Meet Jesse Gemstone! This 25 lb hunk of love is just a gem of a dog. He is 5 years old, and can only be described as a happy go lucky guy who loves to be loved. He came to us with his two siblings after their owner passed away. Jesse has grown so much since coming into his foster home, and will only continue to gain confidence with his new family. Jesse is potty trained on a good schedule, crate trained and does great on walks and car rides. He gets along with other dogs and played in the small dog play group at the shelter previous to foster life. He has thrived on his staycations in other foster homes away from his siblings, and we know that he would be completely fine in a home as either a second dog or an only dog. As of early December, Jesse is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is handling treatment well. He will need to continue to refrain from heavy exercise in the next couple of weeks - which he doesn’t seem to mind based on his relaxed demeanor! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Meet Judy Gemstone! At 18 lbs, this little lady is the perfect combination of sassy and sweet. She is 6 years old, and while she enjoys playing with the other dogs in her foster home, she spends most of her time laying on the couch, preferably with her people and fur siblings. She came to us with her two brothers after their owner passed away. Judy takes a little extra time to gain trust, but once she does she will love you unconditionally. Judy is potty trained on a good schedule, crate trained, and does great on walks and car rides. She is the perfect passenger princess and is a great size to bring on errands or roadtrips. She also gets along with other dogs and played in the small dog play group at the shelter previous to foster life. While slow to warm up during her staycations away from her siblings, she really just loves companionship and will be successful in a home with humans that love her and a dog sibling to help continue building her confidence. As of early December, Judy is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and is handling treatment well. She will need to continue to refrain from heavy exercise in the next couple of weeks - which she doesn’t seem to mind based on her relaxed demeanor! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

She is very sweet but shy and will need time to warm up. So, if you do not have the patience to give her that time then she is not the dog for you and you will have to look for another. Dogs come into rescue not because they are perfect and you adopt them because you want to make them whole but some take longer than others, is that you? She really needs to have time to know she is safe and relax and she will give you love but she wants it back too. Do not disappoint her, give her what she needs for the rest of her life. Our must haves for Pip are: • A fenced in yard • Another young, small, and well socialized dog • Someone that can be home most of the time or works from home • Please no apartments, condos or high rises Please if you are interested reach out and we will let you know all about the sweet gentle girl looking for love. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other. Please look for dogs on your coast.
