 7 years old and is now around 12 lbs (ideal weight would be 11) Luna is timid but sweet and does great with other 4 legged friends. Once she gains trust she also likes to cuddle with humans. She has done well adjusting to the potty routine at her foster home and is mostly housebroken though does sometimes 'fear piddle'. She does fine in the crate though also has nice house manners. She walks pretty well on a leash and is cooperative about medication and handling. Story
Poppy is the sweetest little thing! She is easy (not demanding) and quiet. All she wants is a lap to sit on. She follows foster mom around and waits for her to sit down. She loves to be outside, likes to sun-bathe, and short walks. She would love to be an only child but would tolerate a friend that matches her slow and calm pace (no "busy" pups for her), She does well with small children as long as they are calm and gentle with her. She loves snuggling with the foster mom's granddaughters. She seems to be partially deaf but watches everything going on! She would do best in a quiet and calm home with people who are mostly home. She is very loving! Poppy has collapsing trachea and will probably need meds in the future and only has 6 teeth now so her tongue might hang out. Poppy has the cutest ears and softest fur ever! Petting her is great! She is estimated as 8 years old and is 12 lbs. She seems to do fine on a leash but recommend use of a harness because of her trachea. She is doing well with the potty routine and knows that I will open the door and let them out often, so she waits but she may also understand the doggy door. Poppy is fostering in Mesa AZ.
