Story
Olaf, the chocolate Chihuahua, is about 4.5 years old and looking for the perfect, quiet home with someone who is familiar with anxious and fearfully reactive dogs. He would do best in a home with no children, and not a lot of visitors. Cats are a no go for Olaf as are most other dogs. He would be ok with one small, submissive, low-key doggie friend as he likes to play occasionally, but he isn't very good at normal dog play. We lovingly think of Olaf's personality as a cat trapped in a dog's body. Olaf takes a daily anxiety medication to help him feel safe in his everyday environment. Olaf will need an understanding and patient person that will allow him space and decompression time when he gets overstimulated. Olaf is crate trained and for the most part potty trained. However, like any small dog he isn’t a fan of going outside in the rain or cold. He walks wonderfully on leash as long as no off leash dogs approach him, and he also loves to travel in the car. He does like affection on his own terms and will let you know when he no longer wants attention. Olaf's perfect home will need to be willing to give him time and show him patience as he is settling in to your lifestyle, they must also be willing to continue working on training to ensure he lives a happy and safe life. Most importantly Olaf will need a person that is NOT expecting a snuggly lap dog. While he will occasionally snuggle and sit on your lap, it will only happen when he chooses it. His perfect person would be looking for a tiny, quirky shadow that is content with his mere presence as companionship. Olaf is spay/neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, heartworm tested and on prevention. Adoption fee for Olaf is $350. If you are interested in adopting Olaf, please fill out an adoption application http://www.furgetusnotrescue.org/application.html .

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. MEET EMMY LOU: Emmy Lou is a precious 4-month-old, 11-pound short hair Chihuahua who has endured a challenging start to life. Emmy Lou was rescued from a hoarding situation where she lived among over 50 Chihuahuas in the home of an 84-year-old woman. As a result, she is still quite shy and learning to trust. Emmy Lou is at a crucial age where she can still learn and grow with the right guidance. She has already experienced significant changes, and she now needs a quiet and patient home where she can continue to build her confidence. Due to her timid nature, it is best for Emmy Lou to be in a household without young children. Additionally, she will require a physical fenced yard as she has not yet learned proper leash manners. In her previous environment, Emmy Lou was not given the opportunity to go outside to relieve herself. However, she appears to be potty pad trained and may need further reinforcement. With consistent training and positive reinforcement, she can learn to go outside to do her business. Emmy Lou has had a positive experience with a cat, showing that she may be able to peacefully coexist with other animals. However, due to her background, she will need a patient family who understands the struggles she has faced. It is important to provide her with a decompression period and allow her to adjust at her own pace. At her young age, Emmy Lou is still discovering the world around her and may not be familiar with toys. She is not particularly food motivated, but with loving guidance, she may learn to enjoy playtime and develop new interests. When she feels scared or overwhelmed, Emmy Lou may run and hide, but it is crucial to note that she is not aggressive. Although it may take a little time for Emmy Lou to warm up to new people, she desires love and affection just like any other dog. With patience and understanding, she will become a loyal, devoted companion. Emmy Lou's journey has been challenging, but her resilient spirit shines through, and she is ready to start a new chapter in her life with a family who will support and cherish her. If you have a quiet and understanding home, and are willing to provide Emmy Lou with the time she needs to trust, she will reward you with unwavering love and devotion. Gemma was rescued from a hoarding situation where she lived with over 50 Chihuahuas in the home of an 84-year-old woman. As a result, Gemma is shy and has experienced a significant amount of change in her life. She is still getting familiar with car rides, she gets a upset tummy when riding in cars. Gemma is looking for a quiet home where she can feel safe and secure. Due to her timid nature, it is recommended that she be placed in a home without young children. Additionally, Gemma will require a physical fenced yard as she currently has no leash manners. In her previous situation, she was not given the opportunity to go outside to relieve herself, so she may be more familiar with potty pads. However, with patience and consistent training, Gemma has started to go outside in a fenced in area, where she likes to explore the surroundings and learning to be house trained.  It is important to note that Gemma will need a patient family who can give her time to decompress from her past experiences. This resilient pup will thrive with understanding owners who can empathize with the struggles she has faced. Gemma is still adjusting to her new life but she is starting to enjoy playing with toys.  Unlike other dogs who are motivated by most treats, Gemma is mostly motivated by small pieces of chicken.  Gemma's journey has been tough, but she is ready to start a new chapter in her life with a family who can give her the love and support she deserves. It may take a moment for Gemma to warm up, but with patience and understanding, she will make a loyal and devoted companion. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. MEET CUARTO: Hi there! My name is Cuatro, but you can call me Four for short. I'm one of the lucky dogs who was rescued from a recent hoarding case. You see, there were over 50 Chihuahuas living in a home with an elderly lady, and thankfully, we were all given a chance at a better life. Even though I'm young, I haven't had much socialization in my past. But don't worry, I'm a quick learner and I'm looking forward to finding a patient and understanding forever family who will help me come out of my shell. I do well with other dogs my size, so if you already have a furry friend, we might just become the best of pals. I would do best in a home with another small dog to help me continue to come out of my shell. Now, I have to be honest with you - I'm not a fan of cats. It's just something about those little creatures that puts me on edge. So, a home without any feline friends would be ideal for me. I should mention that fast movements tend to scare me, so if you have young children in your home, it will make me anxious. I would do best without them in a home. I really want to find a calm and understanding environment where I can feel safe and loved. A fenced yard is a must for me because, well, I'm not leash trained just yet. But no worries, I'm currently working on that and with consistent training, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. Unfortunately, given my past I do not have the potty skills I should, but I'm learning. I absolutely love playing with toys, so having a few of those around would definitely make me a happy pup! Once I feel comfy in my surroundings, I'll happily snuggle up next to you. It just takes a little time for me to trust and understand that the world isn't such a scary place after all. I'm really hoping to find that special someone who will show me that not all humans are bad. So, if you have a kind heart, lots of patience, and the determination to help me become the best version of myself, I'd be forever grateful. Can you give me the loving forever family I've been dreaming of? Let's embark on this journey together and show me that life is full of love and happiness. MEET TRES:   Hi there! My name is Tres, and just like my name suggests, I'm one of the many dogs who were rescued from a recent hoarding case. Furever Tails Animal Rescue, along with a local animal control agency, came to our aid when we were found living in a crowded home with an 84-year-old woman. I'm five years old, unfortunately, I haven't had much socialization in my life. As a result, I'll need a patient and understanding forever family who can help me come out of my shell. I get along well with dogs my size, in fact, I would prefer to have another small dog at home as a companion. We can support and comfort each other as we adjust to our new lives. Now, I have to be honest with you - I'm not a fan of cats. There's something about their presence that puts me on edge, so a home without any feline friends would be the best fit for me. Because of my lack of socialization, fast movements tend to scare me. As a result, having young children in the home would stress me out. I thrive in a calm and quiet environment, where I can gradually learn to trust and feel safe. A fenced yard is a must for me, as I'm not yet leash trained. But don't worry, I'm working on it! I promise to do my best to learn all the leash manners with consistent training. Sadly, because of my I do not have the potty skills I should, but we're working on it. And while we're on the topic of training, did I mention how much I love playing with toys? They bring out my playful side and keep me entertained. I just need someone who will teach me that the world isn't such a scary place and that not all humans are bad. I'm longing for a loving forever family who will show me the kindness and care that I've been missing. So, if you have a big heart, plenty of patience, and the dedication to help me grow into the confident and loving dog I can be, then I would be forever grateful. Let's embark on this journey together and show me all the love and happiness that the world has to offer. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. MEET DOS:   Hey there, folks! My name is Dos, which means "number 2" in Spanish. Funny name, I know, but it's nice to meet you! I'm one of the many Chihuahuas who were rescued from a hoarding case. Thanks to the amazing team at Furever Tails Animal Rescue, we were given a chance at a better life. Let me start by saying that I'm just a little guy, only four months old. In my short life, I haven't had much socialization, but I'm improving every day. I may be a bit shy and lacking in social skills right now, but with patience and love, I know I can become the best version of myself. Sadly, before I was rescued, one of my eyes was injured. As a result, I'm partly blind in that specific eye. But trust me, it doesn't slow me down one bit! I'm a resilient little pup who is ready to explore the world and experience all the joy it has to offer. I'm a friendly guy and get along well with both dogs and cats. So, if you have furry friends at home, I'll fit right in. I do prefer a slightly calmer environment, as loud and chaotic situations can make me a little uneasy. A calm and loving family is just what I need to help me feel secure and supported. Potty training is a work in progress for me, but I'm learning! With some guidance and consistency, I'll master it in no time. I'm also finally getting the hang of being a puppy, discovering all the fun and exciting things life has to offer. Having a fenced yard is a must for me, as I need a safe space to explore and play. Tethering is not acceptable for my safety, so it's important that my forever home understands this requirement. I'll be honest, I will need some training and guidance to help me become the best dog I can be. I want to learn and grow, but I'll need a helping hand to show me the way. With your patient and understanding nature, you can shape me into the loving and well-behaved companion I'm destined to be. I'm scheduled for a neuter procedure at our vet partners in Macomb and Oakland County, so it would be ideal if my forever family is located nearby. I'm eagerly searching for a forever family who will provide me with the love, care, and guidance I need. If you're ready to embark on this journey with me and show me the wonderful life I deserve, please consider adopting me. Together, we can create a bond that will last a lifetime. Can I be your forever buddy?  DOS is: Current on age appropriate vaccinations.DewormedReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedScheduled for sterilization surgery at one of our partner veterinary offices in Macomb/Oakland County.  ADOPTION FEE: $375   FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI.
