Story
Sumi is a small older gal who is scared and insecure. Her previous home noted she only liked 2 people in the household and barked at everyone else. She is a dog that needs a routine and someone patient to work with her and help her feel safe. She puts up a big front with barking and attempting to bite but if you give her space and let her come to you she can really thrive. Her current set up is a playpen in my living room so she can see everyone in the house and learn they are not so scary. She has learned to sit to have a leash placed on her and walk outside to go potty. She is house broken and hasn`t had a single accident in the house. I walked the yard with her on the leash so she would get used to me being near her. After a few days of this routine she started exiting her playpen without leash and walking outdoors on her own, soliciting attention after using the bathroom. This is the perfect time to apply the medication she desperately needs because she has dry eye. She tolerates getting the ointment very well, but this is how someone previously got bit so may need a little practice. She has been a little defensive with dogs in the home but could be kennel reactivity since she wasn`t allowed to interact with them directly. She did accidentally meet one of my cats close up and she did very well. She sniffed and then walked away. She eats wet and dry food and takes her meds very gently in cheese. She tolerates being picked up and carried around but not her favorite thing, gets a little nervous. She loves the baby talk, sitting on the floor sweet talking her is a good way to get her on your lap and giving kisses. If interested please email pacc.adopt@pima.gov!

Story
Severus is a super sweet dog. He wants to be by his people. He is medical for neuroactivity and considered hospice. He left recently with a foster who believes he still has good quality of life. Severus LOVES CHEESE!!!! Cheese is his jam. Meds, slightly wrapped in Cheese is fine - we are eating it.Severus uses potty pads (I have the reusable/washable ones). He will let you know when he has to go!He will stand on his hind legs when he thinks you are going to pick him up (and he wants to be picked up).Severus is not a big fan of cats. When one of my cats 1st approached the pen - he immediately growled and snapped. That being said, I think he could learn to get along/co-exist with a cat or two - the longer he was with them the more leway he gave them. The hardest part is the random tremors that will send him all over the place and it is difficult to keep him from hitting his head. I recommend a soft space for him to relax in when you are gone. He would benefit from a lot of attention. If he had some sort of a very low doggie door he might go out to pee. It`s just difficult for him to get out there. If interested in helping this little man out, please email pacc.medicalfoster@pima.gov!
