This dog is in Tennessee. Adoption Donation $200 if picked up in TN, $275 plus transport fee for out-of-state adoptions. Gidget is a gentle little sweetheart who is learning that the world can be a wonderful place and that people can be trusted. With her long legs, soft, upright ears, and delicate features, she looks a bit like a tiny fox or baby doe. She may not rush into your arms just yet, but when she chooses to sit beside you or rest her head in your lap, it feels like a special gift. At about 14 months old and 16 pounds, Gidget is a Chihuahua / Terrier mix with a moderate energy level. She enjoys peaceful walks, a little playtime indoors, and finding a sunny spot to soak up some warmth. She also likes her Kong, puzzle toys, and tossing a tennis ball around. She is food motivated and clever, making her a fun little student for a family ready to help her learn. Gidget does well with a consistent potty schedule and has been trusted to roam the house without chewing or making a mess. Her crate is her cozy retreat, and she often chooses to go there on her own. She walks nicely on leash and frequently looks to her person for guidance. New experiences can make her nervous, especially large dogs and some men, so she will need patient introductions and a calm approach. When frightened, she may try to pull away, making secure equipment and a fenced yard or leashed outings especially important. Gidget currently lives happily with the resident cat. She would likely be best in a quieter home with people who enjoy daily walks and understand that building trust takes time. She has so much potential, and the family who gives her patience and encouragement will get to watch her confidence blossom. Prior to adoption, all canines and felines are spayed or neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinations, have been de-wormed for common parasites, and have received treatment for prevention of fleas and ticks. All canines over the age of 6 months have been tested for heartworm. All canines are put on heartworm prevention as soon as possible - this means dogs as soon as they are tested negative. Puppies are put on prevention immediately. All felines, regardless of age, have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV. Each animal receives a health check by a licensed veterinarian prior to adoption.
