Story
Are you looking for a cozy cuddly older but not yet ready for full retirement pup? Oscar would love to be your new new best friend. He is great with kids and just loves being next to his human or curled up on the couch. He will walk on a leash and follow you around where ever you go. He is ok in the car and loves meeting strangers. Oscar is still working on house training but with the help of belly wraps he does really well and goes outside anytime he is let out. Oscar came to rescue because his family had to leave their home and they had too many dogs to bring into the new apartment. It was a very hard decision for his mom to let him go and is grateful that the rescue will help find him the best second act home. All who meet Oscar love him and vise versa! Apply today! ST 4.13.26

Story
Hi! I’m Kyser! I’m a 10 year old chiweenie minpin mix! I get nervous but once I get to know you I’m stuck like glue! I LOVE to love. I’m huge on cuddling, following my person around and cuddling under the covers (I think most call it being a Velcro dog?) I would love to have an owner that is home the majority of the day! While I do well with kids smaller little ones can make me a little nervous, I don’t really like my legs, paws, or belly messed with and sometimes they aren’t really respectful. I’m great with other dogs, but I think rowdy ones are rude and would likely do best in a home with calmer dogs. I don’t care about cats (unless they try and lay on me).

These pups are in Bloomington, Indiana too!

Story
Lola is a Courtesy Listing and is not housed at the Animal Shelter. Please note that the City of Bloomington Animal Care & Control accepts no responsibility for this pet. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating directly with the pet's guardian. Meet Lola! She is an 18lb. Chihuahua, Jack Russell Terrier, and Daschund mix (to our knowledge). She is one year old so she is likely fully grown size-wise but still an adolescent behavior wise! We adopted her in February and I now have to re-home her for (my own) medical reasons and because she is incompatible with our cat. This is a difficult decision to make, and she deserves an amazing, loving, forever home where she can thrive, feel safe and secure, and she will give you back the love 10x over. Lola is spunky and fun! She can be anxious when meeting new people, but once she warms up she is very loving and will play and snuggle. Patience is key. She will “boop” you with her nose as a sign of affection. She is house trained, does well in her crate (it is her safe space) and knows how to use our dog door. It took her a little while to figure it out. Currently she sleeps in her crate (about 9-10 hours at night usually between 10:00- 7:00 or 8:00; this could be adjusted to family routine), and she has an afternoon nap there as well (not more than 2 hours). She also has a separate dog bed that she likes to hang out on. She loves to play and she is a dog that needs mental and physical stimulation (lots of time to sniff on a walk), but she can also chill out when needs are met. We have been working on basic commands. She should be rewarded when she does the right thing; only positive reinforcement if possible please. She could highly benefit from more structured formal training, after she is settled in and gets acclimated (give it at least 3-4 weeks). She loves her nylon bones, puzzle toys, her favorite are Yak cheese chews, Kongs, tug toys and soft toys (but she will quickly destroy these)! She is big chewer. She has a little basket of toys she likes to choose from. She enjoys her Greenie at night. Lola makes dog friends easily (she has been mostly around smaller breeds) and she does great on visits to the dog park. She has also done very well at the Dog House daycare. She gets along well with our 10 ½ yr. old Chihuahua. I have never seen her get aggressive towards another dog but she will bark when on a leash. She is very protective toward her people. She enjoys walks and is a dog who should have two walks a day, at least 50-60 min of exercise. She does not like being walked in the dark. A fenced yard would be very ideal; she goes in and out a lot. Because she is an active pooch she would be a great hiking companion! Lola should be in a home without cats She has a very strong prey drive. She will chase small animals on and off a leash. She would also likely do best in a home without young children as she seems quite nervous and wary and around them. Likely 12 and up would be fine. Lola is fully vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. She is currently on Simparica Trio for flea, tick and heartworm prevention. She has “Spot” pet insurance; it’s about $25/month. It’s transferable. We have a crate w/pad, a separate bed, some toys, a leash, a harness, some weather protective clothing, food and treats to send with her. If you think you can provide her with what she needs to be successful, please reach out! I need to find the best possible fit for her. Asking a rehoming fee of $80.00.
