You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Chase is about a year and a half old and was surrendered to our shelter on May 3rd. He's a chihuahua/pit bull mix (yes, that's correct) and he has been bounced around a bit in his relatively short life. He's not quite a small dog and not quite a medium sized dog. He's a happy and enthusiastic fellow who bounces into the room to say hey. He has been vet checked, chipped, neutered, and his fee is $150. Chase is a sweet guy who loves attention. He's quickly becoming a volunteer fave. He will require some basic training. He is active and playful and is looking for a home in which he won't be alone for long hours. He has done okay with some adult dogs of similar size. Cats? We're not sure. Kids over 5 would be best for him. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. Meet Harper. Harper is a special adoption. Harper has been in our rescue for 2.5 years. Why so long? Harper came from a hoarding case years ago and just still hasn't enjoyed people touching her. Is she the happiest dog you will meet? Yes she still loves life, loves other dogs and loves to lounge on the couch. Harper is looking for a home who will accept her and her fear of being touched and be ok with that. She is house broken and will use a potty pad. She really doesn't even need to go outside if you don't want her to. You can't walk her as she doesn't want you to touch her so fenced yard is required. She gets sedation to go to the vet. But she is loved and deserves love. We will waive her adoption fee for adopters willing to give Harper Lee a life. Kila and her friend AJ were left in an overnight drop box at an overcrowded shelter on Jan. 27th.. Kila is a little lap dog and wonderful cuddler. She follows you everywhere and sleeps with you under the covers. She loves to be carried around or taken places with you. Kila is looking for a hospice home and would prefer no other dogs in the home. She just wants to lay on your lap all day. She came with a hand full of health issues. She had a hernia, grade 4 heart murmur, mammary tumors, luxating patella's, bad teeth. Due to her knees, she walks funny, and she has a hunched back. She is 12 years old and a whole 5 lbs. Update: 5/2/24- Kila has a zest for life. We tried did a super fast surgery and she had hernia repair surgery, removed a mammary lump and pulled some infected teeth. Kila is a happy girl. She loves to follow you everywhere you go and if you sit, she sits right by your side. She is a master of the pretzel position when she is sleeping. So, if you have a heart for senior dogs. She is house broken, but she has to potty often so someone who is home alot to let her out. She uses the doggy door at her foster home and takes herself out to potty. She isn't a huge fan of big dogs; she will pick a fight with them. She doesn't like dogs in her space. Dogs 15 lbs and under she is fine with. Gertie is a sweet little wiggle butt chihuahua who is looking for a nice calm home. She wags her tail at everyone she meets. She gets along with other dogs and would curl up in kids laps for some loving. She is just starting to walk on a leash but doing great. She will need some help getting potty trained. We are looking for a special home for Little Bit. Take a walk on the wild side!. Little Bit is from Arkansas. She lived in a home with 29 other dogs. She was physically abused, so does not like to be picked up, ever. From the first day in our home, she has been social with our other dogs and cat and a door greeter. The first night with us she climbed in our bed and slept. Little Bit is house broke. You MUST have a fenced in yard as, you cannot touch her with two hands or attach a leash, one hand pets are ok! She likes to eat and will try to eat other dogs' food. She also likes to lay next to you on the couch as long as you pet her with one hand not two. Little Bit is a sweet loving young lady but again if you try to pick her up, she will let you know that is not allowed. If you know what I mean. She is a very happy go lucky.
