Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee Tippy needs: -Active adult home only. No children. -A fenced yard -Someone home part of the day to continue working on my house training and social skills, but I am doing well! -A small playful dog friend Tippy is a sweet, cheerful little girl who’s ready to find her forever family! She’s about a year old, weighs 11 pounds, and is a mostly tan Chihuahua mix with adorable white tips on her feet—hence the name Tippy. Tippy came to SBRET from a local shelter with several other dogs from the same house. She has settled beautifully into her foster home. She was shy and skittish at first, and she can still get nervous with loud noises or too much excitement. When she gets startled or overly excited, she may have a small potty accident, but she is making great progress with her house training. She uses the fenced backyard to do her business and is learning what this whole “leash” thing is about—she’s unsure for now, but with patience and gentle practice, she’ll catch on. This little girl LOVES to play! Toys, chew bones, and zoomies are all on her favorite’s list. She enjoys other dogs and would happily play with them, though the older dogs in her foster home aren’t quite up for her puppy energy. She’s also very affectionate and absolutely melts for belly rubs. Tippy would thrive in an active home (no children), as she is friendly and eager to interact. At night, she goes right into her crate and sleeps soundly until morning. When Tippy goes to her new home it’s going to take her just a few days to warm up but if you’re patient with her, she will be your best little buddy ever! Tippy has been spayed and is up-to-date on all her vaccinations and preventatives. Now she’s ready for her forever home—could that be with you? Tippy’s adoption fee is $175.

Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee Baby needs: -Adult home or one with gentle children over eight years old -A fenced yard or the ability to take baby for walks during the day -No attached housing since I like to monitor things going by from the window -Someone willing to help her lose another pound or two and to continue her medication and monitoring for Cushing’s disease If you are looking for a sweet, loyal and easy dog, Baby who is a Chihuahua mix is your girl! Weighs around 14 pounds and is 12 years old. She has returned to the rescue through no fault of her own, her original adopters passed away. She is a lovely, sweet and a happy dog. She loves to go on walks, being outside or relaxing on the couch right beside you—whatever you want, she’s happy to just be beside her person. Never want to go to the bathroom alone again? Here’s your dog! She will follow you often, wanting to be by your side, but remarkably never gets under foot. She prefers to sleep in the bed with her person, but will sleep in a crate or in her own bed beside your bed. She is not a huge ‘hugger’ or cuddler and won’t be a lap dog, but loves all the pets you can provide, and will tap you with her paw to let you know more petting is needed. She will bond with her person pretty quickly, but as time goes on, she gets even sweeter and sweeter as her trust develops. She has a playful side and will roll around, put her bum Iin the air and roll over for lots of belly rubs. She is a great watch dog! She will notice anything which isn’t usually there (delivery truck, people walking by the house, car pulling the driveway). She is not a problem barker but would probably not be good for attached housing. She is friendly with all dogs and very patient with her foster’s younger rambunctious dogs, thought she doesn’t engage in play very often. She does not appear to be interested one way or another in cats, but this isn’t certain. She has been diagnosed and is being treated for Cushing’s disease. She will need an adopter who will continue her treatment, and get regular blood levels done of her cortisol at her annual vet visits. Cost of medication averages from $80-$110 per month depending on where purchased. She is housetrained and will need access to puppy pads due to increased urination from the Cushing’s. She has had a dental and had 12 teeth removed but can still eat normally on her senior diet. She is a beautiful little girl, who is working on losing some weight, so her person will need to continue to work with her to lose a few more pounds for her optimal health. She absolutely loves walks and gets so excited when her halter and leash are presented. She loves being outside and would so enjoy sitting by your side on the back patio. She minds very well and wants to please her person, wagging her tail from just a glance from you. She does well when alone, with no separation anxiety. She rides well in the car in a crate. She can also be Snoopy and likes to sit on the top of the couch. If you want a sweet loyal dog who is so easy to be with, this loyal little girl is for you! Her adoption fee is $100.

Story
Hi, I’m Bambi! 🐾 (But my foster family calls me Rachel… it’s a long story involving a Friends episode and a hairless cat. Google it.) I’m a sweet, soulful little girl who arrived looking like I wandered straight out of a Disney movie- big ears, doe eyes, and all. I’m part Chihuahua and 100% heart-melter. I won’t chew your furniture, raid your trash, or redecorate while you’re gone- I’m perfectly capable of holding down the fort solo. My leash skills have come a long way, and I’d thrive in a home with a fenced yard; just know that I take the phrase “the grass is greener” very seriously, so that fence needs to be secure! I’m a sensitive soul who startles easily with sudden movements and loud noises, so I’d do best with school-aged kids or older who understand the concept of inside voices. I’d also love to be your one and only pet- I like being the star of the show. Forget treats- the way to my heart is praise, head scratches, and a warm lap. I have an extraordinary talent for finding the freshest pile of clean laundry in the house and making it my bed. You’re welcome in advance. If you’re looking for a quiet, cuddly, low-drama companion who will gaze at you with the most enormous ears you’ve ever seen, I'm your girl. Come meet me. I promise I’ll approach with caution and look very cute. Bambi is being fostered in Knoxville,TN and her adoption fee is $250

Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Blaze is a 9-10 year old female chihuahua. She came from a very large scale hoarding case with over 140 dogs. They were living in their own filth, had never been house trained, and didn't have access to medical care or clean food and water. We are working our way up to getting Blaze in healthy shape. She was spayed as soon as she arrived due to a pyometra (uterine infection). She had all of her remaining teeth removed due to severe dental disease. She is heartworm negative and vaccinated. She has had senior bloodwork and been treated for fleas and ticks. Blaze needs a patient owner who can help her feel safe and learn to trust humans. She will also need someone who can work with her on house training. She has never been on a leash before. We would not recommend a busy household or one with small children.

Story
🐾 Meet Max! 🐾 If you’ve ever wished for a dog with main character energy, look no further — Max is your guy. This 14-year-old Chihuahua mix might be small in size, but he’s got a personality (and a voice) that could fill a stadium. 🎤💥 Max doesn’t bark… he screams. Yes, literally. Just ask the Bojangles drive-thru workers who surrendered their bacon to his demands. 😆 But once you get used to it, you’ll find his “scream talk” is just his way of expressing himself — passionately. He’s got a few things that come with age and experience: some skin issues that are improving with medicated baths and good food, a quirky hip that doesn’t slow him down, and he likely needs a dental soon. Max also wears adorable little mittens to keep him from licking his hot spots (he rocks the look, honestly). He may be deaf, but that doesn’t stop him from knowing when it’s snack time. Max is cooperative for his care, loves his food, and enjoys being near his person. He’s got some battle scars from life, but he’s still full of love, attitude, and bacon-fueled energy. ❤️ He has recently been diagnosed with Cushings and is on medication for it. 📍 Fostered in Knoxville, TN 🐶 10 years old | Chihuahua mix 💰 Adoption fee: $150 🧡 Apply to adopt: knoxvintagepetproject.com/adopt
