Story
Meet Koko, a sweet senior Chihuahua looking for her forever home. Koko is a shy and timid girl who blossoms with a gentle and calm approach. She would thrive in a calm and quiet household where she can feel safe and loved. Koko has lived previously with other dogs, but would do well either on her own or with another senior dog that matches her size and energy levels. Like most small dogs, Koko's oral health has been compromised with age. She will be receiving a full dental while in our care - which may require a modified feeding plan of softened kibble and/or wet food. If you're looking for a loyal companion to share your peaceful moments with, Koko could be the perfect addition to your family. Give this lovely senior girl the loving home she deserves! Please note, Koko is currently in foster care. If you are interested in meeting Koko, submit an application today and staff members will reach out to arrange a meet! Primary Color: Brown Weight: 3 Age: 9yrs 1mths 2wks

Story
Connor is a 2 year old chihuahua mix rescued from a hoarding situation in California. (Dog hoarding) Connor is doing really well in his foster home with another little dog. We think he would do best in a home with another dog. He is very timid when you first bring him home, so he will need a patient family to help him get comfortable in the first few days, but he really has come such a long way since he first arrived. He's going on walks to the park now. Due to his timid nature we think it's best he goto a home without young children, too many fast movements might make him unsettled. We'd recommend a meet and greet with Connor. Applications are on our website to adopt. www.ihelpedsave.ca @ihelpedsave

Story
Would you be my Angel? DODIE You will find me an incredibly sweet-natured dog. I am a Chihuahua/Spitz mix, about 7 yrs old. I stand 16 inches at the shoulder and weigh 30 lbs.  It is unknown what originally happened to me, but due to a broken back my back legs are paralyzed. I have an awesome wheelchair that I LOVE to zip around in (especially outside!) and I'm a great walking companion. Currently, I take two 30 min walks a day which seems ideal for me. When I'm out on walks people seem to be amazed by me; my legs may be damaged but my spirit isn't! Many want to pet me (which is awesome) and they tell my foster mom what an angel she is for taking care of me. My foster mom thinks I'm a special girl and worthy of lots of love, for which I'm forever grateful. I would just love an angel to give me a home of my own forever. I walk at a steady pace. I even get a little zoomie energy and like to have a bit of a run, especially if one of those pesky squirrels are about! Otherwise, I like to take time to sniff the flowers, look up at the birds flying overhead and check out if there are any humans willing to pet me. If I get a little distracted, a little bit of encouragement is all I need to continue. I do like to nap a lot during the day or watch out of the window to see who is out and about. My green frog toy is my favourite thing, and will cuddle up with him to go to sleep at night in my 'play pen'. I LOVE snuggling on the sofa and will ask you to scratch my ears as I can't quite do it myself. I love playing with other dogs at the dog park and in the neighbourhood but I prefer to be with just my human when I'm at home. I tend to ignore cats as long as they don`t bother me. Kids are especially fun if they are old enough to know how to treat me well and give me lots of pets. I am extremely adaptable and very trusting right off the bat, which is rare in a dog that has been through so much! My past is still a mystery, but spending some time in Canada has already opened up my world.  I am so happy to be healthy and am trying to shed a little weight. I've heard my face is adorable and I can make humans laugh with my little pig-like snorts when I stretch. Yup, I'm really quite the character! Ok, I do sometimes snore... but it is the cutest thing ever. With my health in-check, I'm now learning about toys and how much fun they are: https://youtu.be/-KBzykd_RF0. My two main ways of moving myself around, (and I must say I'm pretty darn good at it!) are either dragging on my side/hip or pulling myself forwards in a sort of 'hopping' motion with my legs behind me. I can get some serious speed this way! I like having some rugs to walk on as it can be hard to get a grip on slippy floors. Also, how many dogs do you know that come with their own wheels?! I do...and wow, can I cover ground when I'm rolling down the sidewalk or grass! It would be nice (but not essential) if I had a yard, or at least some safe space/grass, for me to maneuver outside out of my wheelchair. I am able to toilet independently when in motion, I'd love to have access to a safe space to roam. My foster mom currently toilets me frequently during the day to avoid accidents; I am getting much better at letting her know when I need to go. We have a pretty good routine and with your support my infrequent accidents can be managed/avoided. My current foster mom will fill you in on how marvelous I am and how easy it is to guide me through my daily routines. If you want a spunky small guy with a zest for life and an infectious optimism, I'm the one for you! I would LOVE to meet you!! I have been spayed and am currently vaccinated & micro-chipped.My adoption fee is by donation. Story
Due to the present confrontational Middle East environment where this dog resides, airlines are minimally operating. He/She may therefore be delayed in arriving to Canada. He/She will eventually be sent, but we have no specified timeframe at this moment. If you are willing to wait, we and this dog appreciate your patience. Hello folks. My name is DAKAREE (Nabat) and here is a bit about me:Breed: Chihuahua and SpitzAge: 1-1/2 yrsGender: FemaleWeight: 6 KgHeight: 30 cm Being a happy girl, I'll be sure to put a smile on your face and make you feel happy too.My journey began on sandy shores in the Middle East. A family discovered me, initially thinking I was lost and in search of my family. However, a revelation from a supermarket worker painted a heartbreaking picture—a young couple had heartlessly abandoned me. Can you imagine that?Upon learning of my plight, a rescuer implored the compassionate discoverers to care for me temporarily, hopeful that I could secure a loving guardian within a week. The well-intentioned caretakers handed me over to a street sweeper. Unbeknownst to my rescuer, I spent a week in the sweeper's care before my discovery. With determination in her heart, my rescuer sought to retrieve me from the sweeper's hold, only to find out that he, too, unintentionally played a part in my temporary abandonment. A twist of fate led to the intervention of a kind mechanic who found me and offered me refuge in his mechanic shop.As my rescuer finally tracked me down, she could see the resilience in my eyes. She arranged a safe haven for me, providing a temporary refuge and stability—a haven I suredly deserved.I am such an amicable girl, though with a streak of feistiness. That spiritedness lends to my amazingly cute character. While I am quite alert, I can be a bit shy/timid to start. Give me a little time and I will pop out of my shell.I am improving greatly around men now too. They used to scare me, but I am now starting to realize they are nice too, so am ok with them. I'm good with other dogs, but have never been around cats yet, so unknown how I'd do with them. For the past five months, I have patiently awaited a loving family to welcome me into their hearts. Now, I am in Canada, so you can even meet me, once your application reaches approval status. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##1943186##

Story
Hi everyone, my name is Nosy. I am a four year old, female, 20 lb Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix who is in need of a new home. My family just had twins and are too busy now to spend any time with me. I am either kept in a kennel or alone outside. So I would love a new home where I will be a full member of the family once again.  I am a very loyal and loving dog who just loves to play. My family says I have a lot of energy but that could be in part because they can't give me the exercise I need. Nevertheless an active home will suit me best. It takes me awhile to trust a new dog, but once I am sure they aren't going to hurt me I am fine with them. While I may bark at a cat I see outside, I have met a cat inside a home and had no reaction. So I could likely easily live with a cat. I currently live with young children and am very good with them. (No video proof currently. ) I am housetrained. I currently live in the interior of BC but will be brought halfway to the lower mainland if an adopter is found for me there. I am spayed and up to date on my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $800. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. Hello Friends! My name is MADY (Ady) and here is a little info about me:Breed: Chihuahua mixAge: 2 yearsGender: FemaleWeight:  15 lbsHeight: 9 inchesCountry of origin: MexicoHighlights: Submissive, nervous, affectionate, eager to please Looking for a lap dog? I love affection once I feel safe. The M stands for mmm, mmmm, good, but I just go by Ady for short. My life began with my mama and siblings in the forest. Being very small, it was very difficult for us to survive out there. In the evenings we would go to the main road to look for food. A lady noticed us and started to bring us food. Since we were very scared, we didn’t allow this lady to touch us, but she kept returning to feed us for several weeks. One day while my brother was waiting for our mom to come back, he fell asleep under a parked car. Unfortunately the driver didn’t notice that my little brother was there when they started their car, and well.... my brother didn't survive.  The bustling world proved scary for us!  As a contsant in our lives, the kind lady with food kept returing to feed us and after sometime, we started to trust her, which was when she was able to bring us to live in the shelter.I can be a little nervous, since I am very small. Loud noises can still make jittery.I do so love being petted though. Once I build a bit of trust, which doesn't take long if you are not loud or fast moving with me. Then it's all peachy snuggle time. I am submissive, so won't bother another dog. I am fine with other dog. Cats, no clue. They might scare me more than the other way around. I have not really had any leash experience yet. Awaiting your loving arms. Energy Level : ModerateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknown Fears: nervous if someone approachs too fast. Story
Hello, My name is JULY and here is a little info about me:Breed: Chihuahua mix Age: 4 years oldGender: Male, neuteredWeight: 13 lbs Height: 11 I'm so happy to have caught your attention! I was born in 2020 in California and I ended up in a shelter. That shelter was scary and so crowded!  Sadly I was put on a list to be euthanized, and would have met that fate had resucers not stepped in!  Thankfully, resucers found me a foster family just days before I was scheduled to be euthanized. I've been staying at the foster home in California since June 2024, and I'm looking for my forever home. If you are looking for a silly, friendly, loveable small dog- look no further than my profile! Words from my foster family: July loves his toys and enjoys playing with other dogs. This silly guy is a real gem. Despite everything he has been through he is loving, easy going and adores people. He will jump onto your lap to cuddle. His tail never stops wagging! He likes to go for walks and when he gets tired, he likes to sleep on the couch. July is housebroken and leash trained, affectionate, and a wonderful dog. We want to give July his happy ending, with the care, love and attention that he deserves so much in his life. July can come to Vancouver very soon if he get adopted.  You will not find a nicer boy, please adopt him! Prey drive: unknown/not observed. My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. Fears: unknown/none observed. This dog's adoption fee is $850.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.
