Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee Nubbins needs: -Adult home - children must be at least 8 years of age -Someone home part of the day to continue my housetraining -Someone to help me lose a little weight so I stay healthy Hi everyone, my name is Nubbins. I’m a sweet 7-year-old Male White/Tan Chihuahua mix. I weigh in at just over 12 pounds - I’m working on getting down to a to a healthy weight and will need your help to continue with that. I had some crusty, red itchy skin and hair loss when I came to SBRET. With medicated baths (which I tolerated ok) and antibiotics my skin has cleared up. I feel so much better and my hair has started to grow back. My housetraining is coming along nicely – I’ve gotten the hang of the routine in my foster home. I do wear a belly band (a male wrap - I’ll bring it with me) when my foster mom is busy and can’t keep a close eye on me. It will take a little time for me to learn the routine in my forever home so please be patient and take me out often and everything should work out for both of us. I sleep quietly in my crate at night and when my foster mom needs to leave the house – other times she leaves the door open so I can nap there if I want to. I had never been on a leash/harness until I came to my foster home but you would never know it because I’m doing so well with that. If you happen to have a secured fenced yard for me to explore I won’t complain at all. I get along well with the other dogs in my foster home but sometimes I guard the toy I’m playing with and my foster mom tosses me another one and I move on. In my previous home there were cats and a lot of other small dogs. When my foster mom takes me for a ride in the car she crates me to keep me safe and I nap/ride quietly. I’m a cuddly sweet little guy usually but I did give the Veterinarian a bit of a hard time – he trimmed my nails, did my heartworm test and then I got ugly when they cleaned my crusty ears. Make sure anyone handling me for checkup/nail trim is aware that I might get ugly so they are prepared. For the most part I’m just your average Chihuahua without the yappy bark - I hang out on the couch when you're busy unless you're in the kitchen then I’m right there where the food is. I’m neutered, microchipped, also up to date on my vaccines, flea and heartworm preventions and had a dental. My adoption fee is $175. If you're looking for a great little companion like me contact my friends at SBRET.COM, get your application approved, and we can start spending a lot of beautiful sunny days together real soon. Hugs, Nubbins

Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee Larkin needs: -Adult home or one with children over 10 -A small, calm dog to cuddle with -Someone home part of the day to continue reinforcing my potty manners -No close neighbors as I bark if I’m left alone Hello, my name is Larkin. I am 10 years young, a male Chihuahua/Dachshund mix and weigh just under 6 lbs. My foster Mom is trying to put a little weight on me. I certainly don't mind the extra food and treats. I eat dry kibble just fine even though I am missing many teeth. I am a sweet boy who is a little bashful and somewhat nosey. And have we talked about my adorable ears — all the better to hear you with!! I am now doing well with my potty training and follow my foster buddies out the door. Remember though when I make a transition to a new home, I may have some accidents until I get your routine down just right. I would enjoy a fenced yard or patio because I do like the sunshine. I came in to foster with a group of 3 dogs surrendered to the shelter because my previous owner went into a senior facility. I’m fine without other dog companions but I would also enjoy another calm, senior dog in my forever home. I love to cuddle up with the dogs in my foster home. There are cats in my foster home and I don’t pay any attention to them. Since I am so small, an adult home or children over 10 would probably be the best and safest for me. I would really love a homebody to hang with. A walk or two, maybe a car ride sometimes. I am happiest with my person. I’m vocal when I’m left alone so I wouldn’t be a good choice if you have close neighbors like in an apartment or townhouse. I prefer to sleep and cuddle in the bed with my foster siblings and foster mom. I am not fond of a crate. I walk well on a leash and I do great with car rides. I am up to date on all vaccines, heartworm/flea prevention, dental cleaning, neutered, microchipped, etc. For more info on Larkin, contact SBRET.com. My adoption fee is $100.

Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee JJ needs: -Active adult home (no children) -Someone home part of the day to continue my potty training -No apartment/condo - can be barky -Fenced yard -No other dogs Hi all! My name is JJ! I am a 6-pound, male Long-Haired Chihuahua. I am 1 year old and I love to snuggle with my foster mom and dad. I am a loving little man and was quick to bond with my foster humans. I love my toys, especially if they squeak! I do bark at people and dogs that I do not know. Because I am reactive to other dogs, it would be best if I was an only dog. It can take me a minute to calm down and say hello to human visitors in the house, but my foster mom says I am a good boy because I quickly calm down and say hello to company. I would not be good walking in crowded places or dog parks. I will need someone to help me feel safe and work on my socialization skills. I will probably never be a social butterfly. I am content being a home boy, and a fenced yard would be my happy play space— of course, I will need you out there with me because I am so tiny. I am learning to walk on a leash and potty outside. My foster mom says I am doing great at both! I sleep in my foster parents' room in my crate next to their bed. I love sleeping in my cozy crate and rarely make a sound. I would be just as happy snuggling up in bed with my human. If you are looking for a loving home dog, I am it. Remember that I am only 1 year old and Chihuahuas frequently live 15 to 18 years so I hopefully have a long life ahead of me! I am neutered, current on vaccines and flea/heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is $175.
