I’ve had her since she was about 6mths. She’s an old lady now (16) and needs more attention than I can give. She is house trained but her age is making it difficult for her to hold it and she needs to go out constantly. She’s still active as she runs around with the cats I have. She’s stays hungry and thirsty for some reason. She’s a great lap dog and loves to be rubbed. I would like a pet lover to get her to handle her with care for the rest of her days!

Meet Kallen !! This little guy is a lot of fun and loves everyone. A happy boy for sure. Very friendly and outgoing. He would be a great dog for someone wanting to go on outings or adventures but is also happy to just be your bestie at home. Kallen is a Male, approx. 4 year old, Chihuahua mix best guess but he doesn’t really act like a chi at all. He weighs 13.7 pounds and is full grown. He will be neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines as part of his adoption. He is Heartworm negative and on preventatives. Kallen ended up at the shelter after he was found as a stray. He had part of a tie out line still attached to his collar. He’s been nothing but happy and grateful since we took him from the shelter. He is fostered with many other dogs of all ages and sizes including other unfixed males. He does great with all of them but would also be fine without another dog. He enjoys running the yard with the other dogs. He is a big humper of dogs (male and female) that don’t tell him to stop. He stops whenever a dog tells him to but with passive dogs he keeps trying. His upcoming neuter will likely help with that. He has not yet met cats so we are not sure how he would do. He met a few kids so far and did really well with them. He does do a lot of jumping up on people so that should be considered with small kids. He needs to be with kids old enough to not treat him like a toy. Kallen is great in the car. He also does well with the leash but pulls some when excited. He’s crate trained and goes in when asked. He’s fine crated for a full work day. He can be a bit vocal in the crate but mostly when he sees you doing things with other dogs and wants to be a part of it. He’s done well with potty training but marks his territory inside still. This is another thing his upcoming neuter will hopefully help with. He has a medium energy level. He has a spunky side and loves to run around. He’s easily excitable and fun. He also has no trouble being crated all day while you’re at work. As long as he gets that energy and excitement out he can relax and chill. He loves to be right with you or sit on your lap but isn’t really a lapdog. He’s more fun and active and ready for adventures. After he gets his energy out he is much more relaxed. Kallen so far has not shown any food, toy or treat aggression toward people or other dogs. He currently eats in his crate. He’s very treat motivated and takes treats gently. He was a good boy at the vet. He does very well with strangers and seems to be happy wherever he is and whoever he is with. If you are looking for a fun, loving and happy smaller guy then he may be the one! He has a great personality and a love of life. Vet and home checks required Located in Hampton VA. Meet Hatfield !! This tiny sweetheart and his brother, McCoy (posted separately) were left in the shelter by their owner. They weren't in the best shape and were both very shy and scared. They are both really coming out of their shells and enjoying life now!! ***They will need to go to SEPARATE HOMES*** Hatfield is an approx 1 year old male mix breed. He kinda looks like a pug, a chi and a jack russell mixed together, but we have no idea what all is mixed in. He weighs 9 pounds and is full grown. He will be neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped as part of his adoption. He is thankfully heartworm negative. This poor guy was so scared and shut down at the shelter. He was understandably terrified. When we brought him into a foster home he finally relaxed. He does take just a little time to adjust to new people to make sure that they are safe but after that, he is your best friend. He quickly chose the 12 year old boy in the home as his ride or die bestie. He will disregard everything and everyone to go hang out in his room and just adores him. Hatfield is doing fairly well with his house manners so far. He is great about going in his crate and not being vocal. He is not super familiar with the leash yet. He’s not terrible, but he gets a little unsure sometimes. We think with just a little more practice he’s going to figure it out quickly. He does fine on car rides and does not get sick. He is decent about potty training if you take him out often, he does still have accidents. He does mark his territory indoors and wears a belly band to help with that. His upcoming neuter will hopefully resolve that issue. He does well with other dogs but is very nervous about new dogs at first. He has been around all sizes of dogs since coming into the rescue from tiny to giant. He is initially intimidated but gets past it after a few days. He would do best with a dog that isn't super hyper or in his face. His previous family indicated he lived with cats in their home and was fine with them but we have not had him around any to verify that. Hartfield has done very well around all the kids he’s met so far. He really seems to love kids. He would just need to be with kids that are respectful and don’t treat him like a toy. A kid that can be calm and give him space to feel safe first is required but after that he becomes excellent with children. He has a lower energy level so far, but he is steadily becoming more playful as he gets more settled and comfortable. He’s already starting to open up and play at times and has little frisky moments. He loves to chase a thrown ball and will dance around with you when you get him excited. His energy needs are not at all hard to meet currently. He is mostly relaxed and happy to have a place near you to hang out. Hatfield has shown no issues sharing treats, toys or food with other people. He loves to cuddle in bed and on the couch. He always has lots of kisses to give. Very good about being left out in the house when you are gone; he has not been destructive at all. Overall this little guy is a great companion. He is learning the world is not so scary and starting to really enjoy himself. He would fit in to a lot of different home settings as long as someone is willing to give him some time to feel safe. PLEASE READ THE POST Meet Grapefruit !! This sweet girl is trying so hard to embrace her new life!! She’s been through a lot but still wants to love. She is one of the now 23 dogs we have taken in from a horrible hoarding situation. She survived being in a feces covered home during freezing temps with no heat, no water, and no electricity for a very long time. These poor dogs didn’t even know what a ceiling fan or TV were. She’s made a lot of progress so far and is overcoming her fears. Grapefruit is approx. 4 years old. She is a Chihuahua mix best guess. She weighs 12 Pounds and is full grown. She will be spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped as part of her adoption. She is heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. She takes some time to trust you but then she is a clingy Velcro dog. She gets upset when you leave her and thinks she should get to hang out with you 24/7. She is learning to give people space but if you want a dog that is glued to you then she is the one. Grapefruit becomes comfortable with women faster than men. She will bark and run from men for a while and then she accepts them. It’s a slow process of building trust with a dog that’s been neglected like this. Things like noises outside and the TV can scare her still. She has done well with other dogs after she sees they are safe. She is not fostered with cats so we do not know how she will do but we suspect she would do fine. She’s seen indoor bunnies at her foster home and doesn’t seem to have a high prey drive at all. She is not fostered with kids but we think she would do well with calmer older kids. She will need kids and adults in the home to be willing to give her space and time to adjust to them and feel safe. As with any dog she would need any children in the house to be respectful and not treat her like a toy. Grapefruit had clearly never been on a leash before and was terrified of it at first. She has gotten so much better about it. She walks very well without pulling. She still gets scared of things at times that can make her try to run away so a secure harness or collar is needed. She has done very well on car rides and does not get sick. She hates being away from her people and really struggled with crate training at first. With consistency and firm verbal corrections she has really started to accept it now. She will sometimes bark when put in but then will stop within a few mins and go to sleep. She came from a place where they were trapped inside and had no options for going potty anywhere else. It is taking time to correct that learned behavior but she is starting to figure it out. She does best at going potty outside when there are not as many scary sounds. Things like lawnmowers, trucks etc. can startle her and she won’t go potty. Early morning and late evening when it’s quiet she is doing so well at going outside. The more she builds her confidence outside the more we see her potty out there. She is slowly figuring things out but her new owner will just need to be patient and understanding given her history. Grapefruit had to fight for limited food in her last home and due to this she is allowed to eat separately here. Dogs coming from horrific situations like this may have lasting issues sharing food with other dogs. She is fine with people around her food. She may end up able to eat around other dogs but she may not. It is easy enough to feed her in her crate to allow her to feel safe and secure after what she has been through. She takes treats very gently from people and has not shown us she will be aggressive over food but she does eat very fast. She has a low energy level so far. We do expect when she is more comfortable that her energy level will increase. She seems like she will turn out to be a very fun dog once all the fear is gone. Grapefruit has a lot of potential and we expect her to turn in to an excellent companion. If you are willing to help her learn the rest of her training and give her some time to trust you then you will end up with a great addition to your family. ***Do not apply to adopt one of these hoarding case dogs if you’re not serious about giving them time to adjust. It’s absolutely unfair to expect them to adjust in a day or two. We’ve had 3 adopted and returned within 24 hours of adoption for not being immediately settled and perfect in a completely new place. All returned for things we explained upfront about them. It’s completely unreasonable and unrealistic to expect that from dogs that have been through what they have. The last thing they need is to be shuffled around due to adopters not listening or being serious about their needs*** Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. Introducing my little buddy Bruno ☺️ Bruno has been with me and my family since he was a puppy and really is the sweetest 6lb little guy.. I never thought in a million years that I would even have to consider giving him up for adoption but I recently have went through a divorce after 20 years and have had to work a lot more to make ends meet. On top of that pretty soon with my career I will be on a boat 6 months out of the year and ultimately just want the best for my baby. Bruno is very low maintenance and thrives well off of treats and cuddles. He housebroken but also knows how to use pee pads. because of his age and size he would do best in a home with no small children, or other large breed dogs..although he's not afraid of them they could accidentally hurt him. Ideally because my baby is enjoying his golden years a fenced in backyard would put the cherry on top. If you work from home he will be by your side all day. Ideally I would like to maintain contact with his new family ❤️

Introducing my baby BRUNO ☺️ Bruno has been apart of my family since a he was a puppy for almost 9 years now. I never thought in a million years I would even have to consider giving him up for adoption 😔 but after a recent divorce of 20 years I'm having to work a lot more, and will soon be shipping out to sea for 6 months out of the year, and feel as though its only fair to him. Bruno is a super sweet low maintenance little guy and thrives off of cuddles and treats. Although tough and protective..lol.., Because of his age and size (6lbs 9years old) I feel he would do best in a household with no small children or larger breeds (unless they are also a little older/calmer) just to prevent Bruno from being hurt unintentionally. He is housebroken and also can use pee pads.If you have a fenced in backyard that would be the cherry on top. He loves being outside. And I'll go ahead and let u know.. wherever you go.. he will be right behind you. As we know chis are very loyal. Feel free to ask

His name is Finn, he has been with us his whole life, 7.5 years, he is a house dog but we let him out in the backyard to play with him or by hisself for hours at a time, then brought back into the house. We have an open cage, no crate style so he has adequate room to play. We are only trying to part ways because my daughter is 18 and will be attending college soon and me and her mother have divorced and I will be moving into an apartment on November 1st. He does require attention and we hope to place him in a loving home where he can continue to get a lot of attention.
