Story
Anndalina **** Anndalina is part of our TLC program. Our TLC club members receive special follow-up help when adopted into their new home including visits with a professional behaviorist. Speak to our volunteers about more information regarding our TLC members.**** 10 YEARS OLD. Chi mix. black with white, no kids, no cats, okay with some dogs, basics of potty training. Needs fenced in yard and no apartments. Anndalina came to us as an emergency surrender. This poor girl was trying to chew her tail off and needed emergency treatment. We rushed her into our vet and it was determined her tail would need to be amputated to prevent any infection from spreading. We whisked her into surgery and brought her back to one of our foster homes. Anndalina has had a rough beginning to her life and she will need a patient and understanding home to help her become the dog we know she can be. We would recommend she go to a child free home and a home where her Chihuahua bark will not be a problem. A nice quiet couple or single person would be the ideal place for her as she can become overwhelmed with too many visitors. Once she bonds to her people she is very affectionate but it will take a while for this nervous girl to settle into any new home and she will need to be given time to calm and adjust. Please note we do not have a central kennel facility, all of our pets are located in foster homes. The first step in meeting one of our furry friends is to fill out an application on our website at <a href=''www.rainbowrescues.org''>www.rainbowrescues.org</a>. A volunteer will be in contact with you in 1-2 business days to review your application and speak with you about the adoption process. **Please be aware that we are not responsible for inaccurate information on some cross-posted sites such as inaccurate adoption fees and inaccurate pet info.**November 29, 2023, 5:23 am

Story
Meet Toby! Toby is an eight-year-old Chihuahua and Mini Pin mix who weighs 10 pounds. If you are looking for a shadow who will do the best happy dance when you come home, Toby is your guy... If you are willing to let him warm up to you at his own pace and use positive training methods with him. He is pretty sensitive and fearful of new situations. Toby is a curious little guy who thoroughly sniffed out his new foster Mom's home. :-) He is wary of humans and dogs and needs time to warm up to you and other animals. Toby has taken quite well to his foster parents and especially loves his foster dad. In less than a week he started to play and wiggle his bum when he saw the adults. Toby will snuggle tons but he needs time and patience before he will let you pick him up. He is especially not fond of it if there are other dogs around or something he is wary of, like the stairs. We are practicing saying "UP" when we pick up so he gets used to the cue and knows why we are reaching for him. A month in and when he wants to get up he walks towards you but when you reach out he moves back, lol. He will do this a few times all the while whining that he isn’t being picked up! Toby will only crate when you aren't in the room, so he snuggles with his foster Dad in bed overnights. He does well in the crate when he is left home alone. Toby is potty trained and has only had accidents when foster Mom is hyper focusing on work and misses a potty break. He did some marking when he first arrived but that stopped after he got settled. Toby is a playful and loving guy! He adores his foster Dad especially but will hang out with, kiss, and play with his foster Mom too. He wants to be with his human all the time. If there is a bed on the floor he is happy to be there, but if another dog is in the room he prefers your lap. Toby has shown food resource guarding. He will bite/nip when guarding and will need an adopter willing to use positive reinforcement to work through this. - UPDATE: It has been a month since Toby came to his foster home on 10/10. He is no longer fearful of us, the dogs, or guarding with the adults. Toby does not play with the other dogs in foster who are all bigger than him. He does warm up after about a month or so and tolerates them all around him. He will even attempt to mount them sometimes but he doesn’t want them attempting any play with him as of yet. . . . If you are interested in finding out more about Toby, please fill out an application on our website by copying and pasting the following link into your browser: http://bit.ly/2JnZqK5 Toby is being fostered in Clinton and the adoption fee is $350. NOTE: Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. We expect that all adopted dogs will enroll in a formal dog training class with their new owners. Obedience and training classes are an excellent way to learn more about your newly adopted dog, gain handling and training experience, and improve your relationship with your pet. Story
Nessie is a very sweet girl. She loves to go for walks and enjoys soaking up the sun during nice weather. Nessie is looking for a quiet home where she can be the center of attention. We have learned that this chihuahua would prefer to live with a woman, and does not care for men. Nessie loves who she loves, and does not care for new people reaching for, or trying to pet her. Nessie does bond strongly with her person, and is a wonderful companion for the right home. Nessie enjoys moving at a slow pace and meeting people that understand it takes time to get to know each other. An adult home only will be best for this little sweetheart. If you are viewing this dog's profile on Adopt-a-Pet and are interested in adopting, please head to our official website at www.worcesterarl.org to fill out a Dog Adoption Inquiry Form, which will be located under the dog's profile. All adoptions are by appointment, thank you.

Story
This sweet little pup is sure to light up your life with love and joy! Rufus is a 1-year-old chihuahua mix with a beautiful tan and white coat, including cute little white socks, and big, soulful puppy dog eyes. At just 16 lbs., he is a small pup. But do not let his size deceive you; he has a big, beautiful personality!Rufus loves people and would be a great lap dog. He loves attention and scratches! With his medium energy levels, he would enjoy both couch cuddles and playtime. Rufus also enjoys playing with his pup friends and gets along with kids too. However, he has not yet had a chance to meet a cat. Rufus was rescued from a hoarding situation along with several other pups. He is so happy to have this opportunity at a new life with a loving family! Because of his past, he has a shy demeanor but is working on coming out of his shell. Time and patience will be the key to building his confidence. Rufus is working hard on all of his training, including his house, crate, and leash training. He cannot wait to show you his progress and willingness to learn new skills. The perfect family for Rufus will welcome him with open arms and will patiently commit the time required to ensure he gets proper training, lots of socialization, plenty of play and exercise, and all of the love! Story
A shy sweet little boy looking for his forever home and family, Jack2 is a 6 month-old Chihuahua mix who came into our Southern shelter partner looking for the family ready to give him tender loving care.Jack2 is a little lad at 6 pounds and is estimated to remain a small dog (10-30 pounds) when he is full grown. He lacked early socialization so he is a bit shy, but is making progress with other dogs, including his siblings Takka and Jose. He is comfortable with children and will make a great little companion for families and homes of all sizes. It is not known if he is comfortable around cats. Jack2 is working on his house, leash and crate training. Puppies and rescue dogs have accidents as they adapt to a new home so regular potty breaks with positive reinforcement are necessary. Jack2 is a pup with soft growing bone plates, so he only needs short walks and a bit of gentle play with plenty of rest as he continues to grow. Jack2 longs for loving hearts, a warm lap and plenty of careful socializing so he can bestow his heart and soul on his forever family. The adoption fee for Jack2 is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees.
