Story
Meet Skipper! ❤️ 🐾 Skipper is (estimated at 9 years young) an auburn chipper male. Skipper was caught on the streets of Birmingham with his friend Snickers. So, we honestly think they came from the same home. Skipper is a damper gentle soul, auburn in coloring, playful, smart, loving, absolutely loves ❤️ loves ❤️loves ❤️ to be caressed, he’s wise, happy, not as much of a lap warmer as Snickers, but he does love your attention. He has long graceful legs and is a whoot. 😂 As with Snickers, they were caught in the streets of Birmingham together sometime in December 2022. Both are both house trained with regular trips outside. A fenced backyard would be great and preferred! Since they are believed to have lived outside on their own for a time, being on the leash is a learning experience. When they are together, if they see other fur babies they get really excited and like to bark. Which is probably, how they survived on their own for so long as a way to protect themselves being so small and older. Even though Skipper eventually warms up to new dogs, it takes a while, and he would probably be happiness as an only dog in his next home. Skipper is very much loved in his foster home. Thus, only the most perfect of home him will he grace. 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Meet Chili, a gentle 4-year-old Chihuahua mix with a fondness for comfort. At 13 pounds, she is a well-mannered companion who walks nicely on a leash, travels well in the car, and appreciates a quiet home.Chili enjoys being near her people and is very obedient. She can be initially shy, especially around men, and would thrive in a patient, calm home. She gets along wonderfully with other small dogs and is playfully curious about cats, though her feelings on larger dogs are unknown. A home with older children would be best. She is house-trained and well-behaved when left alone. While she’s still learning to be a cuddler with humans, she loves to burrow under blankets and will politely ask for your help to get settled. Please carry her like a baby, as she does not like her belly touched. Her favorite things include a secure yard, a good marrow bone, and a soft sofa—though she will firmly object to the sight of a broom or mop.Chili is a sweet and sensitive soul waiting for a loving, understanding family to offer her a forever spot in their home and heart.Chili is located in Houston, TX. Transport to most states is available for an additional fee of $300.

Story
Meet Peanut!Peanut is an 8-week-old Chihuahua mix who is more than ready for his happily-ever-after. His two sisters have already found their homes, so now it’s Peanut’s turn to shine!Peanut came to us at just 4 weeks old after his mama was tragically hit by a car. Since then, he’s been lovingly raised, doted on, and thoroughly spoiled - and it shows. He’s a happy, playful, busy little guy who believes every moment is meant for fun. Toys, zoomies, wrestling with anything willing… Peanut is all in.Like any true puppy, Peanut is not house trained, and yes - if you leave it on the floor, he will absolutely try to chew it. Shoes, socks, mystery objects? Fair game. He’s curious, energetic, and still learning how the world works. He’ll need a patient, committed family ready to guide him through puppyhood with plenty of playtime, supervision, and love.Peanut is looking for a home that understands that puppies are a lot of work - but even more reward. If you’re ready for laughter, chaos, cuddles after he finally crashes, and a lifetime of companionship, Peanut just might be your perfect match.

Hello! My name is Poppa! Meet Poppa Poppa is a lively and lovable boy with energy to spare and curiosity that never quits. He’s eager to explore the world, make new friends, and be part of the action. With his expressive eyes and playful spirit, Poppa is impossible not to adore. Energy and Personality Poppa is full of enthusiasm and thrives with daily exercise and mental stimulation. He loves long walks, active play, and time with his people. He enjoys meeting new people, gets along withcats, and has a big, friendly personality that makes him a joy to be around. Training and Behavior Poppa is house trained, knows how to sit, and comes when called. He’s food motivated, goes into his crate easily, and responds well to treats, praise, and redirection. He has been barking at the door and can get a little frantic indoors, but structure has helped him relax and learn good habits. With crate time, a small fenced-off area, and supervised play in the yard, he’s learning to settle and self-soothe. Social Life He enjoys the company of people and other dogs and is learning how to balance his excitement with calm behavior. He’s affectionate and likes being near his humans, but also benefits from clear boundaries and routines. Quirks and Special Traits Poppa has an expressive face that could melt anyone’s heart. His big, bright eyes always seem to say, “What’s next?” He’s adventurous, clever, and always up for a good time. Best Home Fit Poppa will do best with an active adopter who can offer consistent structure, exercise, and affection. A fenced yard and regular walks are ideal for him. He’s learning quickly and will thrive with guidance and attention.

Story
Current Location: Seven Valleys, PA Meet Parker: The Snuggle Bug Who Plays Big Don't let his size fool you! This sweet boy loves to play with other dogs and can absolutely hold his own with the big guys. Parker brings enthusiastic energy to playtime but balances it perfectly with his mega snuggler personality. When the fun winds down, he's ready to curl up on your lap or snuggle with his canine friends. Parker is an easy going boy who fits seamlessly into home life. He's good with cats and doesn't care about them at all. He rides well in the car without needing a crate. He's doing very well with potty training and is making great progress in his crate training too. He may cry for the first few minutes when crated, but then settles in and sleeps peacefully all night. This food motivated pup is responsive and eager to please, making training a breeze. He's the kind of dog who brings joy without drama, plays hard, and loves even harder. Overall, Parker is a very sweet and easy going boy who just wants to be part of your pack. Whether he's romping with the big dogs, ignoring the cat, or snuggling on your lap, he's going to steal your heart. Ready to welcome this affectionate little guy into your home? Parker is waiting!

He loves being near his people, enjoys being held, and offers quiet companionship without being demanding. Energy and Personality Bernie is truly a low energy dog. He prefers lounging and gentle moments over busy activity. Short walks and a little playtime with his favorite toys are just right for him, and then he is content to settle back down. He thrives in calm, predictable environments and does best when life feels steady and relaxed. Training and Behavior Bernie is house trained, crate trained, and doing very well with leash training. He continues to improve on walks and now only occasionally barks at sudden noises outside. He has shown how adaptable and eager to learn he is when given gentle guidance. He knows basic cues including come, stay, and no, and understands his crate routine well. Bernie truly wants to do the right thing and responds beautifully to structure and consistency. Social Life Bernie enjoys being near his people but is not clingy. He is comfortable spending time on his own and settles easily when left alone.
