Sometimes a return isnt because a dog is bad.
Sometimes its because they landed in the wrong story.
Mocha recently came back to rescue, and honestly? The things that made her a challenging fit in her previous home are the exact things that will make someone else absolutely adore her.
At just 6 months old and around 8 pounds, Mocha is the smallest member of the Luna litter. Her mom was a Chihuahua/Dachshund/Terrier mix with a fabulous underbite, and thankfully Mocha inherited that same adorable little grin.
What she also inherited is a big personality.
A really big personality.
In a very tiny package.
Mocha is part wild child, part shadow, part security system, and part professional kisser.
Apartment living with young children, shared walls, constant activity, and lots of strangers coming and going turned out to be more than this little lady could comfortably handle. Shes vocal when she has opinions (and she has plenty), a little protective of her people, and still figuring out how to navigate a world full of new experiences.
Shes not a dog that wants to fade into the background.
Shes a dog that wants a relationship.
Mocha can be hesitant with new people. She doesnt hand out her trust to everyone she meets. But once youve earned your place in her circle? Youre in. Forever.
Shell watch you.
Follow you.
Love you.
Protect you.
And probably supervise every bathroom trip you ever take again.
Shes a tomboy with ears for days, endless energy, and enough sass to fill a dog three times her size.
What Mocha needs is not less life.
She needs more of the right life.
More socialization.
More adventures.
More positive experiences.
More training.
More opportunities to learn that the world is bigger than her immediate family.
She needs someone willing to invest in the dog she is becoming instead of expecting her to already have everything figured out at six months old.
House training is going well, but like all puppies, every new home means learning a new routine and new rules.
We think Mocha would shine in a home with older children, adults, or a person looking for a devoted little sidekick with opinions. Someone who appreciates a dog with character. Someone who understands that confidence is built, not born.
Because beneath all that sass is a little dog who desperately wants her person.
And once she finds them, shes going to love them with her whole heart.
