Daisy has spent some time in foster care recovering after her spay, and now that she’s feeling great and ready for adoption! According to her foster mom, Daisy is an absolute love bug who will happily give her whole heart to “her person.” This affectionate girl will do just about anything to sit on your lap and cuddle. She loves being as close to her people as possible—don’t be surprised if she climbs up just to get near your face and give you a few sweet kisses! Daisy enjoys following her person around the house, but once she knows where you are, she’s happy to settle into a cozy spot nearby. One of Daisy’s cutest habits is her love for blankets. Any blanket is fair game! She adores burrowing underneath them and seems to need one to feel fully comfortable when it’s time for a nap. A soft blanket and a comfy couch are basically her dream setup. Daisy is a bit of a couch potato at heart. She enjoyed short walks down the sidewalk in foster for a little exercise and enrichment, but her favorite activity is definitely relaxing on the couch with her favorite human. She has been doing great with pee pad training and consistently uses her designated pads. She will also go to the bathroom outside while on leash. Daisy loves her people so much that she can be a little protective of them, especially if she’s sitting on your lap, and may bark to let others know you’re “taken.” Because of this, we recommend a home with older kids or teens rather than young children. If there are resident dogs in the home, we ask that they come to the shelter to meet Daisy to make sure everyone is a good match. If you’re looking for a devoted little companion who loves cuddles, cozy blankets, and being your shadow, Daisy might just be the perfect dog for you Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Meet Yam Yam! Yam Yam is a 9 week old male Chi/Terrier X. Mom is a small 18 lbs so we estimate him to be between 18-25lbs full grown. Mom and her puppies were taken from a hoarding situation down in Texas. We took them in when the pups were just 4 weeks old and have helped raise and care for them. Yam Yam is our perfect spunky lil Chi Chi boy. We can’t get enough of his tiny hops and fun personality. He is fostered with other dogs and kids and is greatly socialized. Yam Yam will be on schedule for puppy vaccinations and dewormed, but is not yet neutered. That will be your responsibility as the adopter to do so once he reaches the appropriate age. He is just a baby and will need continued crate, potty and basic obedience training upon adoption. Adoption fee is $600.
