Story
Rusty Wallace is a 3-year-old dachshund mix.   Rusty is house trained, cat and dog friendly, and enjoys human companions of all ages.  If in a home with children, they need to be older children that understand Rusty's needs noted below.   He loves car rides. He sleeps in bed with his human but will also sleep in a kennel. He loves to burrow so blankets are a must!   Rusty came back into rescue severally overweight.  You can see that in his before and after photo in his bio. He worked hard and is now back to a healthy weight and just needs to maintain.    Rusty requires a home with no steps or minimal steps. He is currently in a home that has mostly single steps and where there are two steps, he has a ramp. He had to have spinal surgery so limited steps are a must. Steps are also needed for him to get on and off the couch and bed.    Rusty has seizures.  At this time he is not on meds but just being monitored.     If you would like more information about Rusty Wallace, we would be happy to answer them.  If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. We are dedicated to finding the best Forever Homes, and will perform home visits and conduct veterinarian and reference checks for each potential adopter. Meet Picadilly, a 5 year old 10 pound Chihuahua Pug mix.  Picadilly is full of life and loves life and all that goes with it.  She’s a happy fun curious little girl.  She’s very loveable and she loves to nuzzle her head under your chin. Picadilly gets along well with the other small dogs in her foster home and sees the cat as just another dog.   She gets the zoomies about once a day and after that you will find her sleeping calmly in her dog bed.  After a long day, she enjoys relaxing next to you or on your lap on the couch. She is just learning to walk on a leash, so a fenced yard is recommended to allow her outside for bathroom breaks. Picadilly does tend to be a barker, especially if she sees a squirrel outside the window, so she would probably not be good for apartment living.  She would also be best in a home with older children who will respect her boundaries.  She’s mostly potty trained if she’s let out often.  She sleeps in the kitchen at night with her foster siblings, but I’m sure she’d rather be in bed with you. She loves her toys and her treats.  She does tend to get a little cranky if she thinks another dog might be wanting her food.  After all she lived in a home with 2 large dogs and 3 other small dogs, so I’m sure they had a little challenge all getting enough to eat.  She’s just waiting for her home and could that be you. Meet J.D.! When J.D. first arrived, he broke our hearts. He would sit quietly at the back of his kennel with his head pressed against the wall, too scared to face the world. With time, patience, and gentle care, J.D. has started to come out of his shell and show us his sweet, spunky personality. Each day, we see a little more of the dog he’s meant to be. J.D. is looking for a home that offers: -A patient, understanding family who will let him grow at his own pace. -Plenty of love and reassurance to help him build confidence. -(Optional) A calm, confident dog friend to show him the ropes. 🐕 J.D. may not be the kind of dog who warms up right away, but once he trusts you, his loyalty and love will be unconditional. He just needs someone willing to give him the chance. 🏡 Their adoption fee is $500, plus an additional $50 that includes six months of heartworm prevention.
