Story
Here's what Petunia's foster mom has to say about her, "Petunia has been with me for the last year. It's taken a very long time and lots of patience, but she has warmed up to me and now gets excited and all wiggly whenever she sees me. I can't always touch her, but she does usually climb into my lap whenever I sit down. She likely will never be a dog that will be comfortable with going for walks or to public places or with lots of commotion. However, she is a very sweet girl and will make a wonderful companion if someone is willing to take a chance on her and give her the time that she needs to come out of her shell."-------Petunia is a 3-year-old chihuahua. This little girl has been through a lot and is very timid. She came to us from a home where breeding was allowed to get out of control, and we believe that she had never had any human contact for her first two years of life. She is not a "normal", friendly, well-adjusted dog. She is definitely a project dog that could require many months (years?) of patience and understanding while she is acclimating to a new environment. She will need continued patience and consistency with potty training. We are looking for a quiet, adult only home with a securely fenced yard and at least one other small breed dog. We are looking to adopt Petunia locally in the OKC area. (No apartments, please.)All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on this year's vaccinations, tested negative for heart worms, microchipped, dewormed, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $150, if you're interested in adopting, please complete our Adoption Application on our website at www.allpawsrescueok.org.

Story
Meet Gina! Do you like small dogs and projects? Gina is small, she weighs only 5lbs. Gina is a project; the project is to make her love you. She came from a home with a lot of dogs and they were not socialized well. She is sweet, quiet, calm, and pretty low maintenance. She's about 5-7 years old, had some pretty severe dental disease which we took care of, and she lost quite a few teeth. She settled nicely into her foster home and has joined in the routine of the other dogs in the home. She follows her foster mom around but still prefers to stay just out of reach. She is completely potty trained as long as she is taken outside, or given a potty pad indoors. This took work as the foster mom had to corral and corner her to be able to pick her up until she trusted the situation enough to go in and out the doors on her own. When she moves to her new home, she will need to be on a leash until she gets the routine down. No apartments or houses without a secure fence, please. She will do best in a quiet home without a lot of activity. We call her a dog's dog. She is a wonderful snuggle buddy with the other chihuahua in her foster home and really needs to be adopted into a home with a small dog that will help her continue with her socialization and one that wants a little buddy. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, tested negative for heartworms (adults), microchipped, dewormed, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $150. If you're interested in adopting, please complete our Adoption Application on our website at www.allpawsrescueok.org

Story
Sammie is a 7 year old long hair chihuahua/spaniel mix who is super sweet! He is a plump 18lbs and could use walks every day and a good healthy weight loss food. He's fine with other dogs and cats, doesn't need to be crated, and is potty trained. He absolutely loves his people and is fine with other animals. Now that we've had him a few weeks, we have seen a bit of nipping when he's pushed too far with teasing and playing. He does give lots of warning when he doesn't want to be bothered but young children may not understand those queues. We are recommending no young children at this time. All dogs are spayed/neutered, current on age appropriate vaccinations, tested negative for heartworms, microchipped, dewormed, and current on hearworm/flea prevention. The adoption fee is $200. If you're interested in adopting please complete our Adoption Application on our website at www.allpawsrescueok.org.

Story
Look at this sweet couple! Meet Edith & Elmer! Edith has the brown on her back and is female and Elmer is male. They are both estimated to be around 9 years old. They are both super sweet and good with new people. They are a bonded pair so they will have to find a home big enough for the both of them! They were taken to a local animal shelter after their owner passed away which is where we transferred them to our program from. Typically, the adoption fee for all dogs in our rescue is $150. However, since these two are a bonded pair their adoption fee is $100 each ($200 total). If you are interested in setting up a meet & greet with them you can apply for them here: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/52567/generic We will review your application and if it has been approved we can schedule a time for your to meet the pup you are interested in! Since we are a training based rescue during the meeting we will go over training and how to implement training into your daily lives. After you have met the dog you are interested in and decide you would like to adopt we have a two week foster-to-adopt period. This allows you to take the dog home with you and see if this is the perfect fit for your lifestyle! At the end of the two weeks if you decide to adopt, you will then pay the adoption fee, & make it official!

Story
***Please submit applications at www.becauseofyourescue.org All applications will be verified.*** Maggie came to us as a stray in a local shelter where she was about to be euthanized. She had great difficulty walking because her knees and legs were in horrible condition. After many months of surgery and recovery, Maggie was ready for her new home, only no one ever came to adopt her. She's a large chi mix at approx 10lbs, but she's sweet, social and well mannered. She's doggie door and crate trained. Maggie would love a quiet, ADULT ONLY home...she would LOVE to be an only pet, but is good with other small calm dogs. Maggie deserves to spend her last years in a real home, where she can be loved for the really great dog she is. She requires a secure fenced yard, no apartments please. Maggie is spayed, vaccinated, micro-chipped, heartworm tested/on preventative & micro-chipped. Maggie qualifies for our "seniors adopting seniors program" ***If interested in Maggie, Please SUBMIT AN APPLICATION found at www.becauseofyourescue.org *** We require all pets in the home to be spayed/neutered (unless deemed medically unable per your vet, due to health) & current on heartworm preventative.

Story
SIX PACK HAS BEEN LOOKING FOR HIS FUREVER HOME FOR 313 DAYS! Six Pack is a male beagle-chihuahua mix, approximately eight years-old and around twelve pounds. Unfortunately, he came to the rescue heartworm positive, but has gone through treatment and is now ready to find his forever home. Six Pack is a lover once he knows and trusts you. His favorite place in on foster mom’s lap and he follows his person everywhere. New people make him a little nervous. There are no small children here, so I’m not sure how he would be with them. I think he’d be fine with older kids though. He gets along great with all the other dogs in his foster home, both big and small. He does show a little bit of lap guarding with the other dogs when in his favorite spot, but when told NO sternly, he usually settles down and shares the space. Now Six Pack does mark, so he must wear a belly band in the house. His belly band will go with him to his new home. He is crate trained and stays in his “den” at night and while foster mom is at work. I think he would do fine outside the crate though as long as his belly band was on. He’s not destructive at all. Most of the day you can find him basking in the sun or snuggled under a blanket.

Story
Meet Smeargle aka Jack. He is a 2 year old chihuahua/terrier mix that weighs 12 lbs. He loves to play with toys and play chase with his foster dog siblings. He is very adaptive to the vibe of the house and your activities. So, he can be playful or just chill in your lap. He is good about being held too. He is good on a leash. He is crate trained and working on his potty training. He is good with other dogs but hasn’t lived with a cat so we don’t know how he would be in that situation. He would probably be better in a home with older children. He is a great dog that is looking for his forever home. His foster mom thinks he is the best.

Story
Nickit is around eight months old and is a chihuahua or rat terrier mix of some type. If you want a lap dog, then Nickit is your girl! She’s the best snuggle buddy and loves her people. She gets along great with all the dogs in her foster home, both big and small. However, Nickit may be a little nervous around new dogs at first and may snap if they get in her face. She also shows a little bit of lap guarding tendency, but is easily corrected by being put on the floor if she gets possessive. While she’s only been in her foster home for a short time, Nickit hasn’t had any accidents inside so she’s doing great in the housebreaking department! Nickit is crate trained and stays in her “den” at night and while foster mom is at work. She’s still a puppy and has quite a bit of energy. But there’s nothing better than watching her run zoomies in the yard with her dog friends. She’ll keep you laughing!
