Story
Firefly’s world is dark. She cannot see.And yet, she radiates a light that reminds you to hope - a gentle glow you follow back to joy.Firefly is an 11-year-old Chihuahua who moves through life with quiet confidence and grace. According to our veterinarian, she has likely been blind for quite some time. You’d never know it watching her. She learns her way around quickly. She remembers where things are. She listens closely. “Up” means she’s about to be picked up. “Touch” means cuddles - and that word makes her tiny tail whirl like a helicopter. She loves to explore. She loves walking in the grass, sniffing the new sniffs, figuring things out for herself. She loves a good meal and a warm lap at the end of the day. She doesn’t complain. If she gets stuck in a corner, she makes the faintest mumble-grumble, then patiently works her way out. When she does, she pauses for a moment, looking quietly pleased, as if to say, "I’ve got this."Firefly was found walking down the middle of a road. A Good Samaritan brought her to safety. Her microchip told part of the story: her original owner had passed away, and she had been rehomed. How she ended up alone and in such rough shape, blind and toothless, we may never know. What we do know is that she was loved for most of her life. And she knows how to love back. And she knows how to eat. After “touch,” her favorite word is “yummies.” Firefly has a healthy appetite and a deep appreciation for comfort.Firefly adores other friendly pets, both dogs and cats. She thrives with gentle people who let her explore the world at her own pace, then welcome her back with soft hands and warm snuggles.Firefly doesn’t need much. But she gives everything. She glows. If you’re looking to start the New Year with something bright, steady, and quietly extraordinary, Firefly is ready to light your way.Firefly is IN FOSTER.To meet her, please call 757-865-0511 or email contact@animalaidsociety.orgInterested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Story
Mr. Fluff is a delicate little one-year-old, Deerhead mix Chihuahua weighing just 8 pounds, and who is searching for a calm, nurturing home where patience and love come first. While he is undeniably beautiful on the outside, his heart is still healing from a difficult beginning. Mr. Fluff came from a home that just could not take care of him. After one month in foster care, he has made truly remarkable progress and continues to blossom every day. In his foster home, Princess Fluff has learned that laps are safe, cuddles are wonderful, and gentle voices bring comfort. he seeks affection and enjoys being close to his people once he feels secure. Inside the home he is relaxed, playful in his own quiet way, and his sweet personality is beginning to shine through. he is still building confidence outdoors and leash walks in a fenced yard will prove to be a big confidence booster for him. Mr. Fluff would thrive in a home where his people can continue this positive exposure at his pace. Car rides and neighborhood strolls are goals we know he will enjoy as he gains confidence. Mr. Fluff would do best in a peaceful home with plenty of time and attention devoted to him. he may do well with one other calm, confident dog, but he truly wants to be someone’s special boy. Children in the home should be over the age of 10 and able to respect his gentle nature. he is crate trained and making steady progress with house training. We are being honest in saying that Mr. Fluff still has some shyness to overcome — but he is absolutely worth the patience and love it takes to help him fully bloom. If you believe you could be the safe place he’s been waiting for, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.  January 12, 2026, 9:04 pm

Story
GiGi – Small in Size, Big on Love GiGi is a precious little Chiweenie girl who is about 3 years old and weighs just around 6.4 pounds. Like her sister Mimi, GiGi’s life changed suddenly when the only home she had ever known fell apart. Through no fault of her own, she and Mimi were surrendered when their owner realized she could no longer provide the stability they deserved. The girls were turned into a small-town shelter, and thankfully Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in and brought them to safety. GiGi is still adjusting to all the changes, but even in the midst of uncertainty, her gentle and affectionate personality is easy to see. GiGi is a friendly, sweet-natured little girl who enjoys being close to her people. She has a slightly more curious side than Mimi and seems eager to understand her new surroundings. She does well with other dogs and has lived peacefully with cats, making her an easy fit for many different home environments. We believe GiGi is either already housebroken or would quickly adapt with a consistent routine or pee pad. She is crate trained, though like many small dogs, she would likely be just as content relaxing on a comfy dog bed in a safe, quiet space when her family is away. GiGi has a soft, loving heart and is simply looking for another chance to belong. She doesn’t ask for much — just patience, kindness, and a family who will love her for the rest of her life. In return, she promises loyalty, affection, and the kind of companionship that makes every day better. If you feel GiGi could be the little friend you’ve been waiting for, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJanuary 17, 2026, 10:46 am

Story
This special little one year old chihuahua is called Magic Maude.  And especially sensitive little girl, that somehow got just a little too round and is on a dedicated exercise in nutrition program to drop some weight.  Currently, she is eighteen pounds and we field that she would be best to be in the ten to twelve pound range as a goal.  She originally was in a chaotic home that animal control had to step in and take away 112 chihuahuas that we're living in the home.  An unfathomable amount of dogs that were not altered, but yet healthy.  When mod came to our rescue and was put in a foster home. She lay there in her crate for days very depressed and emotionally unresponsive.  She barely moved from the one spot she lay in.   Eventually, after almost two weeks, she perked up with the company of few other chihuahuas coming to join her in her large crate.  Soon she was going on walks with the foster. Mom and seemed to enjoy the freedom of being outside, taking in all the new sights and sounds of the neighborhood.  We know she had never been leash walked due to the overcrowding at her original home.  This girl is spayed and healthy and ready to start all over again. She wants love and we promised her a great family who will love her and take her for walks and treat her like the Magic Maude that she is.  She is currently in Nashville, Tennessee, and can be transported to the northeast region as well. Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue  at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  if you want to adopt or know more.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 7, 2025, 6:32 pm
