Story
Meet very handsome Apollo! 6 year old Apollo is a Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix looking for his furever home. He is very energetic and will be his best within an active family with older children. He loves cuddling with his cat friends (or just cuddling in general), going for long walks, and curling up on someone's lap on the couch at the end of the day. He would do best in a home without other dogs since he's pretty much alpha.   He is UTD on shots, HW negative, microchipped, and takes Heartgard monthly.   When you need that special someone to share your day with Apollo/CP is the right guy for you!!!   Please complete our application at: http://www.russellrescuetn.com/application-for-adoption/April 19, 2024, 6:13 am

Story
Hello. My name is Chyanne. I am a seven year oldish male little mix dog. I’m not really sure what kind I am, I’m just cute, I know that. Let me tell you my story. I lived in a single wide trailer with another little dog and my owner that is in her 80’s. She went into the nursing home because she is not able to take care of us or herself. I am generally a happy little guy and I am super smart. Like anyone I have faults. I’m stubborn and sometimes if I’m scared i want to nip sometimes so if you have some patience I’m just perfect for you. I have a little boo boo on my nose. I am learning kennel training and I try to open the door with my nose. It’s getting better. I’m learning my nose won’t open it. I had to learn not using the potty in the house. I have done well with that.  Where I am living right now gets up a 6 am to me ruffing at the door to go out and potty. I think it’s a fair trade! I don’t potty in the house, they get up early! I am super friendly and like other animals of all kinds! I need a forever home. Please give me a chance!Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. Story
Like a challenge? Upsie is an extremely frightened 2yo. Takes time to warm up. Does not lead or want to be picked up but will give kisses from your lap. Great with other dogs. Upsie needs someone to take him into their home and work one on one with him and let him learn to trust. He needs someone who will not expect fast results, but be thrilled with the tiny steps he will make. Upsie has been with one of our experienced fosters for a few weeks after spending too much time in boarding. He is quite the comedian. He likes to roll into your lap to get pets. He also likes to hear how good of a boy he is! Available dogs are met by pre-approved adopters ONLY after a match is made. The application is the first step. Story
Kenji was adopted from the Denver humane society. He was young at the time, maybe about 8 months old. He was timid, shy, and cautious. Initially it took about 1 month for him to settle in, but once he did, he became extremely affectionate. Now he settled in to new people much more quickly. He has been a cherished member of our household and has traveled the whole length of the US, from the Florida Keys, to Seattle, and even NYC. Kenji is about 6-7 years old (we adopted him in 2018). He loved to cuddle under blankets, lying in the hot sun, and taking walks on warm days to watch the squirrels. He is terrified of flies, and anything resembling one. Baby carrots are one of his favorite snacks. Overall, he is a fantastic dog,, and we will miss him greatly.

Story
Sometimes we never know what we will see when we start up our car and leave the safety of our homes and our beloved pets that wait for us to return.  Sometimes what we see on the road is disturbing and downright WRONG.     This pair of Chihuahuas were discovered by one of our faithful rescue fosters as she traveled a back country road that was mostly farmland and very few  houses on the road.  First she say the little white chihuahua in the road and he ran from her and wouldn’t let her catch him.  She tried for a while.  Then she went to the nearest house and talked to a man who was out in his yard about this white Chihuahua.  He told her who owned the land where the dog was seen running and so a few days later she went back determined to ride up and down the road until she could see the dog again.  Well there were TWO little chihuahuas now; white and black and tan.  She found the owners of the land and asked them about the Chis and was told they were dropped off by some unknown person and that they had been up in their barn trying to eat the cow feed. They were abandoned and soon our rescue foster trapped them and brought them home to change their life forever.  We are getting them vetted and neutered and spayed 1/26. WE NEED FOSTER HELP!   The white boy is very shy and the black and tan is a female and the “protector” of her male friend.  Help us give them a short term place to stay while we look for a permanent and forever loving home!  Can you help for a few weeks?  Please contact us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.  They can be fostered in Nashville, TN or even in the New England area.  We transport weekly and just need someone to show them kindness, love and stability.  They will be ever so grateful!   ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Story
Our boy Chachi has no special needs with his health since he is a young one year old 10 pound chihuahua.  But he is special needs in the department of giving him time, patience and unconditional love that will allow him to slowly make his way back to being a normal and less fearful dog.   A place is needed for him to go and rest, be loved and be given the time to find his way to being a more calm, confident dog.  You see he and his momma dog were found in the middle of a nowhere in a small community in rural Tennessee.  They had no food or water for some time before our foster mom saw them and picked them up to carry them home with her.  They had been on the run for a while and no one had tried to catch them.   But our determined friend and foster mom Lecia did all the work and set a humane trap and caught them both and took them to the vet and then home with her to foster.   Chachi is so very handsome and SOOOOO very scared.  Most of all he is very scared of men but tolerates them if they live in the foster home.  We are looking for Chachi to go to a home with another confident small dog.   He is not a biter but a fright and flight if he gets away.  He is almost housebroken and knows how to go outside and then come in and hang.  If you are interested please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  We know there is someone special out there for this handsome, scared soul.     ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Please contact Vivienne (viviennejames@comcast.net) for more information about this pet.Little Lucky is an 11 year old 11 lbs little gentleman who had the unfortunate luck of finding himself in a rural Arkansas shelter.  Not only is he an older gentlemen this poor little guy is blind.  Just imagine how scary that must have been.  He was there for a few days before Miss Sabra was made aware of this plight.  A foster was found in Arkansas and now Lucky is saved from the shelter.  Now he is in Tennessee looking for his forever home.  This little guy is a delight.  He is good with other dogs and he LOVES people.  Lucky gets around just fine once he has figured the house out.  He likes nothing better though than to be in the chair or on the sofa with you.  Actually on you.  He loves to cuddle and is a great little companion.  Lucky is comfortable in a crate and does not mind sleeping in one but he would like to be in the same room with you.  He will also ride in the crate while you do errands as long as it is not too hot or cold.  Lucky does his business as soon as his feet hit the grass and will use a pee pad if you are not home.  To help this great little guy please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net or 615-943-7311.  Thank you for considering helping this little guy!!  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.April 18, 2024, 7:05 pm

Story
Clifford is a very lucky little Chihuahua.  Found in the middle of a small country road in front of a very disturbing trailer that was overrun with animals and a family that didn’t care about any of them.  Clifford was destined to being run over. This darling little guy weighs 9 pounds and is determined to be about 3-4 years and no older despite the grey on his black muzzle.  This boy is cautious when meeting new people but as soon as he is sure of you he is just the most cuddly and loving boy ever.  He is pretty much housebroken, crate trained and he is good with cats and dogs of all sizes.  He is good on a leash and would be such a great fulltime companion if he is given a consist and calm lifestyle and home.  His long little tail was broken at some point in his life and crooked and sort of a funny part of his persona.  It is not painful to him so don’t be concerned.  Clifford would be best in a home with older children and adults of course are fine for his personality.  If you are interested in this boy please write to us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com  We are happy to talk with you about this darling little black nugget of a Chihuahua. Story
Meet Miss Summer.  This extremely sweet little lady had a hard first 6 years as she endured all kinds of filth and neglect living in the home or a hoarder.  She had 20 other dogs to keep her company so she is great with other dogs.  The horrible conditions did not adversely affect Miss Summer too much.  While she is a little shy, she still has the bright and sweet personality her name reflects.  She has experienced so much since going to her foster home and is growing more confident every day.  Since she really has had no life experiences everything is new to her.  She is getting used to riding in the car as she has already been to the vet twice.  Her foster mom is attempting to teach her to walk on a leash.  It is a slow go but as Summer gains confidence she will improve.  This little lady is a little cuddle bug and loves to be with her foster mom.  She does sleep with her as her foster brothers and sister do.  Summer's favorite place is on the back of the couch.  She is quite the athletic one and easily jumps from the floor to the chair to the back of the couch.  She can definitely see what is going on from her perch.  Summer is slowly learning that you do 'your business' outside.  However this is a work in progress and will take a while.  On day 6 she started  'going' outside and also started doing zoomies around the yard.  Summer would be much happier with a fenced in yard to do both of these activities.  She loves her foster brothers and sister and warms up quickly to new people.  You just have to talk softly to her and take your time.  Even when her tail is between her legs it is wagging.  That shows you how sweet she really is.  If you are looking for a precious little lady to add to your family and you have the patience to help a little one in need, then please consider Miss Summer.  You will make a huge difference in her life and you won't be sorry.  Summer is spayed, current on all her shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  She also now has pearly white teeth as she has had a dental.  To be considered for Summer's forever family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Summer is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.) ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. Contact ccrtennessee@gmail.com.April 18, 2024, 7:05 pm
