Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.*** UPDATE *** 19 June 2023 CHIP was adopted on 30 November 2020 to a family who knew he was going to be a work in progress and committed to give him the life he deserves. Sadly this has not worked out, CHIP apparently marks in the house, isn't leash trained and is still wary of strange people. A trainer was never sought out so there was not able to learn. Due to the owner having health issues and not being able to deal with him he is being returned to the rescue by the end of this month. Updated pictures and information will be provided when he has been returned, but he does need a loving, patient family, a fenced in yard and safe environment - he was so much fun when he was here, really learning to trust and have fun. Please be sure to watch the video's from back in 2020 on the rescue website. *************************************************************************** READ ALL INFORMATION PROVIDED CHIP-L was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas with his 3 buddies, all feral and had been scheduled to be killed the day we saved them. CHIP-L is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heartworm and tick disease tested negative, monthly preventatives and microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 20 April 2016 and at the time of rescue in May 2018 weighed around 11 pounds.   CHIP, PRINCE, MILO & PIXIE were all saved together. When I had informed the shelter I would take them into rescue, they informed me they were scheduled to be killed that day because they were feral. I had committed to them and so I couldn't back out.   When they got here I let them with the other dogs and just left them to it as I think it is important for dogs to decompress and figure out what has happened to them the last week, being picked up by animal control, taken to a large city kill shelter, having surgery and all the vetting then on a transport up to the rescue for 3 days, then getting here - it is so much for them all in such a short time.   CHIP has come a very long way and will come and sit next to me, he will let me scratch his head, belly, he will play although he does "mouth" when playing. He gets very excited when playing and is a very sweet boy. I let him build his confidence on his own and come up to me when he felt ready. At first it was taking treats and then this slowly progressed to me scratching his chest and ears, then eventually his belly. He is truly desperate for affection and he wants nothing more than to cuddle up on my lap. At times he has sneaked on the chair next to me and gone to sleep, however, he will not let me pick up he will run off, but then immediately come back. As you can see in the video he does want to play, but he does "mouth" when playing and at times can put a bit too much pressure, he is not biting he just doesn't know he is playing too hard, but I gently correct him, telling him no and he does stop. This will take time, but the fact he has come so far on his own, in his own time, I believe with the right family he has huge potential. CHIP needs a family that understands he is going to need time to figure things out again and do things at his own pace. He isn't going to be jumping on your lap snuggling up straight away, he isn't going to let you pick him up or take him for walks for a considerable time so a fenced in yard is an absolute must. With time, love and patience everything can come, being with a family that has time to spend with him, teaching him things and helping him gain trust will enable him to develop the confidence and trust he needs.   We do not recommend children more because of his mouthing  little hard and also children are not as patient in allowing him to progress at his own pace.   CHIP truly is a very sweet boy, he enjoys the other dogs, he enjoys sitting on the back of the sofa watching the squirrels and birds at the feeding stations. He loves to get attention and deserves the best family and forever home. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how he would be around or with them.    Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.   If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.   Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.   https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.   We post in various states along the east coast and Canada where we have had lots of successful adoptions to enable more exposure for these beautiful saved souls. Families will need to be prepared to travel to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations  and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend. If there are options to arrange transport, we will work with you to make it happen.Click here to watch a video of CHIP-L - EXPERIENCED FAMILY.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 5, 2026, 4:48 pm

Story
This sweet little guy is Buddy and he is a happy go lucky 7-year,14-pound Chihuahua mix who has been with my a senior couple since he was a puppy. Due to his elderly mother's move to assisted living, this boy needs to be moved to a loving foster or forever home ASAP.   The family children have heavy personal responsibilities and illness they are dealing with and Buddy cannot join either of the homes of the daughters.  They feel backed in a corner to find him a place very soon and Critter Cavalry Rescue is dedicated to helping this innocent little happy guy find a place to share his joyful personality.   Buddy is incredibly loyal and loves being with his people. He has plenty of energy for playtime and would love a fenced yard where he can run and explore, but if you don't have a fenced yard, he also does well going for walks on a leash. He's also perfectly happy curling up beside you for a nap. He is up to date on all vaccinations and is happiest when he's spending time with the people he loves. Buddy could fit into many different types of homes. He may especially enjoy a quieter home with an older person or couple, but more than anything, he just wants a family who will love him, include him, and make him part of their lives. This is a heartbreaking decision for his mom, and the only goal is to find Buddy the safe, loving home he deserves. Buddy would do best in a home without cats as he thinks of them as a good game of chase.  While he can get along with other dogs, he tends to do best with a sweet, confident dog who won't be intimidated by his strong personality, as he can sometimes be a bit bossy with other dogs. We know there is a special person or family out there who will give him the love, companionship, and happy home he deserves.  Please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com if you are interested in making this darling little guy your amazing sidekick for life.               PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 5, 2026, 11:16 am
