Story
Take a good look at Bailey's sweet face. And then realize that, if not for our amazing vet team, this sweet boy would have been euthanized - at the request of his previous owner. This sweet 9-year-old boy was with his family since he was a puppy. And then two years ago came a baby in the family and a new dog, one who was at least 3 times the size of Bailey. When disagreements occurred between the two dogs, Bailey was always on the losing end.The most recent attack left the owner believing that euthanizing Bailey was the only solution. And it was most definitely not.Not going to lie - some of us are obsessed with him. Not sure if it's because, as he drapes himself in your lap, you look at him and realize he might not have been here. Or maybe because as he hops around your lap, he has this soft tweeting noise he makes. It melts your heart - because he is so full of life.He has relaxed so much in the days since he has been with us. He is warming up to people much faster. We want a home for him with no very young children - it's the least we can do for his last, most fabulous, years.Come meet this treasure of a boy - he will melt your heart in an instant. You will be as thankful as we are that he is still alive.Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton VA. Open daily 9am to noon.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Meet Dakota! She came to us when her owner passed away and the family could not keep her. She is a 4-year-old, spayed Chihuahua mix that weighs 16lbs. Dakota does well with cats (especially kittens) and dogs; we have not tested her with children. This is what her foster has to say about her: Dakota is the best cuddler. She has been through a lot in her short life and gets nervous when things change. She is playful, she likes playing with dogs but kittens are her favorite! She does not like being crated; she does fine out alone. Whoever adopts her will have a great new little family member! Remember, adopting a dog means committing to them for life. You will also need to give her time to adjust to her new home and its expectations. If you're interested in adopting Dakota, please don't call. Instead, complete an online application on 4 Paws Animal Rescue's website at www.4pawz.org. We carefully review the care history of past and current pets. Our goal is to find the very best homes for all our dogs and cats, so we reserve the right to approve or deny applications based on what's best for the pets. #dogsareworthit #adoptdontshop #chimix #rescueisthebestbreed #lovedogs #dogs #dogsareacommittment

Story
Meet Peanut Peanut is an older fellow (11 years) but pretty spry and full of life! He is a Velcro dog that loves to be with his person, which is pretty much anyone who gives him attention. He is friendly towards strangers. Peanut needs to be fed soft food ( doing well in Science diet sensitive skin and stomach) and he loves small bits of Pupperoni for a treat. He is a homebody who would prefer to walk around in a fenced yard but will walk on leash if needed. He is doing well with re-housebreaking as long as he’s let out every 5 hours or so. Peanut enjoys car rides too! He will sleep in bed with you or out on the sofa. He has not been crate trained as he does fine when free. Peanut does well with cats and other dogs as long as they respect his space. His only negative trait is fear of thunderstorms. He will run off if scared. He trembles and shakes until the storms pass. Overall Peanut will make a great companion! He is smart and engaged. Peanut is vaccinated, HW negative, neutered and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting Peanut our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Meet Chico! Chico is a 6-7 year old little guy who was surrendered to us when his owner could no longer care for him. Chico is a reserved fellow until he decides that he trusts you. He is fairly independent. He wouldn't do well with young children. He is happy sleeping in his favorite bed just knowing you are around. Chico does well with other dogs and cats. Chico does not care for leash walking but can be trained. He tolerates car rides OK. He is doing well with re-housebreaking as long as he’s let out every five hours or so. Chico prefers soft food. He enjoys Pepperoni treats! Chico had a bad habit in his previous home of barking and running after people who are leaving. He has not done this in his foster home. Chico is not crate trained as he behaves well in the home. He has ridden in a crate in the car and goes fine. Chico loves to sleep deep under the bed covers. He will sleep out on the sofa as well. Chico is a quiet fellow and will make an excellent chill companion! Chico is neutered, HW negative, vaccinated and micro-chipped. If you are interested in meeting him our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org. He is located in Williamsburg, Va.

Story
Sweet little Chewy was dumped in the woods and was scared to death. He wouldn't let anyone near him so we had to set a trap and thankfully he went right in! He was of course emaciated, we had no idea how long he had been out there with no food or water but luckily, he was otherwise healthy. Our vet estimated him to be 3-4 years young. Unlike most Chihuahuas, Chewy is wonderful with small children! He is heart worm negative, neutered, fully vaccinated, crate trained and microchipped. We also had his teeth cleaned and polished. Chewy is patiently awaiting his forever home, could that be you? Chewy is ready for immediate transport. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $500
