Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Mr. Poppy This adorable little fella is a spitfire to say the least. He came from a hoarding situation with a lot of other dogs. When he came in he was petrified. We took in several dogs from this home and with each drop-off... they told us these were the last dogs in the home. The dogs were not handled much and he will still run from you if he feels threatened or knows you want to put him in his crate. He can be crated and should be when you are not home, but he really doesn't care for it. Mr. Poppy will require a home with at least one other smaller to medium sized pup or a home where his people are home more often than not. He prefers adults and is what we call our "Parrot dog". He is happy to be laying with you, in your lap, or lounging on your shoulder watching tv. He does currently sleep in bed with his foster mom and dad, so he will need a home where this is ok and furniture is not off-limits. We would suggest a home that is not extremely active as he is reactive to strangers when they first come into the home. He does not do well on car rides, so he will be happy to just hang out at the house with you, rather than going on trips to the store, etc. We are recommending no children under 15 for this little guy. He wants to be the only "kid" in the house. If having a companion who thinks you are his world is what you are looking for and are willing to deal with his limitations, then Mr. Poppy is your boy! When applying to adopt through ODAAT, please know that we take pride in placing our animals appropriately based on their needs and personality. We want the best family for them and the perfect fit for your family. All applications are ran prior to choosing an adopter... This process takes time and we do not adopt out on a "first come first served" basis. Applications are found on our website www.onedogatatime.us .   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 9, 2026, 11:55 am

Story
Age: 11 months Size: 15 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua/Pekingese mix   Handsome Beaufort was found as a stray all by his lonesome. He had cherry eye, which the shelter surgically corrected during his neuter, and he thought he had found a forever family to heal with. Unfortunately, his potential adopters ghosted him, leaving Beaufort scared and alone once more in the noisy shelter. A staff member took him home and discovered just what a fun, awesome little guy he is! Once space opened up with a foster home here, we brought him up to PA to find (only the best) forever home for this perfect boy.    Beaufort is 11 months old and weighs 15 lbs. We are guessing he is a chihuahua/pekingese mix but we can't say for sure! He has the silkiest fur, a curly tail, and a smushier face than your typical chihuahua. He also missed the memo on the chihuahua attitude, because Beaufort is nothing but sweet and friendly. He makes friends with everyone he meets and has been in foster care with other dogs of all shapes and sizes, cats, and kids. No one is a stranger to Beaufort! We've also never seen a dog come off a 48-hour transport so happy and carefree. Beaufort is one perfect pup and we can't wait to see who is lucky enough to make him theirs forever!    To adopt Beaufort, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Beaufort's adoption fee is $350, which covers his neuter, vaccines, monthly prevention, and microchip.    Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366March 8, 2026, 12:52 pm

Story
Meet Skipper! ❤️ 🐾 Skipper is (estimated at 9 years young) an auburn chipper male. Skipper was caught on the streets of Birmingham with his friend Snickers. So, we honestly think they came from the same home. Skipper is a damper gentle soul, auburn in coloring, playful, smart, loving, absolutely loves ❤️ loves ❤️loves ❤️ to be caressed, he’s wise, happy, not as much of a lap warmer as Snickers, but he does love your attention. He has long graceful legs and is a whoot. 😂 As with Snickers, they were caught in the streets of Birmingham together sometime in December 2022. Both are both house trained with regular trips outside. A fenced backyard would be great and preferred! Since they are believed to have lived outside on their own for a time, being on the leash is a learning experience. When they are together, if they see other fur babies they get really excited and like to bark. Which is probably, how they survived on their own for so long as a way to protect themselves being so small and older. Even though Skipper eventually warms up to new dogs, it takes a while, and he would probably be happiness as an only dog in his next home. Skipper is very much loved in his foster home. Thus, only the most perfect of home him will he grace. 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama, Pennsylvania and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!

TAO IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN, AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO PA ONCE ADOPTED!    Meet Tao, a charming 3–4 year old neutered male who’s ready to find his forever home. While he enjoys playtime with his toys, what Tao loves most is being close to his people. Whether it’s relaxing beside you or following you around the house, he’s happiest when he’s near his family. Tao is both crate trained and housebroken, and he’s also comfortable using puppy pads if needed. His friendly, easygoing personality makes him a wonderful fit for families with children and other dogs of a similar size. Affectionate and loyal, Tao loves giving snuggles and sweet kisses to the people he loves. If you’re looking for a loving companion who will stay by your side, Tao might just be the perfect match. He is fully vetted. Vetting includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and all dog vaccinations. His adoption fee of $600 includes the transport to PA. Story
If you’re looking for a young, adorable, super sweet and loveable little guy, Howie fits the bill. Although he loves to snuggle and keep your lap warm, he’s a lot of fun too! He enjoys playing with the other little dogs, his toys and exploring the yard and he’s active without being hyper. He’s always a happy boy and he loves everyone that he meets! Howie will make a wonderful companion for some lucky family! Howie is 8 months old (dob 7/27/25), weighs 11 pounds, has been neutered, 4DX heartworm tested, microchipped, fecal tested, is current on all vaccinations, worming, heartworm and flea prevention. His adoption fee is $400. Howie is being fostered in Tennessee. Once adopted he will be transported to his pickup location by a professional dog transport company. Our rescue ships to the Northeast area every week and his fee includes transportation. Due to state laws, we cannot accept applications from residents of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island or Maine since we can’t adopt directly to those states.

Story
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.3/16/26 Faith Chihuahua7-8 lbs7 years old (estimate)Faith came to us a while back. She was a stray who was trying her best to survive on her own, but she was really struggling. She was skin and bones and covered in mange, and infected with heartworms as well as other parasites. Residents in the area said she had been on her own for a long time out there. I will never understand how people can see a little 7 lb dog on the street, struggling to survive, and not help her, but that's exactly the situation she was in. We have taken care of all of that, and she is now healthy and happy. Faith is a very small girl, about 7-8 lbs. She is older but we can't be sure whether she is truly a senior, or she just has the lasting effects of a hard life making her appear older than she is. We are estimating her age at about 7 years. This little baby is so incredibly sweet. Her only flaw is that when she is curled up under a blanket sleeping, she does not like to be disturbed! She will growl when someone approaches her while she is sleeping. She has never bitten anyone, but she acts like she will if you bother her while she is asleep. I believe she developed this behavior as a means to survive, protecting herself against the much larger strays in the area. Other than that, she is just the sweetest little girl. She probably would not be a good choice for a home with young kids. She does tend to be a little nervous natured, like most chihuahuas, so a calm, adult only home would be best for her. However, visiting children would be fine, as long as they know not to bother her while she is sleeping. She is in a foster home that includes a small human of 5 years old, and she has been fine with him, but he is respectful of her. I can see Faith being the PERFECT companion to a senior citizen or middle aged person who just wants a little dog for companionship. We hope to find her a loving home where she will never have to wonder if she will have another meal, and will never have to fight other dogs to get a morsel of food. If you can give her that, please let us know! She is ready to meet you! Faith is located in Arkansas and can be adopted locally, or she can transport to the New England area if adopted there. If adopted in New England, her adopter will need to pick her up (or arrange for a trusted friend/family to pick him up) on a Saturday in PA, NY, or CT. Residents of other states may adopt as well, as long as they can meet our transporter along their route. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
