Hello! My name is Ginger. Here is a little about me:

Meet Ginger – A Gentle, Loving Little Companion
Hi, I’m Ginger, an 8-month-old fawn-coloured Chihuahua mix with a tender heart and a deep love for my people. My journey began in California, where I was found wandering on my own, and since then I’ve learned how comforting it feels to be safe and cared for.
I was adopted a few months ago, and while I am very loved, it’s become clear that I would do best in a calmer, more predictable home than a busy, multi-dog household. I’m a sensitive soul, and I truly thrive when life feels gentle and steady. Because of that, I’m now looking for a forever home that’s the right fit for me.
I am a sweet, affectionate, and cuddly girl who bonds deeply with my humans. My happiest moments are spent curled up somewhere warm—on a lap, beside you on the couch, or tucked into a cozy bed. My energy level is low to mid: I enjoy short bursts of play and zooming around for a few minutes, but then I’m perfectly content to settle back in and relax.
I’ll be honest—I can be a nervous girl. Sudden noises, quick movements, or changes in voice tone can startle me, and when that happens I may choose to hide until I feel safe again. With calm reassurance and a gentle approach, I settle nicely and show just how loving and trusting I can be.
I get along well with other animals who respect my space. I’m very submissive and do just fine with cats, and I enjoy calm dog friends. I especially like spending time outside in warm weather and visiting through the fence with the little dog next door—it’s one of my favorite pastimes.
I’ve been working hard on my training and know sit, down, go pee, and bedtime. I’m crate trained and happily go into my crate at night, though I feel most comfortable when I’m not completely alone. I do best on a consistent potty routine and with patient guidance as I continue learning.
Car rides can sometimes make me feel queasy, but medication has been very helpful and allows me to travel comfortably when needed. With a little planning, I can absolutely join you on outings and visits.
What I’m really hoping for is a loving, understanding home where my gentle nature is appreciated—someone who enjoys a close companion, values calm moments, and is happy to move through life at my pace. I promise to return that kindness with endless affection and devotion

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.
Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.
The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.
While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be charged the passenger fee in addition to this.
[MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.
