Story
Meet Skipper! ❤️ 🐾 Skipper is (estimated at 9 years young) an auburn chipper male. Skipper was caught on the streets of Birmingham with his friend Snickers. So, we honestly think they came from the same home. Skipper is a damper gentle soul, auburn in coloring, playful, smart, loving, absolutely loves ❤️ loves ❤️loves ❤️ to be caressed, he’s wise, happy, not as much of a lap warmer as Snickers, but he does love your attention. He has long graceful legs and is a whoot. 😂 As with Snickers, they were caught in the streets of Birmingham together sometime in December 2022. Both are both house trained with regular trips outside. A fenced backyard would be great and preferred! Since they are believed to have lived outside on their own for a time, being on the leash is a learning experience. When they are together, if they see other fur babies they get really excited and like to bark. Which is probably, how they survived on their own for so long as a way to protect themselves being so small and older. Even though Skipper eventually warms up to new dogs, it takes a while, and he would probably be happiness as an only dog in his next home. Skipper is very much loved in his foster home. Thus, only the most perfect of home him will he grace. 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. CHICO IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN, AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO PA ONCE ADOPTED!   Chico is easily the sweetest fun-loving dog ever. He is happy-go-lucky, he is extremely smart and is eager to please his human. He is about 8-10 years old and 13lbs. Chico loves to cuddle with his person. He knows sit, come, back, find “whatever you ask him”. Chico is house trained and crate trained. He recently had a dental. Chico is a good eater. He is polite and loves meeting new people. Chico was an only dog in his original setting, walked into his multi dog foster home and immediately became the cruise director. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes. His favorite foster sibling are the pretty larger females! Chico is crate trained and house trained. He sleeps with his foster mom or in his open crate – his choice. Chico loves lap time. The best home for Chico will have a secure fence. Kids over 10 and with excellent doggy manners would be okay. Another well temperamented dog would be fabulous. An excellent history of vet care for current or previous pets is required. Previous specific breed experience will be given preference. He is fully vetted including spay/neuter, microchip, rabies and all puppy vaccinations. His adoption fee of $600 includes the transport to PA. We use a licensed and registered USDA transport company that will bring Chico up north to his new family.   If you have any questions, please email us at: newbeginnings_animalrescue@yahoo.com You can apply to adopt Chico here: www.newbeginningsanimalrescue.net THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING ADOPTING A RESCUED PET!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 1:30 pm

Story
Age: 1 year Size: 16 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua mix Lives with: Dogs & cat Perfect home: At least one other resident dog, securely fenced-in yard   From my foster: We would like to introduce you to Odie. Odie began his life living with more dogs than any dog would ever want to live with, 63 to be exact, so when he came to us he was very frightened and untrusting of humans. With a lot of patience and love from his foster siblings and foster humans Odie has learned that people can be trusted and having doggie siblings to lay on and play with is the best! Odie loves snuggling with humans and dogs, and the cat lays with him too (though Odie doesn't even notice it). When he isn't cuddling, Odie enjoys playtime in the yard, swimming in the creek, and following the humans around the house. Odie is great with dogs and would prefer a home with at least one other dog. He is good with cats, and once he learns he can trust them, he is sweet and snuggly with humans. He's done fine with children who go slowly with him too.    To adopt Odie, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366April 14, 2025, 5:20 pm

Story
Age: 6 years Size: 9.5 lbs Estimated breed: Chihuahua mix   Louie entered a local shelter as part of a hoarding case. Over 63 chihuahuas were rescued from a single home which was completely trashed and filled with urine, feces, and actual trash. They were taken to a local shelter and provided with proper medical care and behaviorally assessed before joining a few different local rescues. We were lucky enough to have Louie join us and begin his search for a forever home!  Louie is a lover to the people who he knows and trusts! He can be wary of strangers, but once you're in his circle of trust, he's a loyal and loving boy. Louie lives with multiple dogs of all different sizes and does well with them all. He also lives with a cat (who is bigger than him) and doesn't bother him at all. Louie is in foster care with two older teens who he does great with, but due to his typical chihuahua spiciness he will not be placed with children under 12 years old. Louie is crate trained but can also be trusted out of the crate for short periods of time. He never had access to the outside for the first 6 years of his life, so his new owners should expect to continue working on house training with him. Fortunately, his fosters have done an amazing job at teaching him to potty outside and he only rarely has accidents or marks inside now! Louie is a loyal boy who in typical chihuahua fashion, becomes very attached to his person and shows them a lot of affection once he knows and trusts them.    To adopt Louie, please apply on our website! https://www.nirvanaanimalrescue.org/adoption-application   Please note we cannot guarantee the age or breed of any of our dogs. All of our dogs are working on their crate and house training.   PA Kennel License #18366May 9, 2025, 5:11 pm
