Story
ALL our cats and dogs are in the NY area but can be adopted out of state to the purrfect furever home.  In some cases, we can help transport.  Zani's al fresco Summer Adoptions  follow us on FB to find us this summer as we will try new locations to meet the needs of NYC and support the little stores:)     1yr old 17lbs Noelia from Puerto Rico would make the perfect family dog! All dogs are located in NY/NJ area All our puppies need puppy play dates/doggy facetime so we recommend homes with other pups or daily interactions to keep them tired out, happy and social.     Facebook: Zani's Furry Friends ZFF (weekly adoption event info posted there) Twitter: zanisff  Instagram: zanisfurryfriends   Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, Rabies vaxed, and microchipped (not Lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it!)  All are in the NY/NJ area but we will adopt out of state to the purrfect home and in some cases, we can arrange transport.  Please go to our site  https://zanisfurryfriends.org  fill out an application  Many of us (cats/dogs) will be on display on Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent--please ask by writing us at dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org and following us on FB. If you are seriously interested in adopting one of us in particular, please fill out an application early Friday so that we can be sure to be there. Otherwise we decide based on other variables. Usually we are in our foster homes so this is a bit more stressful and a slightly artificial environment but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes too.   Please consider providing a home for more than one dog, especially if you are considering adopting a puppy. Dogs are pack animals and very much enjoy as well as need other dog company to learn to play, socialize and be good companion animals to people. The upside to this is that you won't feel as guilty leaving them alone and you get twice the love. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer, and you can always donate! If you want to know about cats/dogs specifically being shown at our adoption locations, please email us info@zanisfurryfriends.org closer to the date so we know your interest and will make every effort to have that pet at the event or let you know how and where you can meet.  It is extemely helpful and speeds up adoption if the application is filled out prior to visiting us so please do that before coming to our weekend events. Our weekend locations are: Saturdays or Sundays, weather dependent  Follow us on FB, Zani's Furry Friends ZFF, for latest updates. Usually we are in our foster homes so all this is a bit more stressful but we do want to be seen and find our furever homes. Please come! And if you can't adopt, maybe you can foster or volunteer. And you can always donate:) Cats and Dogs are spayed/neutered, UTD w/ all age appropriate shots and microchipped. Cats are feline combo tested for FIV/FeLV; dogs are heartworm tested and rabies vax'd, (NOT lyme vaxed but we seriously recommend it); rabbits are spayed/neutered. Please fill out an application and email to: For Cats: cats@zanisfurryfriends.org For Dogs: dogs@zanisfurryfriends.org For Rabbits: nyc.acc.rabbits@gmail.com. Please visit our website zanisfurryfriends.org.

Story
Mija is being fostered in PA Mija is a senior girl that just likes to be left alone. Foster family suspects possible abuse in her past. She has slight vision and flinches when hands go near her but will let you pick her up to take her outside or rub her behind her ears for a minute or two. She then wants to be put down and left alone to nap. She has been with her foster family for a brief time. At first she didn't even want to be touched or held but slowly is learning to trust her foster parents. She is fine with other dogs being in the house but really doesn't want to have anything to do with them - except she will occasionally lay on the same bed as another dog. She is perfect for someone that just wants a companion and has the patience to let her become comfortable. She has started going up to her foster mom for attention so the foster family is confident that with time and patience she will be a lot more affectionate. The foster family is attempting to house break her. She will go to the bathroom outside but will just stand there and wait for someone to take her back inside. Foster mom is also trying to teach her how to use a wee pad but so far has been unsuccessful. It is a work in progress. Do you have room in your home and heart for a little girl that really needs to be loved? BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing.

Story
Hansel is being fostered in PA. My name is Hansel and I am a very good boy. I came all the way from Texas to Pennsylvania and I am now learning what cold weather does to my achy old man bones. I have trouble with my hips and luxating patellas so I walk a little funny. I’m still going to brave any weather to do my thing outside because I am a good boy like that. Sometimes you can even find me running in the yard! I am very laid back and like to snooze the day away or get rubs in my foster mom’s lap. I am not high maintenance at all. I am housebroken, well, mostly, when an old guy has to go sometimes he has to really go. I’m not that good about telling you when I have to go but if you take me out when I wake up from one of my long naps everything should be fine. I am a very slender 8 pounds. I was just neutered so I may gain a little weight but that’s okay because I can use it. I have 13 teeth and even though I can eat crunchy toy breed food I do tend to prefer my food a little softer. Sometimes I like to eat my food all at once but sometimes I like to save a little bit for later. I was found as a stray, and someone brought me to the shelter where BDRA found me. I had a temporary foster mom and dad there and I liked to hang out with my foster dad. I easily adjusted to my new foster mom and dad and all their other pups. I don’t play with toys but if I find a bone laying around, oh boy! Happy day for me! I can see out of one eye but the other one has a mature cataract. I am very quiet, and my foster mom laughed the two times that I barked. She didn’t think I knew how to do it; I reserve it for only when someone is pestering me. I don’t bother any of the pups, I’m more of a keep to myself kind of guy but if I find you in my toasty bed, I might give you a nudge to send you on your way. An old guy needs his heating pad, you know? If I come to live with you, I will be a good companion and not cause any trouble. I just want to live my life being loved. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
Welcome to the rescue, Chug!  This boy deserves a forever home!  He is currently being fostered in Texas where he was picked up as a stray.  No one ever came for him, so we are devoted to helping him find a family to call his very own.  Chug is believed to be a pomperanian/cocker spaniel mix, but who really knows for sure!  He is less than 30 pounds, and is believed to be between 2 and 3 years old. Chug is just about perfect!  He is absolutely great with children and other dogs.  He just loves everybody he meets!  He is house trained, and eats and sleeps in his crate. Cats are unknown at this time.  Chug is ready to come to Central NY to join the family that he's been dreaming of for a long time!  Chug's adoption fee is $275 which goes towards neutering, vaccines and medical care up to adoption, microchip and tansportation fees. ##1682411##
