Normally little dogs as cute as Fruit Bat are adopted very quickly at the shelter, however, this little guy is apparently very picky abut his friends.The foster care volunteer who took him initially reports he was good with a resident dog and cat, but only warmed to certain members of the family, even after being there a while. If you are interested in Fruit Bat, our Behavior Team will be happy to tell you more about his past and advise how to best interact with him.

Meet WINSTON 🐾 Winston — an 11-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua — needs YOU! His previous owner adored him and showed him lots of love by way of snacks, treats, and a few extra portions. I mean… just look at that face! But what Winston truly needs now is someone who will take him for walks and show him what a healthy lifestyle is all about — all while loaning a foot for him to rub up against or a cozy spot on the couch so he can lie right next to you. Now, fair warning… Winston can be a little vocal when he’s out on the town, making sure all the other dogs in the vicinity know he’s arrived! With him being hard of hearing (some might even say deaf), he may feel the need to announce himself a bit more. Don’t let that scare you though — he had us fooled for the first week thinking he just had very selective hearing 😉 Winston does well with other dogs in the home, but he would much rather spend his time right by your side than playing with them. Although a senior, he still has pep in his step and would absolutely love to be your bestest boy — giving you a reason to wake up each day and a reason to get your steps in. HI!! Scout here!! ✨You MUST be local to Jacksonville as I have 2 upcoming vet appointments, one being my spay on June 2nd that you will have to take me to at 7:30am & pick me up after 2pm. Owning your own home, having a great vet reference as well as having your ducks in a row will also be quite helpful in being chosen. 😘 I was born 1/27/26 (currently 12 weeks old as of 4/24) & was 1 of 3 girls in the litter. None of us looked alike BUT I am the spittin image of our Mama (see last picture -isn't she beautiful?) My Mama is a Chihuahua Terrier mix & based on the dna test our foster mom did on us, our daddy must have been a Bichon Frise/Pomeranian mix (my sisters take after him). I am currently 3 1/2 pounds - would guesstimate that I'll be 8-12 pounds fully grown. Foster Mama named me 'Scout' because although I was the runt of the litter (I am currently .2 ounces bigger than both of them, thankyouverymuch), I was the one who was the most adventurous & scooted around the nursery pen even before I could hardly walk. I am as wild as I am a snuggle bug. Foster Dad says I give the very best kisses. Are you looking for an Adventure Buddy because I am. I'm looking for someone that will take me to school so we can bond, take me out & about so I can be a confident Little & one who will stay committed to me for my entire 15+ years. Joni is 6 years old, very playful girl with lots of personality. She needs a family that can be more attentive to her. Very adventurous and gets along well with other pets. She won’t wander far if unleashed. Is crate trained. Needs about 2-3 potty breaks a day. Im rehoming her because of financial difficulties and i’m too busy to give her the time she needs. I raised her from a puppy and care for her a lot, I hope to find her a new loving home.

She is truly a beautiful dog with a sweet heart, but an unfortunate past. She was found abandoned and stuffed in a cage with 40 chihuahuas :( We don't have all of the facts about her full story, but you can tell she needs an experienced person with PATIENCE. We've had her for roughly 3 months, and she has started to make a lot of progress! However, she still gets very scared and reactive. We have another, much bigger dog that she does not get along with, and we want to be proactive before anything drastic happens! She deserves an owner who is experienced in dealing with dogs with behavioral issues (SPECIFICALLY ANXIETY), and is patient and caring. This was ultimately a hard decision because she truly is so sweet and has made progress in our home. As I mentioned, she truly is riddled with anxiety and needs someone willing to put in the time, effort, extra patience, and care. Will come with everything bought for her to help with a smooth transition: crate, beds, treats, food, etc.
