Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 4/28/2021 Reason for being in rescue: Raiden landed at a local shelter as part of a hoarding case. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled him from the shelter. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Raiden is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and heartworm negative. Weight: 9 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Raiden is a project dog. He absolutely requires someone with rescue experience, ideally someone experience rehabilitating dogs from hoarding cases or feral colonies. Raiden requires a home with another dog. He is indifferent to cats. Raiden is not well suited for a home with lots of visitors. He isn't suited for children. He needs a quiet, consistent routine and lots of patience. Everything you teach him will be new. What is my personality like? Raiden arrived in rescue via a hoarding case where they grew up having to fight for everything. This is a lifestyle that leaves dogs severely under-socialized with limited understanding of positive human interactions and a tendency toward resource guarding behaviors. Though humans make Raiden nervous he is very curious about us and he has taken to the routine lifestyle at the rescue really well and now knows he never have to go without a meal. They say that time and consistency and love can heal all wounds. Raiden is certainly a testament to the progress that the gifts of time and human compassion can do for a dog. Raiden's caregivers describe him as a tendor boy with soulful eyes. He follows his humans way closer than the rest with a look that says I want to love you and you to love me, I just don’t know how. He is definitely more of a submissive chi but can stand his own ground.  Raiden is a project. He needs a home with LOTS of patience as he continues to mature into being a pet. Raiden has been known to sneak a lick on his caregivers' leg when they aren't looking. He clearly wants to give love and be loved - it will just take time and patience. Raiden may never be a lap dog, but has the potential to be a loving companion.  How do I act when I first meet new people? Timid and shy Other tips and tidbits: Raiden is estimated at 7 years old. We celebrate his birthday as 4/28/2015. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. June 1, 2023, 5:37 pm

Peanut is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Peanut has severe dental disease. She had a dental on 5/17/23 and lost most of her teeth. She will require regular dentals. Our vet noted a 1mm corneal scar on one of Peanut's eyes. It is from an old injury, has healed, and does not require further treatment. Weight: 7.5 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No, but she would love one What kind of home would be best for me? While we know very little about Peanut's life pre-rescue, we know that she has always lived with other dogs and she has clearly known human affection. Though shy at first, she loves the people she knows and trusts. Peanut could be happy as the only dog of someone home during the day and looking for a go everywhere companion. She would also be happy with another active dog to learn from and play with. Peanut will benefit from training and exposure to new environments. She has likely never lived with children. What is my personality like? Peanut was seized by animal control along with 8 other dogs and landed at an animal shelter. Her owner had moved away and left her dogs behind. Carolina Poodle Rescue pulled her from the shelter. We have no background on what her life may have been like before arriving in rescue. Peanut is an estimated 4 year old female Chihuahua who is looking for a home where she can thrive, grow, and blossom into the perfect pet for her perfect family. Peanut enjoys the company of other dogs but doesn’t necessarily have to have another in her future home. Peanut is an absolute lovebug once she claims you as her own, and will do everything she can to please her people. Peanut needs a home where her owner is home more than they are away, as she needs a consistent routine in order to develop a sense of safety and comfort. How do I act when I first meet new people? Peanut can be shy when meeting new people, she quickly comes around after realizing she is in a safe space. Once comfortable, she will follow you around wherever you choose to go and will promise to always be your sidekick.  Other tips and tidbits: Peanut is estimated at 4 years old. We have no records from her pre-rescue life. We celebrate her birthday as 5/2/2019. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. Story
Meet Oscar. Oscar came to us when a good samaritan found him in a ditch after he had been struck by a vehicle. He has a slight fracture in his pelvis which on x-rays still shows but he is very active, mobile, and has no issues. We consulted our vets and was advised he has no mobility problems so we should leave it be. We do not see doing something major when he has no issues, but it is something that may or may not affect him in later years. He is ready to find a forever home to spoil him as he so deserves. He will need someone that understands the breed, but given some decompression time, he will be your best buddy for life. RECOMMENDATIONS & PROCEDURES Please note, the following are recommendations for puppies and different breeds of dogs. We will evaluate each application on an individual basis to see what is best for the dog/puppy and the potential adopter. Puppies are very fragile and not toys. We recommend children be at least six years old to be considered to adopt a puppy. Small breed dogs ( such as chihuahuas, yorkies, shih tzus , etc) we recommend children be at least eight years old. Herding, working breeds we recommend children to be at least 12 years old. Again these are recommendations. Adoption Procedures: We will travel up to two hours ( one way) to do physical home visits and we do not do virtual home visits. Most of our dogs come from bad situations and we want to know where their forever home is going to be. While we do not require fencing on all dogs, certain dogs that need a fenced in yard, will not be adopted unless potential adopter has one. We also adopt some dogs to people who live in apartments ( as long as the landlord approves) but not all dogs. We do not adopt to anyone under 21 years of age. We also do not feel college students are the best fit for most of our dogs. Most of our dogs again, come from bad situations and need lots of attention. Most college students have financial responsibilities and we feel need to be focused on school. Our goal is to match the dog with a family that fits the dog’s needs. We are solely focused on what is best for each dog in our rescue. These dogs have had enough moving around, dumped out like trash, and we want to ensure they find their forever home. We do require you sign a contract and if at any time you cannot continue to provide for the dog, the dog comes back to the rescue. Your first step to adoption is filling our our on line application. You will then get an automated email stating we got your application Next our adoption coordinator will be in touch either by phone or email If your references check out, a home visit will be scheduled. After the home visit is done, a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in and/or any other available dogs we have will be scheduled If the dog and you are a match, contract will be signed and you may take your new family member home.
