Story

Freddy is a very sweet, lovable 9 year old Chihuahua that was surrendered to us due to his owner going into a nursing home. He is very active and fully housebroken. Freddy loves other small dogs at his foster home and does well with the cat. He is curious, and follows her around. Freddy loves being held and loves sleeping under the covers with his foster mom and all 6 other dogs. Freddy lived with a senior woman, so we do not know about how he is with men. He seems very well socialized. He does seem blind in one eye due to a cataract, but that doesn't stop him. He was checked by our vet who has no concerns about the eye. He is very quiet and does not bark. He will take off if he is off leash, so he needs to be leashed or on a run. He would love to be with a retired couple, or senior lady and he may benefit living with another small dog. We are not sure about big dogs. He has no separation issues or destructive behavior. &#226&#156&#168 Mimi – A Tiny Girl Ready for a Big New Beginning Mimi is a beautiful black-and-tan Chiweenie girl whose sleek little coat shines brightly in the sunlight. At just 4 years old and 6.6 pounds, she is a petite sweetheart who has already been through more change than any little dog should have to endure. Mimi originally came from a home where her owner’s life had begun to spiral out of control. With love and honesty, her owner made the heartbreaking decision to surrender Mimi and her younger Chiweenie companion, GiGi, knowing they deserved stability and care she could no longer provide. The girls were turned into a small-town shelter — and thankfully, Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in and pulled them to safety, promising them a brighter future. Right now, Mimi is a quiet, gentle girl, likely still processing the loss of her previous life and her mom. She does need to gain about 3 pounds to reach a healthier and more typical weight, but with proper nutrition, care, and love, she is expected to thrive beautifully. Mimi is leash trained and does wonderfully with other dogs and cats. While she isn’t telling us definitively if she’s fully housebroken at the moment, we strongly suspect that she either is or would happily use a pee pad with gentle guidance. She is crate trained, but in a calm home, a cozy dog bed in a small room may be all she needs when her family is away. This sweet girl has unlimited potential to become the most cuddly, loving companion in your life. Mimi isn’t asking for much — just what every pretty little girl dog deserves: to be cherished, protected, and spoiled as she begins this new chapter. Mrs. Fluff is a delicate little one-year-old, Deerhead mix Chihuahua weighing just 8 pounds, and who is searching for a calm, nurturing home where patience and love come first. While she is undeniably beautiful on the outside, her heart is still healing from a difficult beginning. Mrs. Fluff came from a home that just could not take care of her. After one month in foster care, she has made truly remarkable progress and continues to blossom every day. In her foster home, Princess Fluff has learned that laps are safe, cuddles are wonderful, and gentle voices bring comfort. She seeks affection and enjoys being close to her people once she feels secure. Inside the home she is relaxed, playful in her own quiet way, and her sweet personality is beginning to shine through. She is still building confidence outdoors and leash walks in a fenced yard will prove to be a big confidence booster for her. Mrs. Fluff would thrive in a home where her people can continue this positive exposure at her pace. Car rides and neighborhood strolls are goals we know she will enjoy as she gains confidence. This special little one year old chihuahua is called Magic Maude. And especially sensitive little girl, that somehow got just a little too round and is on a dedicated exercise in nutrition program to drop some weight. Currently, she is eighteen pounds and we field that she would be best to be in the ten to twelve pound range as a goal. She originally was in a chaotic home that animal control had to step in and take away 112 chihuahuas that we're living in the home. An unfathomable amount of dogs that were not altered, but yet healthy. When mod came to our rescue and was put in a foster home. She lay there in her crate for days very depressed and emotionally unresponsive. She barely moved from the one spot she lay in. Eventually, after almost two weeks, she perked up with the company of few other chihuahuas coming to join her in her large crate. Soon she was going on walks with the foster. Mom and seemed to enjoy the freedom of being outside, taking in all the new sights and sounds of the neighborhood. We know she had never been leash walked due to the overcrowding at her original home. This girl is spayed and healthy and ready to start all over again. She wants love and we promised her a great family who will love her and take her for walks and treat her like the Magic Maude that she is. GiGi – Small in Size, Big on Love GiGi is a precious little Chiweenie girl who is about 3 years old and weighs just around 6.4 pounds. Like her sister Mimi, GiGi’s life changed suddenly when the only home she had ever known fell apart. Through no fault of her own, she and Mimi were surrendered when their owner realized she could no longer provide the stability they deserved. The girls were turned into a small-town shelter, and thankfully Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in and brought them to safety. GiGi is still adjusting to all the changes, but even in the midst of uncertainty, her gentle and affectionate personality is easy to see. GiGi is a friendly, sweet-natured little girl who enjoys being close to her people. She has a slightly more curious side than Mimi and seems eager to understand her new surroundings. She does well with other dogs and has lived peacefully with cats, making her an easy fit for many different home environments. We believe GiGi is either already housebroken or would quickly adapt with a consistent routine or pee pad. She is crate trained, though like many small dogs, she would likely be just as content relaxing on a comfy dog bed in a safe, quiet space when her family is away. GiGi has a soft, loving heart and is simply looking for another chance to belong. She doesn’t ask for much — just patience, kindness, and a family who will love her for the rest of her life. Posted December 2025 Paul is a 2 yr old terrier mix weighing in at 23 lbs. He appears to be a terrier/Chihuahua/spaniel mix, but whatever his blend may be, he is cute and gentle, although still finding his confidence in the world. He and his siblings were cruelly abandoned by their owners...they moved and left them to fend for themselves (outdoors) with absolutely no regard for their well-being. We wish that was unusual in some of the southern areas where we rescue from ; 0 ( Paul is a little anxious around new dogs at first, but once he warms up, he is a great playmate. He loves playing with his sibling Mary and fellow foster friends...think "zoomies" and shenanigans! He does share a foster home with cats, and he will bark at his kitty friends if they startle him or give chase. He won’t hurt them at all but they don’t always love his idea of fun. Paul can be shy with new people at first but he can be won over with treats, gentle affection and sharing a walk or a romp outside. Once he trusts you he becomes a snuggle buddy! You'll know when Paul trusts you and bonds with you when he begins "smiling" ever so slightly. He greets his canine buddies in the same way and he'll bestow kisses upon you! Paul can be a couch potato while enjoying cuddles and attention, but also is happy to oblige with a busy active game. He would be a wonderful companion for a single person, couple or retirees. We think he’d be too lonely without another playful dog in his home so he is looking for a fun sibling in his new home This sweet pup could also join a family with with calm-natured, mature children, so our recommendation would be a family who has taught their kiddos to respect animals and be gentle with newcomers. Rambunctious youngsters would overwhelm Paul. He is such a sweet-natured guy in spite of being failed by humans. He still wants to forge bonds and be part of a family.He is so worth the gentle and gradual introduction period that he needs because you will be rewareded with a loving companion ; 0 ) If you have interest in meeting Paul or any of our cuties, please fill out the adoption application.
