Story
Davi UpdateY’all. This boy is an absolute GEM.Davi is SO loving and has the best little manners. He’s doing great with my other pups and fits right in.He originally came in with Bobby, but I can confidently say he is independent and secure — he’s not relying on a bond here at all. It’s wild how different he is outside of boarding.Yesterday? He looked completely terrified.Last night and today? Head high. Tail wagging. Confident. Just doing his thing. He slept all night curled up on a pillow beside me in my bedAnd when he wants to be picked up? He simply walks up and asks like a polite little king. We’ve even discovered he “talks” — and it is adorable.Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. Pleae complete the adoption (or foster) application here: https://www.russellrescuetn.com/application-for-adoption/You will be contacted if further information is needed. We are 100% volunteer powered. Story
One Week with Si - Si has been with us for one whole week and oh the difference it has made! You still have to approach him slowly cause he gets a little freaked at fast movements, but he wags his tail a little when you talk to him now and he comes to you to pick him up so he can snuggle. Food is his love language. You have food, especially soft food, and you’re his bestie. He’s very much an old soul and just wants to lounge about, so no chasing balls or running laps for him.. lol. If you’re into lazy tv days, he’s your man!Day 4 - Si seems to have found the person he trusts in my 7 year old. He cuddles a lot more now too. Still skittish around people he’s not sure of or doesn’t know, but we’re getting there!Day 3 - Si has gone from wanting nothing to do with anyone to seeking attention from my oldest child and myself. I brought him to work with me today as well and he has also sought out attention from some of my coworkers. He truly is a sweet boy that just wants love and affection, but he is so unsure of everything considering his whole world was upended. He rarely tucks his tail between his legs anymore Day 2 - Si is coming more out of his shell and even gave me some kisses today  he wants so badly to be loved, he’s just anxious. I’m sure he’s going to make someone a great dog! People just need to remember the oldies need love too Day 1 - Si is a very sweet, but very timid boy. He’s kinda had a rude awakening with my loud crew  but I think he will eventually adjust. He’s already started to untuck his tail a bit and he took and nice nap with my daughter and I after a warm bath. I think he would be a great snuggler for someone once he warms up to you and realizes you’re not going to do anything bad to him. I’m hoping over the next few days he’ll come out of his shell more cause he breaks my heart when he’s all scared  he’s staying close to Marshall though and Marshall knows how to hang with the crazies, so I have no doubt si will get the hang of it. After all, the old guys gotta stick together right?  I’ll update more on his personality as I learn more! This is what a dog does when he discovers that his owners no longer want him. Poor Si has shut down. He has slept or pretending to for 3 days. Ever since he was taken to our vet. Now he sits in boarding still pretending to not notice that nice people are trying to help him feel loved again. Finally lifting his head a minute when he hears voice coming to adopt a different dog. When they leave his little head drops back down. Si needs time to recover. It will be hard iwhen he does not have a home to recover in. Please open your home to this poor soul.Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. Story
Aria UpdateAria is officially a professional snuggler. Her favorite things in life? A soft blanket, a warm lap, and being exactly where her people are.If a lap isn’t immediately available, she’ll wait… briefly. Then she will kindly (but firmly) inform you that cuddle time is now in session. She sleeps peacefully in the fluffiest bed in her crate and is doing wonderfully. She loves other dogs — but make no mistake, this petite princess prefers to be the queen bee.Walks with Aria are an adventure: lots of sniffing, quick little power-walk bursts between exploration spots, and taking in the world at her own pace. She is incredibly loving and would make the sweetest, most comforting companion for someone who wants a loyal little shadow. If you’ve been looking for a snuggle partner with a dash of sass and a whole lot of heart… Aria might just be your girl.Aria is a 6 year old, 13 pound chihuahua mix who is sadly coming back to us after the passing of her owner.Available dogs are met by pre-approved adopters ONLY after a match is made. The application is the first step. Please complete the adoption (or foster) application here: https://www.russellrescuetn.com/application-for-adoption/We do not have any paid staff members.
