A committed home is required for her to make the trip, and we're hopeful the right person is out there! Meet Acorn! Acorn is a sweet 5-year-old girl weighing just 11 pounds who is ready for a fresh start! She arrived at the shelter as a stray with quite a few old injuries, although unfortunately, her history and what happened to her are unknown. Thankfully, everything is healed! Acorn does have a noticeable knot along her ribs, some limited mobility in one back leg, and a few missing teeth. The vet suspects she may have been hit by something or bumped by a car in the past. She is not experiencing any pain or current issues related to her old injuries. She is otherwise a sweet and affectionate little girl who would love a soft place to land. She does fine with other dogs and cats. Since she was a stray, we do not know if she is potty trained, but we assume she has lived in a home at some point in her life. While her injuries have healed, Acorn can still be a little stiff and fearful when being picked up or carried. She seems worried about getting hurt again and can be particular about how she is handled. Because of this, we would recommend a home without very young children. Older, respectful kids who understand the importance of being gentle would be a better fit. She isn't mean or unfriendly; she just needs a little extra understanding when it comes to handling. Acorn is heartworm negative, spayed, and up to date on her vetting. This little girl deserves a home where she can feel safe, be treated gently, and finally experience the love and kindness she deserves.
