Story
Meet Lilly — A Tiny Heart Looking for Her Safe Person Born: January 8, 2023 Breed: Chiweenie Sex: Female Personality: Incredibly sweet • Sensitive • Shy • Devoted Lilly may be little, but she has an enormous heart. She is quite possibly **one of the sweetest dogs you could ever meet**. Once Lilly trusts you, she loves deeply and wants nothing more than to be close to her person. But there is something important her future family needs to understand: **Lilly is scared. Really scared.** New people, unfamiliar places, sudden movement, noise, and changes in her surroundings can overwhelm her. Her first instinct is not aggression—it is to **run, hide, and make herself disappear until she feels safe**. That means Lilly does not need someone who expects her to become their best friend in five minutes. She needs someone patient enough to let **her decide when five minutes becomes five days—or five weeks.** And when she finally comes to you on her own? That trust will mean everything. Lilly would do best in a **quiet, predictable home** with adults or calm older children who understand that frightened dogs cannot be rushed. A securely fenced yard and careful handling around doors would be especially important because a frightened little dog can bolt before anyone realizes what happened. She doesn't need somebody to “fix” her.

Story
This handsome hunk of a peanut is Frijol! He came into rescue with his sister Arroz (their names mean beans and rice!) when their family was going through a major hardship and was unable to continue caring for them. They came into the pound and were so scared, and the volunteers hearts just broke for them. Thankfully a wonderful couple who volunteers agreed to foster these two adorable little darlings until they find forever homes! Frijol is an incredible little guy who is 3 years old and weighs 14 lbs. He’s thicker like a doxie, and is just absolutely adorable! He’s been to the vets and had everything done! Hes now current on vaccines, deworming, preventative, and heartworm tested negative. He has also been microchipped and neutered! This guy is healthy and happy, and ready to start his next beautiful chapter in life! Frijol is white a ham. He is an avid snuggler and has fantastic house manners. When he came into foster care he was so scared, mourning the loss of his family and going thru so many transitions. He kept to himself for the first day and shortly began to really blossom. He’s a playful sweet little man who truly just longs to be someone’s devoted companion and snuggle buddy. He is excellent going potty outside and reliably will go on either pee pads or out in the yard. He enjoys his playtime with toys and loves his treats, but has an overall easy going activity level. He’s happy to take walks and go for car rides, he likes his toys, and gets excited about fun new things. That said, he is also happy to lay by your side snuggled up while you do work, read a book or watch a movie. His dream is to find a forever home that is easy going where he will be able to snuggle up on the sofa and in bed with his parents, and soak up lots of love! He’s living with other pups now but will do just fine as an only pup, he is also excellent with cats! Just looking for a warm, soft, peaceful, loving, happy home to call his own. If this darling little muppet has caught your eye and you’d love to rescue him and give him the life of his dreams, please visit www.greatdivideanimalrescue.org/applicationdogs and submit an application for adoption today!!! **NOTE** to ensure prompt response- please go directly to our website (www.greatdivideanimalrescue.org) to apply, or email (inquiries.rescuematch@aol.com) directly with any questions to ensure your inquiry/application is received by our organization. Welcome Bonnie to CCPAL Rescue. Bonnie is a 4.5 pound Chiweenie. That is Dashchund/Chihuahua. She is 10 weeks old. She has a beautiful fade coloration from tan to black. She has a little longer body and one down and one sideways ear. She is good in a crate, likes to be held. She is learning the wee pad and gets toys and treats from our adopters. She will get grooming and nail trims at the rescue so she will be fine with that. She would be a great dog for a lover of this breed. A smaller yard would be fine. Dashchund and Chihuahua are typically vocal but if you raise as a puppy and correct her by saying “no” this should help as an adult. She would be fine in a doggy daycare as she is very social. People who have had this breed love it for the loyalty to their human. She is getting spayed and all her vaccinations at the Rescue. She is ready for her forever home. She would be best in a home with someone that doesn’t work all day every day, as she will need to finish up her puppy training. She would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older. She is currently in the CCPAL Rescue in Texas. She can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200 to move her to another state. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1869 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpalrescue.org See her cute video!

Story
Welcome Clover to CCPAL Rescue. Clover is a 4.5-pound Chiweenie. She happens to look more Dashchund than Chihuahua. That is Dashchund/Chihuahua. She is 10 weeks old. She has a fawn coat that is a little longer than the typical short coat. She has a little longer body and both ears hang long and low. Right now, I would say she is very sweet and very cuddly. People who have had this breed love it for the loyalty to their human. She is getting spayed and all her vaccinations at the Rescue. She is ready for her forever home. She would be best in a home with someone that doesn’t work all day everyday as she will need to finish up her puppy training. She would also be fine with children. We like them to be 8 or older due to her small size and trusting nature. A house with less stairs and less split levels would be best for her. She is currently in the CCPAL Rescue in Texas. She can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is $600 and transport is $200 to move her to another state. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
Welcome Maverick to CCPAL Foster Program. Maverick is a 4-year-old Chiweenie. He weighs about 19 pounds. He is good on a leash, good in a car. He is potty trained and very loyal to his person. He knows “go for a walk”, “stop”, “leave it”, “It’s the neighbor” and a few other commands. He is in a home and the owner is having some very big financial issues and need to find Maverick a new home. Maverick has some allergies to food and the food that he can is a Duck and Potato kibble. He has some allergies to grass. He has take Apoquel successfully to handle the allergies. He warms up slowly and is very loyal and bonded once he has bonded. He would be great for a senior couple or single wanting a companion. A nice yard for him to get exercise in would be nice or someone that could have the time to take him on a couple of walks would be great. He isn’t the social butterfly that some dogs are so a matching owner would be the best fit. He would be a great dog to alert you to someone at the door or something being off in the environment. He is good on walks and would help a senior be more active. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. He could go with children but we would like them to be teens. I think a quieter home would be best for this boy. His adoption fee is $400 and transport is $200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.
