Story
Sophie joined our family as the third of three small breed dogs. She grew up with our now tween and teen children. She prefers to get all of the attention, however, and wants to be sitting or lying on or with her person always. She likes to play with her toys, but usually only briefly. She likes to chase her tail, play with a piece of food before she eats it, and lie in the sun and under the covers. She can be aggressive if she feels threatened and needs someone who can attune to her and help to calm or reassure her. She’s pretty vocal when she sees other dogs or people she doesn’t know. She’s generally a sweetheart, though, who just wants to be held and loved. She is house and crate trained and sometimes announces she’s gone by wiping her paws. Other times she tries to fake you out by wiping before she’s gone. She doesn’t like walks on a leash but does enjoy being outside, especially in the sun until she gets too hot.

Story
Charlie is a 10-year-old large dude who has mastered the art of being a roommate. He’s healthy and active, but his main goal is finding a comfortable spot to hang out. He isn't "slowing down" due to age; he’s just always been a relaxed guy. Personality: Charlie is well-behaved, house-trained, and crate-trained. He has lived with kids and cats without issues. He has a funny "grumpy" streak: if the house gets too loud, he’ll give a single bark to let you know he’s annoyed and walk away to find a quieter room. He isn't aggressive; he just values his peace. Activity & Health: He loves walks (especially in the cold) and short bursts of fetch or tug-of-war. He takes daily joint vitamins; he occasionally overdoes it and limps for a day, but recovers quickly. On walks, he gets very excited when he sees other dogs. He’s a big, strong guy, so he needs a handler comfortable steering an excited dog on a leash. If you want a loyal friend who is past the puppy drama, Charlie is perfect.
