Story
Would you be my Angel? DODIE You will find me an incredibly sweet-natured dog. I am a Chihuahua/Spitz mix, about 7 yrs old. I stand 16 inches at the shoulder and weigh 30 lbs.  It is unknown what originally happened to me, but due to a broken back, my back legs are paralyzed. I have an awesome wheelchair that I LOVE to zip around in, especially outside. I'm a great walking companion. Currently, I take two 30 min walks a day. This seems ideal for me. When I am out people seem to be amazed by me. Many want to pet me (which is the best) and they tell my foster mom what an angel she is for taking care of me, but she thinks I am special and worth lots of love. I would just love an angel to give me a home of my own forever. I walk at a steady pace and sometimes get a little zoomie energy and like to have a bit of a run, especially if one of those pesky squirrels are about! Otherwise, I like to take time to sniff the flowers, look up at the birds flying overhead and check out if there are any humans willing to pet me. If I get a little distracted, a little bit of a push is all I need to continue. I do like to nap a lot during the day or watch out of the window to see who is out and about, I have a green frog toy that is my favourite thing, and I will cuddle up with him to go to sleep in my 'play pen' at night. I LOVE snuggling on the sofa and will ask you to scratch my ears as I can't quite do it myself. I love playing with other dogs at the dog park and in the neighbourhood but I prefer to be with just my human when I'm at home. I tend to ignore cats as long as they don`t bother me. Kids are especially fun if they are old enough to know how to treat me well and give me lots of pets. I am extremely adaptable and very trusting off the bat, which is rare in a dog that has been through so much. My past is a mystery, but spending some time in Canada has already opened up my world.  I am so happy to be very healthy  and I am trying to get a little weight off. You may know the feeling if your appetite is as good as mine! Please note my adorable face and sometimes when I stretch, I'll snort a bit like a pig. Yup, I'm really quite the character. Ok, I do sometimes snore but it is the cutest thing ever. And I am learning about toys and how much fun they are: https://youtu.be/-KBzykd_RF0. My two main ways of moving myself around, (and I must say I'm pretty darn good at it!) is either dragging on my side/hip or pulling myself forwards in a sort of 'hopping' motion with my legs behind me. I can get some serious speed this way! I like having some rugs to walk on as it is hard to get a grip on slippy floors. Also, how many dogs do you know that come with their own wheels?! I do...and wow, can I cover ground when I'm rolling down the sidewalk or grass! It would be nice, but not essential, if I had a yard or at least some safe space/grass to maneuver outside out of my wheelchair too as I am able to toilet independently when in motion. My foster mom currently toilets me frequently during the day to avoid accidents but I am getting much better at letting her know when I need to go. I do have the occasional accidents, but am in a pretty good routine and my 'nature calls' are quite simple to arrange. My current foster mom will fill you in on how marvelous I am and how easy it is to guide me through my daily routines. If you want a spunky small guy with a zest for life and an infectious optimism, I'm the one for you! I would LOVE to meet you!! I have been spayed and am currently vaccinated & micro-chipped.My adoption fee is by donation. Story
Hello folks. My name is DAKAREE (Nabat) and here is a bit about me:Breed: Chihuahua and SpitzAge: 1-1/2 yrsGender: FemaleWeight: 6 KgHeight: 30 cm Being a happy girl, I'll be sure to put a smile on your face and make you feel happy too.My journey began on sandy shores in the Middle East. A family discovered me, initially thinking I was lost and in search of my family. However, a revelation from a supermarket worker painted a heartbreaking picture—a young couple had heartlessly abandoned me. Can you imagine that?Upon learning of my plight, a rescuer implored the compassionate discoverers to care for me temporarily, hopeful that I could secure a loving guardian within a week. The well-intentioned caretakers handed me over to a street sweeper. Unbeknownst to my rescuer, I spent a week in the sweeper's care before my discovery. With determination in her heart, my rescuer sought to retrieve me from the sweeper's hold, only to find out that he, too, unintentionally played a part in my temporary abandonment. A twist of fate led to the intervention of a kind mechanic who found me and offered me refuge in his mechanic shop.As my rescuer finally tracked me down, she could see the resilience in my eyes. She arranged a safe haven for me, providing a temporary refuge and stability—a haven I suredly deserved.I am such an amicable girl, though with a streak of feistiness. That spiritedness lends to my amazingly cute character. While I am quite alert, I can be a bit shy/timid to start. Give me a little time and I will pop out of my shell.I am improving greatly around men now too. They used to scare me, but I am now starting to realize they are nice too, so am ok with them. I'm good with other dogs, but have never been around cats yet, so unknown how I'd do with them. For the past five months, I have patiently awaited a loving family to welcome me into their hearts. Now, I am in Canada, so you can even meet me, once your application reaches approval status. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Story
Hello!! My name is Coco.  Here is some information about me:Breed: Chihuahua MixAge: 6 monthsGender: FemaleWeight: 28 lbsHeight: 19” tallHighlights: Sweet, independent but affectionate, dog friendly. Being a 6-month-old Chihuahua-mix, I’m a bundle of joy with a wagging tail a heart full of love.  I’m curious, friendly, and always up for an adventure, making me the perfect companion for all your escapades. I remember the day like it was yesterday, when our world changed forever. My sister and I were huddled together, shivering in the biting cold and our stomachs empty. We were caged outside, with no shelter from the harsh elements. Each day was a struggle, with only occasional scraps of food and water to sustain us. But then, out of nowhere, came the sound of footsteps approaching. Hope flickered within me as I saw kind faces, reaching out with gentle hands to rescue us from our misery. As they lifted us from that desolate place, I felt a rush of gratitude and relief wash over me, knowing that we were finally safe, together, with the promise of a better life ahead. I’m the brave one in our little pack, a rescue Chihuahua-mix with a personality as unique as my markings. Independence is my forte, but don't mistake it for aloofness; I have a heart that melts at the slightest sign of affection. Loving and kind, I find joy in playing with my sister and other foster pups, though I'll gracefully exit the scene if the roughhousing gets too rowdy. Toys are my passion, especially when it comes to a good game of tug of war with calmer dogs. However, I must admit, I have a bit of a weakness for chasing cats, though I mean no harm – it's just in my nature. Perhaps a home without feline friends would suit me best. Despite my old soul, there's still plenty of playful energy left in me, ready to brighten the days of my future family. If you are looking for a great small pup with perfect personaility look no further. I am your girl!!!!  Just fill out an adoption application for me and I will be on my way to Canada!!! Story
Hi everyone, my name is Nosy. I am a four year old, female, 20 lb Chihuahua/Jack Russell mix who is in need of a new home. My family just had twins and are too busy now to spend any time with me. I am either kept in a kennel or alone outside. So I would love a new home where I will be a full member of the family once again.  I am a very loyal and loving dog who just loves to play. My family says I have a lot of energy but that could be in part because they can't give me the exercise I need. Nevertheless an active home will suit me best. It takes me awhile to trust a new dog, but once I am sure they aren't going to hurt me I am fine with them. While I may bark at a cat I see outside, I have met a cat inside a home and had no reaction. So I could likely easily live with a cat. I currently live with young children and am very good with them. (No video proof currently. ) I am housetrained. I currently live in the interior of BC but will be brought halfway to the lower mainland if an adopter is found for me there. I am spayed and up to date on my vaccinations. My adoption fee is $800. Story
Are you in search of an itty-bitty snuggly lap dog? Meet little ROBBY! This adorable boy is Chihuahua mix, weighing 5 lbs. He is approx 9 years young and dreaming about a family of his own. Robby grew up in Mexico and had an owner for most of his life. Unfortunately he was very mistreated and neglected in the care of his owner. He was critically malnourished and underweight. He was also physical abused, being kicked and smacked. A few months ago, Robby's owner dumped him out on the streets. Our rescue partners in Guadalajara stepped in and brought Robby to safety. Robby quickly showed everyone that he’s the textbook definition of cuddle bug, a pup who just wants to feel safe with his people. He finds comfort and security in the arms of his humans. He enjoys sniffing around the yard but is certainly not a high energy dog. Giving and receiving affection brings him all the happiness in the world.  Robby can be shy and cautious initially. He is never aggressive, just timid. With his past history of abuse, he startles and squeals if you sneak up on him or rush up to him. He is wary of people's feet getting too close, likely due to his memories of being kicked by his former owner. But when he's in your arms, cozied up with you on the couch, he relaxes and soaks up the love.  Robby lived with many other doggies at the rescue shelter in Guadalajara. He got along wonderfully with his shelter mates and never showed any aggression, reactivity or fearfulness with them. Robby is now being fostered here in BC (Chilliwack) and lives with 5 resident doggies, 4 of whom are much larger than him. He very quickly and easily settled in with the pack and loves snuggling with all his new fur siblings. Robby would thrive with another dog (or even multiple dogs) in his forever home. He would also do best with a person/family who is home more often than not, such as someone who works from home or is retired. Robby is fine with kids, however we recommend kids age 10+ because of Robby’s tiny size. Robby will need practice with basic training as his former owner sadly did not invest any time into this. He is now pee pad trainied at his foster home.  Robby has been vet checked and is in great health. He had a good dental cleaning and a couple teeth pulled because his poor chompers were neglected for so long. His eyesight is is in tip-top shape.  VETTING:   Fully vaccinated.  Neutered.  Dewormed.  SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma).  Distemper negative.  Flea/tick/heartworm prevention.   **PLEASE NOTE: Robby is currently fostered in Chilliwack. Meet and greets can be arranged with applicants. ##1970735##

Story
Introducing little Bingo - ready for adoption! Bingo is a young, petite chihuahua mix, 1 year old, weighing about 9.5 lbs. He was surrendered into the care of our rescue partner in Mexico when his family could no longer afford to provide the supplies he needed to thrive. Bingo is a super affectionate and active doggie. He enjoys playing with his people and other dogs. Bingo does like to be active but is not a super high energy bounce-off-the-walls kinda guy. He likes long walks and toys that will keep him busy. His fun-loving spirit is one of his most charming traits! Bingo also gets along well with other dogs. He currently lives with many canine friends at the rescue shelter in Guadalajara and does just fine with all of them. He is good with kids too, but given his tiny size, we recommend kids age 8+. Bingo has not been tested with cats but we can request a kitty introduction if needed. In terms of his training, Bingo was house trained at his former home before the family surrendered him. Because he has now been at the rescue shelter for some time, he will need a refresher with house training. It shouldn’t take him long to pick this up again. He walks well on leash and is crate trained.  Bingo will be coming to BC (Langley) as soon as an adopter or foster is found to love on him when he arrives. Although he lost his first family, he’s ready for his second chance at forever happiness. VETTING:   Fully vaccinated.  Neutered.  Dewormed.  SNAP 4Dx negative (Heartworm, Lyme disease, Ehrlichia, and Anaplasma).  Distemper negative.  Flea/tick/heartworm prevention.  No known medical issues or injuries.   **PLEASE NOTE: Bingo is currently in Mexico. Hooooowdy. My name is BENN (Ben) and here's a tad about me:Breed: Pomeranian/Spitz mixAge: 4 monthsGender: maleHeight: 15 cmWeight: 2.5 kgHighlights: playful, smart, mischievious, energetic Hello everybody, cheeeeese... aren’t I just a cutie? Well, that’s what I hear people say about me and my smile.I was bought by a young man who intended to give me to his girlfriend. I must say, she would have been ecstatic to receive me as a gift. But unfortunately, I got parvo and he abandoned me at the clinic as a puppy. Needless to say, my life was turned upside down. Thankfully, my rescuer found out about me at the clinic and paid for all the expenses related to my treatment. I am completely healthy now. Thanks to her!I am currently living in a foster home. I have a foster mom and a foster kitten brother, Phishi (also posted.) My foster mom rescued a kitten that had some issues with the muscles in his legs and can’t walk well. We are very good friends! I love to play with my kitten brother, we are quite bonded: https://youtu.be/Lg6JjMA5KBs. So much so, that we'd love to be adopted together. Loved at Last said we can be a twofer. Adopt me and kitty comes along for the ride. How's that for a deal?I am extremely playful and mischievous, but also very smart. I learn everything extremely fast. Because I am so playful, I am constantly looking for toys and playmates, so I’m always chasing my kitten brother up and down the sofas, and he plays hide and go seek with me. Well, either that, or he’s running away from me HAH! We have lots of fun together!I would love to continue my shenanigans in Canada with you! I would make a great addition to any family. Story
Hi there! My name is Marigold, and I have quite the story to tell.   Breed: Pomeranian Spitz mix Age: 10 yearsGender: Male    Weight: 13 lb  Height: 13 inchHighlight(s): Affectionate, good with other dogs, no escape tendency I've been through a lot in my life, but I'm still full of love and hope for a new beginning. Despite being abandoned multiple times, my friendly and cuddly nature has not been affected. I may have had a rough start, but I believe there's a loving home out there waiting just for me. When it comes to humans, I'm a social butterfly. I adore attention and affection, and I have a soft spot for kids. I've even made friends with 8-10-year-old neighbors. However, I'm not a fan of vet visits – who is, right? Living with 7 other dogs has taught me to be polite and tolerant, but I prefer human companionship. I enjoy a leisurely walk and a game of ball, but I'm more of a people-person than a dog-person. When I see a cat, I get curious, but I'm easily redirected. I have a moderate energy level, so I'm up for outdoor adventures and cozy indoor cuddles. I walk well on a leash, although I may pull a bit out of excitement. I'm confident and brave on the streets, and I don't shy away from new experiences. I'm a good boy with no aggression issues or separation anxiety. I may bark for attention or to play, but I'm all tail wags and friendly vibes. I'm housetrained and don't get carsick. I'm currently working on my crate whining, but I'm a quick learner. All I need now is a loving family who will cherish me forever. Could that be you? If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion, I'm here waiting for you. Let's make happy memories together and create a forever home where I can truly belong. Adopt me, Marigold, and let's start our beautiful journey together! Energy Level: Moderate energy level. Enjoy outdoor activities and likes to rest/calm at home after walks. I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: yes Kids: yes (no video proof) Fears: Unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes: I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. According to the blood test done on Mar 15th, 2024, all my organs are quite healthy for my age. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##2016441##
