Story
This is Dela. Her owner for the last 9 years is unable to care for her due to her work schedule. I took her in as a foster so she would not be surrendered to the pound. I already have 3 dogs, otherwise I would keep her. She is a sweet 12 year old girl who loves snuggling and treats. She has been so good in the 2 weeks I have had her. No accidents and obeys very well to basic commands. My older corgi barks a lot and she doesn't like loud noises so they have gotten into it a few times. She is content to just snuggle up. She doesn't get zooms but gets very happy and excited when you come home from work. She likes to be near you wherever you go. She does great with my other dogs and her previous owner says she is fine with cats also. Please help me find this sweet girl a forever home. She deserves it.

Story
Meet Vida Boheme! Just like her namesake, this queen brings beauty, charm, warmth, and pure love everywhere she goes. Vida is a 15-year-old, 20-lb Dachshund mix with a gentle spirit, a snowy white face, and a devotion to her people that would make Miss Vida herself proud. This Vida’s ideal day includes naps, snacks, couch cuddles, and following her humans from room to room like the loyal little shadow she is. She’s fully house trained, walks politely on leash, and has low energy, grooming, and exercise needs. She doesn’t love the crate, but she’ll settle if she must—though she’d much rather be tucked in beside you for bedtime snuggles. She gets along with dogs, cats, and respectful children. She has a little bit of resource guarding tendencies and may snap at another dog when they get too close to her treats. Because she whines or barks when left alone or separated, she’ll do best in a home without shared walls. What she wants most is what her namesake taught us all to give: love, kindness, and a place where she can simply belong.Health-wise, Vida is on the cusp of developing Cushing’s Disease. She’s not on medication now, but her adopter will need to monitor symptoms and stay on top of vet care. Should treatment become necessary later, it typically runs about $80–90 monthly.Vida’s most special trait is the way she looks at her people—with the same softness, loyalty, and heart that made Vida Boheme unforgettable on screen. She’s a tender, affectionate soul who just wants to love and be loved. She also loves giving kisses If you’re ready to welcome a gentle, devoted senior queen into your home, Vida Boheme is waiting to grace your life with sweetness and style. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100. Story
Meet Woofgang Puck, or just Puck for short! This lovable 8-year-old Chihuahua mix is a little bundle of joy, possibly with a sprinkle of Beagle in his genes. At first, Puck may come off as shy, but give him a moment, and his playful side will shine like a star! Puck adores his toys and loves to get into some light-hearted trouble—just picture him as the life of the party! He enjoys his naps, but don’t let him miss out on the fun; after all, who wants to snooze through an adventure? He loves being outside, but keep an eye on him—if the yard isn’t secure, he might go on his own mini explorations. And be careful! If a door is left open, he’s ready to dash out! When it comes to other dogs, Puck needs a little help. He has a tendency to “assist” them with their meals, which can be quite annoying. His friendly greetings can be a bit much—he barks, jumps, and wags his tail enthusiastically, which may confuse his canine pals. With some training, he can learn to tone it down. He’s also learning how to handle his protective instincts, but if you have other pets, be prepared to guide him through it. Puck is quite the jumper when he’s excited and might unexpectedly leap onto you, giving playful nips at your legs! He listens when corrected but often forgets the rules once the fun starts again. While he’s crate trained, Puck feels much more comfortable snoozing on a cozy bed rather than being confined to a crate. Sleeping in your bed isn’t something he’s into just yet. The good news is, he’s house trained and will let you know when it’s time to go out. Puck does have a heart murmur and takes medication twice a day for it. He can get a bit anxious, especially when being picked up or during car rides, and sitting on laps isn’t really his scene. This sweet boy is looking for a forever home filled with love, patience, and understanding. With your support, Puck will be ready for short hikes and exciting adventures with his favorite human! Puck has been neutered, is current on vaccines, has tested negative for heartworm and is microchipped. He also had a recent dental and lost a few teeth. If you are interested in adopting Puck, please complete an adoption application on our website. Just go to uaaf.org/adopt. Story
Hi, I’m Nora! I’m a 6-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix with a BIG personality and an even bigger heart. I love to make an entrance—whether I’m zooming down the hallway or running in and out of the house, you’ll hear me coming! My tail is usually wagging, and I’m always excited to see my people. When playtime is over, I’m a total snuggle bug and would be very happy curled up next to you on the couch. I’m loyal to the core and once I choose my person, you’re my person forever. I can be a little sassy (okay, maybe a lot), but that’s part of my charm. I also LOVE toys—seriously, I’ve built quite the collection and I’m very proud of it. I get along with other dogs, though I can be a bit bossy at times. I don’t have to be an only pup, but I do best with dog-savvy humans who understand that small dogs can have big feelings. I’m very protective of my people and just want to keep them safe. Cats? Well… I think they’re fun to chase, so I’d probably prefer a home without them (or with cats who can stand their ground). The good news? I’m crate trained, house trained, great on a leash, spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped—and I just had a dental, so my smile is sparkling. If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky, toy-loving cuddle buddy with loads of personality, I might be your girl. I promise to love you fiercely and keep life entertaining. If you are interested in adopting Nora, please complete an adoption application on our website (uaaf.org/adopt).
