- Loves sleeping in bet with her foster family - Foster family says she is good at using puppy pads in their home, but will need to work on potty training with her new family - Came from a situation where they did not get the socialization and exposure to the world that dogs typically get from a young age. Because of this, they may struggle with new situations, may show uncertainty with novel everyday objects, may need help understanding leashes, and will need patience and structure with housetraining. - May not do well in a busy home with young children - Has done well with other dogs in her foster home - Would do best in a home with no cats All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. Story
Hi, I'm Nora! I'm an 8 year old girl that is special needs. I have diabetes insipidus which you can read more about online but basically it is not treated with insulin. Currently I am on a medication for it twice daily and it seems to be helping. I'm a sweet girl but not a fan of other animals so I'm looking to be your one and only. What do you say? Take a senior girly home and love me forever.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2620129##
