Story
Harper is 6 years old. Are you looking for a playmate for your dog? Harper is your girl. She LOVES tiny little dogs. Those are her favorite. Oh Harper, she is a funny girl. She likes to rearrange blankets and drag them across the room to the pile of toys and bones she has collected. She LOVES to wrestle and play with the dogs in the foster home. She is great with the cat. Harper is potty trained to the doggie door but will also use a potty pad if needed. Harper came from a hoarding case and prefers the company of other dogs more than people. When she has her dog friends around she is confident and will follow you everywhere and is a happy funny girl with tail wagging away. She is semi-feral when it comes to people. She doesn't want people to touch her but she will dance for you with excitement when you get home from work. She has 2 requirements if adopting: Must have a Fence and another dog. The perfect home for Harper is a someone who is ok with a dog who doesn't want to go for walks or in the car. That you are ok with her just being a dog with dog friends. And a fenced yard, doggie door is a plus as she doesn't want you to stand in the doorway for her to go outside. She has been in rescue for 2 years now and has gotten a little chubby. :) Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Email questions to Lori@campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $300 plus tax

Story
Chrissy came from a shelter in Arkansas after her owner died. She is a sweet senior chihuahua who lives with dogs and cats. She is looking for a chihuahua savvy owner who enjoys watching movies on the couch and going for strolls outside. Chrissy LOVES to go for walks and is very gentle on the leash. You can walk her with the leash in your pinkie. She is able to jump up on the couch with you. At times she doesn't want to be picked up. She is potty trained. She loves the fenced yard but walks great on a leash. Her hearing isn't the best anymore. She can be a little moody so reading her body language has been very successful in keeping things smooth. She does not care for strangers coming up to her to pet her without her permission. Are you looking for a sweet/ sometimes salty companion? Side kick? Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Adoption fee is $300 plus tax.

Story
Kila and her friend AJ were left in an overnight drop box at an overcrowded shelter. Kila is a little lap dog and wonderful cuddler. She follows you everywhere and sleeps with you under the covers. She loves to be carried around or taken places with you. Kila is a hospice adoption. She came with a hand full of health issues. She has a hernia, grade 4 heart murmur, mammary tumors, luxating patella's, bad teeth. Due to her knees, she walks funny, and she has a hunched back. She is 12 years old and a whole 5.5 lbs and we have been trying to put weight on her for 2 months. Blood work is actually pretty good for Kila. We have scheduled surgery multiple times but had to cancel due to now having mini seizures. Kila is on a very low dose of Enalapril for her heart murmur. We would call her our little hot mess express. But Kila is a happy girl. She loves to follow you everywhere you go and if you sit, she sits right by your side. She is a master of the pretzel position when she is sleeping. So if you have a heart for hospice, Kila is available for adoption. She is house broken but she has to potty often so someone who is home alot to let her out. She uses the doggy door at her foster home. She isn't a huge fan of big dogs. Dogs 15 lbs and under she is fine with. Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org Kila does qualify for the senior for senior program and her adoption fee is waived if you are 63 or older. Please consider a donation to help us support this program to help senior dogs like Kila. Find our donation button on our website.

Story
Paloma is a loving and playful 8-month-old puppy who loves all the attention. She was found as a stray. She is 13.5 lbs. She loves to play with other dogs, but she can be annoying to some dogs who prefer their space. She plays hard and snuggles hard. She can get jealous when other dogs come near you and not a fan of sharing her human, so we are working on that. She is doing good potty training so long as she is on a schedule, and she gets taken out before you leave anywhere or leave her unattended. She seems to be afraid of bigger dogs and starts barking at dogs who seem to come in her direction...she was picked on by other dogs, so she needs to work on confidence around other dogs and not be fearful she will get attacked. She may need a slow intro with some dogs and take time to warm up to them. She is learning to walk on a leash, she walks but gets excited and into sniffing, so she can be all over the place and tangle around your legs sometimes. If something scares her, she will walk behind your legs, if she spots birds, squirrels, rabbits, she wants to go after them and will pull or yank. She will bark if other dogs bark or if something scares her. She is a Velcro dog who loves to snuggle and be as close to you as possible, giving licks. Trying to teach her some space boundaries so that will need to continue if you don't like dogs giving you lots of kisses. She enjoys playing with toys and loves treats. She likes to pick up and eat things on the ground, so you need to watch that. She is being kennel trained but doesn't like it. I put her in for the night and if I get up without taking her out right away, she will whine till she gets out. During the day she is only in it for a couple hours if no one is home. She is great with cats and kids. Adoption fee is $300 plus tax Apply to adopt at www.campcompanion.org

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Hadler aka Cody has blossomed into an affectionate companion. He gets along wonderfully with dogs of his size. He enjoys lounging on the couch with his human and sleeping in bed near their head. He's kennel trained and delights in playing chase with his canine friends in the backyard, as well as carrying his toys. He's fond of bully sticks, house trained, adept at using the doggy door, and will resort to a potty pad if necessary. He does not engage in marking behavior. Hadler aka Cody, is a rescue from a situation involving 25 small dogs, was extremely fearful upon his rescue a year ago. He was adopted but is now being returned due to the need for a quieter environment with fewer people. He is apprehensive around strangers, which makes his current situation unsuitable. He seeks a peaceful home. He would do best with another social dog in the home. His limited exposure to people in the past means he's still learning how to greet them. He tends to get frightened and bark at newcomers. He's not comfortable around children or certain men, especially when they lean over him. However, he's highly motivated by treats, which helps when meeting new people. He has a quirky personality, and a generally calm demeanor. He is an Excellent companion dog. Hadler (Cody) is also leash trained and really enjoys walks, showing excitement when his harness is brought out. No kids for this guy. For adoption inquiries, visit www.campcompanion.org. The adoption fee is $300 plus tax.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rocky originally came to the shelter in Jan., 2021, after he was found abandoned in a trailer. He was adopted soon after and enjoyed his home for 3 years. Sadly his owner passed away recently and Rocky is now back at our shelter. He is, of course, a little confused right now but is very nice. He has been fully vetted and his fee is $125. Rocky is looking for a somewhat quiet and calm home. He has done well with older kids. He's accustomed to a home in which he won't be left alone for long hours and he truly enjoys being with his people. He enjoys going for little walks and is also content to hang out and cuddle. He did live with a cat with no issues. We think he would do fine with another smaller, well mannered dog. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Please check your emails after you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 30, 2024, 6:38 pm
