Good with dogs,
Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 07/19/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Born into rescue Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Taco is up to date on vaccines for his age. Taco's mom Gigi is a tan & white chihuahua. We believe his dad is either a terrier or chinese crested that lived in the same area at the home.  Weight: We expect Taco will be between 10-15 lbs when full grown Height: We expect Taco will be 8 inches when full grown Spayed/Neutered: No. Taco is too young to be neutered. He will be adopted on a spay/neuter addendum that requires you to neuter him at your cost within 9 months and provide proof of neuter. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Puppies need canine friends. Taco's ideal home has another young dog for play and socialization. If you don't have another dog, you must be able to describe a plan for regular (at least 4 times/week) play and socialization with other dogs. A person scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and can provide multiple potty breaks throughout the day and night is a must. He is a baby and needs play breaks as well as frequent and consistent potty times to aid in potty training.  What is my personality like? Taco - tiny but mighty, thinks he's a Doberman. He loves to get on the bed when his foster brother jack the Doberman is on the bed, he runs under Jacks' chin and gives him a nibble, then runs back to foster mom like home base!  Taco is wide open. He needs buddies and needs an active life. Taco is the leader of the pack. PUPPY POLICY: Thank you for carefully considering the addition of a puppy to your family. Puppies can be a joyous experience, but they can also be a tremendous amount of work. Since our goal is to place each of our dogs in forever homes, we are especially cautious with puppies. We like to stress 3 major things when considering a puppy vs. an adult dog: 1) many adult dogs are well bred, well trained dogs who find themselves in rescue through no fault of their own, 2) adult dogs are eager to share their love and bond with their new family, and 3) puppies will always require far more time, energy, and training than an adult dog. Our ideal puppy adopters are: -experienced dog owners with a solid record of excellent vet care of their previous pets -scheduled away from home for no more than 4 hours per day and have another canine companion already in the home -stay at home type of people (work at home, home schoolers, retired, etc) How do I act when I first meet new people? Taco is a friendly, active puppy. Other tips and tidbits: Taco was born 07/19/2025 House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Gigi arrived in rescue pregnant. Her puppies are ready for their forever homes now and so is Gigi. It's her time to learn to be a companion! Gigi is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Weight:14 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Gigi will do best in a calm and predictable environment where each day feels safe and familiar. Sudden changes or loud chaos can overwhelm her, but in a patient and gentle home, she will continue to blossom. Once Gigi comes around, she is your little shadow, following from one area to the next alongside her buddies! Gigi adores the company of other small dogs and truly thrives when she has a canine friend by her side. Gigi is happiest when she can follow another dog’s lead—she finds comfort and confidence in their presence and learns so much from watching how they interact with the world. She requires another confident dog to learn from and grow with. Gigi is not cat friendly. She does not attack them, but she charges them and scares them off or scares them away from her.  If you are considering adopting Gigi - a hoarding survivor - please read this important article before you submit an application: https://bestfriends.org/pet-care-resources/what-expect-when-rescuing-puppy-mill-dog What is my personality like? Gigi is a gentle Chihuahua momma with a big heart and strength that shines through her slightly shy demeanor. She adores the company of other small dogs and truly thrives when she has a canine friend by her side. Gigi is happiest when she can follow another dog’s lead—she finds comfort and confidence in their presence and learns so much from watching how they interact with the world. However, as a momma Gigi has shown that she can be a leader! She can stand up for herself and keep the kiddos in line. Rescued from a hoarding situation, Gigi is still learning what it means to be a cherished family member. The “pet life” is new to her, and she is taking her time discovering all the good things it has to offer—soft blankets, gentle pets, and the security of a daily routine. She will need patience, understanding, and consistency as she continues to come out of her shell. Thankfully, Gigi is a fast learner and eager to please. Once she understands what’s expected of her, she settles beautifully into the flow of her new life, especially when guided by another friendly dog. Gigi enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring the yard or soaking up the sunshine, but she has also learned to love curling up indoors for a nap in a cozy bed or blanket. She walks decently on a leash and is gradually learning that walks can be fun adventures rather than something to be nervous about. More walks and adventures and we know she will simply love to go! go! go! With time and love, Gigi will reward her family with endless sweetness and loyalty—and she will thrive knowing she is finally safe, loved, and home. How do I act when I first meet new people? Gigi is still very timid. She will be far more interested in meeting your dog than you. Other tips and tidbits: My estimated birthday is 3/26/2022! House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Oscar would be happy as your only pet, or living with other pets. You can work outside the home and offer him a mid-day break, or be home during the day. You can live in a single-family home or a townhome/apartment. Oscar's one requirement is cuddling in the bed at night. He sleeps pressed against his foster mom and thinks this is the best way to snuggle. What is my personality like? Meet Oscar, the Chihuahua mix with the world’s biggest smile and the happiest little heart! Found wandering the streets without a care in the world, Oscar greeted everyone he met with that signature grin. This sweet boy is the definition of go-with-the-flow — easygoing, gentle, and ready to roll with whatever the day brings. Oscar loves people, enjoys the company of other dogs, and is a total champ in the car. How do I act when I first meet new people? Oscar meets new people with ease. He's a low-key sort of boy that thinks new faces are new friends. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Tim Duncan is neutered, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Tim is on pimobenden for his heart.  His dose is 1.25 mg twice per day.  Cost for 50 pills (25 day supply at 1800petmeds is $2.48 per day).  Tim has a 3 out of 6 heart murmur.  This medication is ongoing for life. Tim Duncan is suitable for a home or an apartment and would do well with a family or single adopters and prefer humans who are home more than they are away. He’s an easy going, mature dog who is looking for gentle, calm owners who will unconditionally provide love and support for the pair. He wants humans who have low expectations of him, and a firm belief that your dogs are the most important creatures on earth!  What is my personality like? Meet Tim Duncan - a quiet, sweet Chihuahua with the heart the size of a lion and the body of a baked potato. He is the gentle, and thoughtful type who prefers to observe the world from the safety of his cozy spot! While Tim may be a bit reserved at first, once he feels safe, his soft eyes and tender heart will melt yours, He’s a “let's all sit quietly and watch the world together” kind of guy. He is looking for a patient, loving home where he can continue to blossom. Tim Duncan enjoys things like yummy treats, back scratches, frolicking in the sun and following other dogs around of course! If you’re willing to give him a little time and patience, you’ll uncover a world of sweetness. He desperately needs adopters who will appreciate his quiet, gentle presence.  Here's what Tim Duncan's previous owners had to say about him...."He is a big personality in a small package. He is spunky and loves to take a walk on a leash and does well when given time. He enjoys just being with his person whether that is hanging out on the couch asleep at their head or being their co pilot on an adventure. He is sometimes a grump but that is just his age. He has a little pur that maybe interpreted incorrectly when he is happy. He will sing with you such as happy birthday or sympathy howl with a tiny human if he is connected to them. He is loyal but does vocally greet people and collect their pets and love." If you’re looking for endless love and entertainment, look no further! How do I act when I first meet new people? Tim Duncan is a low key dog. He is gentle and quiet. Don't expect him to run up and greet you - he's more likely to wait and watch and approach on his terms. Once he determines you're okay, he will be very happy for you to shower him with pets and affection. Other tips and tidbits: Tim Duncan's birthday is 1/28/2014 House trained? Thank you for considering CPR. December 9, 2025, 11:52 am
