Story
Despite being mistreated by humans before coming into our care, Cheese is a loving, energetic, spunky 2-year-old who has two missions in life: find food and eat food! Cheese has been friendly with everyone he has met in his foster home, although he can be a little timid when first meeting men. He hasn’t met any children yet, but we suspect he would do well with older, respectful kids. Cheese has done well with both dogs and cats in his foster home. He does sometimes want to chase the cats, but he listens well when called away and has not shown any aggression toward them. With the dogs in his foster home, Cheese has mostly preferred to coexist rather than play, although that may change as he becomes more comfortable. Because Cheese loves his food, he does resource guard food and treats and will need to be fed separately from other animals in the home. His new family should be prepared to continue working with him on this behavior. Cheese loves going for walks, car rides, and playing with toys. Once he feels comfortable with his humans, he also loves to snuggle and show them just how sweet he can be. We don’t know much about Cheese’s past, but he does experience some general anxiety. He takes medication that has made a wonderful difference, helping him settle down, feel more secure, and enjoy life. Cheese has been through a lot, but he hasn’t let his past take away his loving, goofy spirit. He’s ready for a patient family who will give him the time, structure, and love he needs to continue learning that he is finally safe. Cheese is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, heart worm negative and on heart worm preventative, and microchipped. Cheese’s adoption fee is $400.00
