Story
If you’re looking for the perfect Lady, we’ve got her right here! SNIPSA rescued this little red Chihuahua off the city’s euthanasia list just hours before her time. Lady had been surrendered to the local shelter as she had a large ulcerated mass on her chest, and her owners didn’t have the resources to care for her. So, we took Lady under our wing and started to tackle her medical needs. She had surgery to remove the large mass on her chest and also an unexpected benign tumor in her spleen. While we were able to remove both tumors, Lady has since developed several more mast cell tumors. Unfortunately, these tumors are not very responsive to chemotherapy so we have decided to provide Lady with the best life we can while she is with us. While we know it is somewhat of a tall ask, we are hopeful we can find a special person willing to love on her the duration of her earthly life. Currently, Lady is doing fantastic in her foster home. We have learned she loves to fetch and is her foster mom’s perfect shadow. She is very loyal to her chosen person but isn’t afraid to branch out and make new friends. Lady does well with cats and other dogs though being a Chihuahua she can be a little bossy:) Lady uses her special stairs to get up on the couch and she has a cozy spot that she has claimed at the foot of the bed. She is eager to join in on car rides for trips around town and will happily peek out the window to watch passing cars. With her confident and loving disposition, Lady would make a great travel buddy or work-from-home companion. She is currently taking a regiment of antacids and steroids to manage the mast cell tumors. So don’t scowl when you see she is a little on the chubby side. It’s just a crummy side effect of the prednisone. But in the end, it’s just more Chihuahua to love! Lady is one of our favorites–she is a blessing and deserves a blessing. We only want the best for her. Please consider opening your heart to this special girl.

Story
Meet Poppet, the pup popping with personality! Have you ever seen a Chihuahua/Pug mix before? Safe to say, they’re uber cute. ;) “Chugs” are also known for their upbeat spirits, which Poppet brings wherever she goes. A funny tidbit about this gal: Poppet loves munching on carrots and lettuce! Yes–she has a refined palate, but that’s not all she has to offer. Poppet is potty-trained and leash-trained, ready to showcase her manners to her new family. And while she sleeps soundly in her crate, she much prefers snuggling up on a warm lap or at the foot of your bed! When Poppet isn’t snuggling or snacking, you can find her happily engaged in playtime, chasing her favorite toys with joy and enthusiasm.  Though she may take a few minutes to warm up to strangers, Poppet’s loyalty and affection know no bounds. This pup thrives around her friends, ensuring they feel loved with showers of kisses and full-body wiggles. Poppet has bonded quickly with other animals during her time at SNIPSA, too. Given a proper introduction, she will make a great playmate for your resident dog or cat. Last but not least, Poppet won’t be getting any bigger, making her the perfect size to tag along with you wherever you go! This sweet girl has been in the SNIPSA program since December of 2023. She has yet to find the person who can give her the patience and attention she deserves. If you’re ready to offer this happy soul a chance, you’ll be rewarded with a loyal friend! Apply to meet Poppet today!

Story
Oi! Are you looking to spice up your life? Well, then let me be the taste to your test! ;) Don’t worry, I’m way nicer than that Gordon Ramsey bloke you’ve all heard of. However, I am cooking up all the right ingredients to make the perfect pooch. My leash manners are nothing short of mastered and I’m sweeter than your favorite dessert! You might be wondering how a mix like me came to be, and the truth is that your guess is as good as mine! I know a Chihuahua/Labrador mix sounds like a strange combination, but these two breeds are some of the best around. Labs and Chihuahuas are both known for their loyalty to their families, so you’re sure to find a loving companion in me. And don’t let my photos mislead you! I really am on the smaller side, maxing out at just 24 lbs. I’ve got quite a bit of energy too, so I would LOVE a home with some room to spread my legs! Whether it’s daily walks, training sessions or a good ole’ fashioned game of fetch, there’s so many activities to keep my brain and body stimulated. So, don’t go bacon my heart! Submit an application to meet me today!

Looking for the perfect little snack? Well, this gal can certainly tantalize your taste buds! Ginger is jaw-droppingly gorgeous, but you didn’t need us to tell you that. The only thing better than her looks is her chillaxed personality. Ginger is a ten-year-old senior who just loves to hang out. She will happily cozy up on a blanket or on your lap while you lounge. She would make a great work-from-home buddy or a quiet companion for a retiree! Ginger also walks well on a leash and adjusts quickly to new situations. Once you earn her favor, which doesn’t take long, she will place 100% of her trust in you. So, won’t you give this lovely lady a second chance at a forever home? Apply to meet her and give a senior dog her dream life!

Story
Apollo is a 5 1/2-month-old handsome 16-pound Rat Terrier/Chihuahua. He was a rescued off the streets by someone who could not take care of and keep him safe. A family member stepped in and asked us to place him in our group to find him a good home.  He is very playful and friendly and does well with other dogs and children of all ages. He is doing exceptional with housebreaking. Would sleep in his kennel but now is allowed to sleep in his dog bed in the open because he is so trustworthy. We expect Apollo to be a small to medium size dog and would be a great family member. He learns quickly and would benefit a Good Citizen training class. He would also enjoy the experience. Apollo has had age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchipped and has been wormed. Poquita Paws will neuter this puppy when a bit older but for now he can grow and socialize in his new family. His adoption fee is $250. If you would like to meet Apollo, please submit an application from here.ADOPTION FEE & APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Poquita Paws does not have a shelter, all of our dogs are raised in foster homes.  Each dog comes spay/neutered, rabies shots appropriate for their age, and dewormed twice.  The dogs are up to date on vaccinations according to their age at the time of adoption.  They are microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventrative.  ALL OF THIS IS INCLUDED IN THE ADOPTION FEE.
