Charlie just turned 3 years old — a birthday she spent, once again, behind the walls of the shelter she’s called home for almost a year and a half. 🥀She’s a beautiful Rottweiler/Retriever mix with the softest eyes and the sweetest soul… but you’ll have to earn the chance to see that side of her. Charlie struggles with meeting new people — the world hasn’t always been kind to her — but if someone could just give her a few chances, visit her a couple of times, sit quietly nearby and let her heart unfold on its own… they’d find the most loyal, gentle, loving dog waiting underneath the fear. 💔Once she trusts you, she’s pure sunshine — a snuggly, kiss-giving, tail-wagging angel who will follow you anywhere. She walks beautifully on a leash, rides calmly in the car, and loves to stretch her legs running around the yard before curling up in a soft bed or a pile of blankets. She doesn’t care much for toys — she just wants love, safety, and someone to finally stay. 🐾Charlie has done well with some dogs here, but she takes her time getting comfortable — both with people and other pets. She’d do best in a quiet, low-traffic home with no young kids or cats.She’s a staff and volunteer favorite because we’ve seen the real her — the dog that greets you with kisses, melts into your lap, and looks at you like you’re her entire world. 🌙We keep telling her that her person is out there. That someone will see past the nerves and realize what a once-in-a-lifetime dog she truly is. Cuddlebug Piper is looking for a home where she can be smothered with attention 24/7. She loves to sit in your lap and be held, and would love to find an adopter who is home often to keep her company. Piper is a little skittish, but we’ve only known her for three days and she’s still getting acclimated, so hopefully with time she will feel more confident. She is so sweet and just wants to love on her humans.Piper is in a foster home. If you’d like to adopt her, please let us know so we can coordinate a meet and greet! Dos and his brother Uno are perfect chihuahua pups that were surrendered to Rico Pet Recovery when they were diagnosed with parvo. They have made a full recovery and they are now healthy, playful and happy pups. These two little bundle of joy bring joy and smiles to everyone who meets them. Uno and Dos are scheduled for their first set of vaccinations on September 28 and they can leave for their forever homes after that. Uno and Dos are in a foster home with dogs of all sizes and have been around children too. They do well with everyone. These 2 lovebugs love to be held and snuggle. They keep their crate tidy at night, come when called when in their fenced yard, and love life and their people. They weigh about 6 lbs currently at 4 months old and will likely be under 16 lbs full grown. Apply to meet Uno and/or Dos at ricopetrecovery.com. The adoption fee for each puppy is $350. Meet this adorable 4-year-old Chihuahua mix who is ready to find her perfect forever home! Sky is thought to be a Chihuahua and dachshund mix. At about 13 pounds, she's the ideal little sidekick with a big personality. She's potty trained, does well with other dogs, and absolutely loves playing fetch— it's her favorite game! She’ll need to be leashed outside unless the yard is securely fenced. Like many Chihuahuas, she can be vocal and may bark when meeting new people, but once she feels safe and comfortable, her sweet, affectionate personality shines through. She'll do best with a family that understands small dogs and is willing to give her a little time to warm up. Sky was surrendered by her first family because the little boy in the house was being too rough with her and it scared her. Because of that past, it is likely that Sky will remain cautious and nervous around little kids. So we recommend a family with children older than 8. If you're looking for a loyal, playful companion with lots of love to give, this little girl could be the perfect match. Sky has a stuffed elephant that she loves and that she takes everywhere.
