Adoption Area: East Tennessee Riblet needs: -Professional belly rubber -Patient owner who will give me time to warm up to you -Children over 12 -Calm and quiet home -If there is a cat in the home, needs to be a dog-savvy cat as he may chase Hi, I'm Riblet!! I am an adorable 3 yr old, 11 lb male Chihuahua mix and I somehow became homeless. Luckily, Small Breed Rescue was able to bring me in and I'm hanging out in a foster home waiting for my forever place. My foster mom tells me I'm pretty perfect but new owners will need to be patient and give me time to get comfortable. I think 3-6 hours should be enough! Within a week you will see my full, happy, goofy self! I love to play fetch by myself or with you and snuggle on the sofa during down time. Foster mom is teaching me all sorts of things about being a good boy. Things like not marking my spot in the house and sleeping in a crate. We also are working on more fun things like tricks. I'm a smart guy so I'd love someone to teach me more! Oh, did I tell you I love going on car rides?! I do! Foster mom takes me to the hardware store and we even have gone to the mountains. I hang out in my crate and keep quiet when she drives too fast! I also just learned that I think hiking is pretty cool! Foster Mom says she is super impressed with me! If there are other dogs in the home, I am probably not going to play or be their best friend. I am rather indifferent to dogs as I am more focused on my person. Now for those not so perfect things about me.... I can be a little wary of strangers and sudden movements so my new parents will have to work on my confidence. Because of this it would be best if there were no small children in the home. I LOVE to chase cats!!! This might be okay if you have a dog-savvy cat who will bop me on the nose but it's definitely not okay if your cat doesn't like pup-arazzi up in his space! I can embrace my Chihuahua side and bark along with the rest of them if something needs to be barked about! I might not be a good fit if you live in an apartment. The vet says I have a slippy hock on my rear leg. Sometimes you will see me hold my leg up when I walk. There is not a fix for this but it really doesn't bother me — just the way I was born. I’m neutered, microchipped, also up to date on my vaccines, flea and heartworm preventions. My adoption fee is $175. Don’t forget I’m looking for a professional belly rubber. Hi this is Gigi, her birthday is 2/24/2018. She is 6 1/2 yrs old &6 pounds. She loves to play fetch & tug of war. She has so many toys around here, that it looks like we have a toddler.😀 She is house trained as well as potty pad trained, to go in the bathroom. If you have a fenced in backyard she will go outside, but it needs to be fenced, as she is a runner. She loves to lay in the sun and go for long car rides. Which makes her a a great travel dog. She is definitely a lap dog and loves her people immensely.. She is a great protector, in a good way. I am looking for either a retired couple for her or a family with older children, as I do not think she will be a good fit for small children. She is very sensitive to leash, harnesses, sweaters, etc, as she don't like any of them, so I carry her around in a satchel, which she loves and it makes her feel secure. Our loss will definitely be the right families gain. She comes with all her things, create, beds, toys, pads, etc .

Rocco has been in his foster for several weeks. He is a short-haired Chihuahua about three years old and weighs nine pounds. Rocco gets along well with the other two Chihuahuas in the home. He is sweet, energetic, and likes to cuddle with you on the sofa, and he is almost house-trained. He needs to go to a loving home with older children to give him plenty of attention. Rocco enjoys his toys and likes to dig them out of the toy box. He is an excellent eater and is very inquisitive. Kimmy is being fostered in PA. Update: 8/25/24 Kimmy has had her double cherry eye surgery, was spayed and recovered extremely well. She is on cyclosporine drops for a few more weeks and then she should not need any eye drops. She does have a luxating patella (kneecap that is a bit loose) that her foster mom wouldn’t have even noticed if the vet didn’t find it upon examination. No treatment is necessary at this time. She also has a cute habit of placing her tip toes of her one back foot on the floor when standing and /or eating. She has scar tissue on her one toe from an older injury so she may have gotten in the habit of favoring that foot when she was a stray. There is no sign of injury or discomfort at other times and it does not limit her at all. Her playful mouthiness is almost completely non existent unless she is extremely excited but she is very easily redirected with a chew toy. Kimmy continues to charm everyone she meets and even those who observe her from a distance. Her foster mom and others describe her as the perfect girl. Kimmy’s vision has improved to excellent since her eye infection and cherry eyes have been corrected. She does not appear to have visual impairments at this time but if she does, they are minor. She is a wonderful lap dog, loves her human and is good on a leash. Kimmy is a sweet, young, little girl who has transitioned into her foster home very quickly. Her breed is a guess of possibly chihuahua and papillon? Her pictures show her double cherry eyes but they are going to be surgically corrected on August 9th, 2024. Over the past month Kimmy's vision has been upgraded to good in both eyes!! Her poor vision was significantly restored with proper care and vetting once she came into rescue. Kimmy loves playing with humans or other dogs who do not mind her puppy energy. Two of the dogs in Kimmy's foster home are small and Kimmy's age and the three of them are beginning to play and run together. She is a submissive girl once she gets to know and trust the other dogs she comes in contact with. She is very smart and catches on quickly to redirection and correction when she becomes "mouthy", using her teeth to go after hands, only when playing as puppies do. She never purposefully bites, she has just never had social skills taught to her since she came from being on the streets. Kimmy loves people and is most often found lying on her foster mom's lap or right beside her on the sofa. She loves to be pet anywhere and everywhere. Overall, Kimmy is a very quiet and calm girl, especially for her young age. Kimmy rides very well in the car. Kimmy is doing amazing with house training, as she uses a crate when her foster mom is not home and is taken outside immediately when her mom gets home. She has a very occasional accident in the house but that's amazing for the short time she's been living inside a home. This little lady is going to make a perfect little companion for someone! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

This little fella needs to find a very special adopter!! We don't know much about his background, but he came to us because his person had died,, and after the trauma of that event,, he had to deal with strange people and new places and other critters and it was all a bit much for him.... His default position when scared is to growl and snarl! We set him up in a nice quiet spot without anyone threatening on the other side of a partition, and just pretty much let him chill..... One day a week or two into this routine, it was like a light switch had been turned on! He decided I was an okay person and the growling and snarling was replaced by an enthusiastic little dog spinning and jumping around and wanting to give kisses. He didn't initially want anything to do with the other small dogs, but after a bit he decided they were okay and he likes to go out in the area with them and explore, he doesn't have much to do with them as far as playing, but there is no aggression. We've also learned that he has a definite preference for the ladies.... Skipper needs a quiet environment with not a lot of folks coming and going and I would be concerned that kids wouldn't read his signals well enough not to create a problem..... So we need to find just the right home for him. He's not snapped or bit anyone here and we want that record to continue..... and it will require time and patience and consistency to manage that. If you are up for the challenge and feel you have the situation and the commitment to give this little dog that stability he needs to feel safe and loved again.... we'd love to discuss it with you.September 19, 2024, 10:22 am
