Story
Dela is an 11 year old chiweenie. I've had her for 9 years. She is a very sweet loving little girl that needs a wonderful home, with someone that can spend the time with her that she deserves. I work a graveyard shift, and she doesn't deserve someone that works all night and sleeps during the day. She is spayed, and house trained, though she does have accidents sometimes. She has recently lost her fur brother so she needs lots of tenderness.

Story
Meet Popcorn A Tiny Dog with a Big PersonalityPopcorn is a 10-pound Chihuahua with a big heart and a soft spot for cats. At first glance, you'll notice how adorable he is – but this little guy is more than just a cute face. Popcorn is looking for a patient, experienced home that understands the unique needs of a senior pup who’s had to figure life out on his own terms.Popcorn has cataracts and limited vision, so he startles easily – especially if he's woken up abruptly. For this reason, he’s not a fit for homes with children or a home that has many visitors and will need a calm, quiet environment where he can feel safe. Once he trusts you (and that might take some time – think weeks or even months), he’ll allow gentle pets and might even sneak in a snuggle on his terms. He’s very food-motivated, which helps with building trust, but he’s also protective of his meals and treats, so he must be fed separately from other pets. Popcorn loves cats and would absolutely thrive in a feline-friendly home. He’s cautious with dogs but can coexist peacefully after a respectful introduction.Popcorn isn’t a social butterfly, but he does fine when visitors come over – as long as they don’t try to engage with him directly. His ideal adopter will be someone who respects his boundaries, moves at his pace, and is okay with earning his love slowly but surely. If you’re a cat-loving human with a quiet home and a heart big enough for a little dog who just needs time and understanding, Popcorn might just be your perfect match.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. Story
Meet Willie – A Gentle, Shy Soul Ready for a Fresh Start Willie is a 6-year-old, 25-pound Chihuahua mix who came to CAWS after losing his beloved person. This sweet boy’s world was turned upside down, but thanks to incredible volunteers, he made the long journey from New Mexico to Utah to begin his next chapter surrounded by love and safety.Understandably, Willie arrived scared and unsure. It took him nearly three weeks to feel secure enough to give his foster mom his first kisses—but now he offers the softest, sweetest kisses imaginable. His gentle nature shines once he trusts you.Willie is fully house-trained and crate-trained, with no accidents or marking. He gets along beautifully with all the dogs in his foster home—big or small, male or female—and moves through daily life quietly and kindly. He isn’t a barker and is easy to have around; sometimes you hardly notice he’s there, except for his soft presence at your feet.He recently had a dental (three teeth removed, several already missing) and had a tough recovery, but he’s now eating well and feeling much better. Willie is currently on metabolic food and is working toward losing about 10 pounds at a slow, healthy pace. Because his bloodwork suggested a possible thyroid issue, he’ll have follow-up testing in a few weeks to determine if medication is needed. His skin is a bit dry, so he receives soothing medicated baths, and his ears are being gently cleaned each day—something he patiently allows.Even with extra weight, Willie moves around surprisingly well, quietly padding up and down 16 stairs several times a day to keep his foster mom company while she works from home.Given his shy and sensitive nature, Willie needs a calm, predictable home without young or rowdy children. He would thrive with adopters who are retired, work from home, or can take him along during the day—he’s had enough loss and loneliness for one lifetime. While he does fine in a crate, we prefer he not spend much time in one going forward. He loves sleeping with his foster family (two- and four-legged alike) but will also settle into a dog bed if needed.Willie is truly a special little soul—quiet, tenderhearted, and overflowing with sweetness. He deserves a home filled with patience, security, and unconditional love for the rest of his many years ahead. If you feel you can offer Willie the safe, loving home he deserves, please fill out an application to meet him. This precious boy is ready to give his heart to someone who will cherish him.Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis; we thoughtfully choose the best fit for each animal. Story
Meet Vida Boheme! Just like her namesake, this queen brings beauty, charm, warmth, and pure love everywhere she goes. Vida is a 15-year-old, 20-lb Dachshund mix with a gentle spirit, a snowy white face, and a devotion to her people that would make Miss Vida herself proud. This Vida’s ideal day includes naps, snacks, couch cuddles, and following her humans from room to room like the loyal little shadow she is. She’s fully house trained, walks politely on leash, and has low energy, grooming, and exercise needs. She doesn’t love the crate, but she’ll settle if she must—though she’d much rather be tucked in beside you for bedtime snuggles. She gets along beautifully with dogs, cats, and respectful children. Because she whines or barks when left alone or separated, she’ll do best in a home without shared walls. What she wants most is what her namesake taught us all to give: love, kindness, and a place where she can simply belong.Health-wise, Vida is on the cusp of developing Cushing’s Disease. She’s not on medication now, but her adopter will need to monitor symptoms and stay on top of vet care. Should treatment become necessary later, it typically runs about $80–90 monthly.Vida’s most special trait is the way she looks at her people—with the same softness, loyalty, and heart that made Vida Boheme unforgettable on screen. She’s a tender, affectionate soul who just wants to love and be loved. If you’re ready to welcome a gentle, devoted senior queen into your home, Vida Boheme is waiting to grace your life with sweetness and style. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process.
