Story

Fender was surrendered to KKPR because his parents had to go to assisted living. They had him since he was a puppy. He misses his parents and only home he has ever known of 14 years and came here with severe separation anxieties, which have been improving with time. He has adjusted quite well with our gang. He was close to his father and immediately took to my husband. He loves car rides and walks. Even though he is 14 years old, he is spry and spunky. He was accustomed to going everywhere with his parents and we are hoping to find him a similar home. Although he did not previously sleep with his parents, he does enjoy sleeping in bed with us. Because he is a more mature gentleman, he should go to a home with no children or older children. He has done well with most cats that he has met. Although he is listed as a Boston Terrier, he was the runt and is the size of a Chihuahua. He is potty-trained and uses the doggie door. While she resembles a Chihuahua, her siblings had fluffier, wirey coats—so her mix is a mystery, but her charm is undeniable. This little girl is full of energy and personality! Chachi loves to run, romp, and wrestle with her foster brother (a French Bulldog) and enjoys zooming around the yard with her toys. She’s learning to walk on a leash and is discovering how much fun neighborhood strolls can be. Chachi would thrive in a highly active home with plenty of space to explore. A big, secure backyard is highly encouraged, as she loves to stretch her legs and play hard before snuggling up close. Lainey is a darling little chihuahua mix. She was born around 2/2024 and is currently 9 lbs. Lainey is happy, playful, affectionate and medium energy. She has a gentle, submissive, sweet way about her that is very endearing. She can be shy when meeting new people but has shown she will warm up with slow, gentle introductions and treats. Lainey likes playing with her toys and chewing on her chewy bones. She likes to explore in the yard and play chase with her dog buddies. She enjoys being with her people and desires to be a large part of her family’s life. She likely would not do well being left home alone daily for long hours. Lainey enjoys the company of other friendly, respectful dogs who are not overly dominant. She seems to prefer dogs around her size to play and romp around with. She will play with some larger dogs provided they are not overly rough. She does not enjoy rambunctious, wrestling type play but does love to play chase with other dogs. Lainey currently lives with well balanced dogs of all sizes and does well with them. She also lives with dog savvy cats and is respectful with them but she might challenge shy kitties and chase if they run. Children would likely overwhelm her so an adult only home is recommended. She really enjoys a yard so no apartments for her. She is crate trained, doing well with house training and learning to walk politely on a leash. He was given a shot at a better life and here he is!!!! Kramer is a happy little dude who just wants to sprinkle happiness all around! Since arriving at his foster Kramer has proven to be a happy and playful guy with dogs of all sizes. We are mastering a dog door. And we are getting the homelife potty training down! Born on October 16th, Aggie is a 27-pound snuggle nugget which is the perfect size for lap warming, bed hogging, and dramatically throwing himself into your arms like the star of a telenovela. With a gorgeous seal-colored coat, a heart of gold, and just enough goofball energy to keep your life interesting. He’s neutered, vaccinated, and ready to wiggle his way straight into your lap and your heart. Aggie didn’t have the easiest start. He and his three siblings came from a heartbreaking situation—only two survived after being neglected by another rescue, and his dog mom checked out early on. The pups were dangerously underweight and had to be bottle-fed back to health. So yeah, Aggie has seen some things… and he’s here to tell the tale (mostly through zoomies and enthusiastic barking at the wind). Because of that rocky start, Aggie resource guards his food—totally understandable—so he’s fed in his crate. Outside the food bowl? Total love bug. Raised with other dogs, he’s playful, social, and would be thrilled to have a canine sibling to wrestle and romp with. Now, full disclosure: Aggie isn’t gunning for “Dog Jeopardy” any time soon. But what he lacks in academic ambition, he makes up for in charm and commitment to being the most snuggly loaf in the room. I can't say it enough, he thrives on affection, belly rubs, and curling up as close to you as physically possible—he's basically a weighted blanket with legs. Petrie is a darling little chihuahua mix puppy. He was born around 4/24/2025 and is currently 8 lbs. Petrie is sweet, playful and smart. He likes romping around the house and yard playing chase with his dog buddies. He loves stuffed toys and will happily empty the toy box and make a pile of his favorite toys. He enjoys bully sticks and other chewy bones. Petrie currently lives with friendly dogs of various sizes and he does well with them. He also lives with dog savvy cats and is respectful with them but he might chase shy kitties and chase if they run. Young children would likely overwhelm him so only dog savvy, respectful kids over 12 are recommended. He loves a yard and is an alert barker so no apartments for him. Petrie can be shy with new people but has shown he can warm up with slow, gentle introductions and treats. He can be intimidated by overly dominant dogs and would likely not be happy living with one. Petrie is crate trained, doing well with house training and learning to walk politely on a leash.
