Story
🌴 GARY: Tiny Dog. Big Feelings. Full-Time Best Friend. 🌴Let’s just get this out of the way:Gary is not your average Chihuahua.Gary is a vibe.A sun-soaking, cheese-loving, big-eyed little shadow who is looking for his person — and when he finds them? Game over. You’re his whole world.💛 The Gary Experience:🛏️ Sleeps in the big bed like the king he is (ramps up like a pro when you say “bedtime!”)🐾 Follows you everywhere — your loyal co-pilot in life☀️ Professional sunbather & certified beach chair tester💃 Zoomies, but make it ✨spicy✨ — he hops and kicks his back legs like a tiny rodeo star🧀 Will absolutely commit crimes for cheese (and honestly… worth it)At 8 years old and 8 pounds, Gary is the perfect mix of playful + chill. He’s got just enough pep to keep you smiling, and just enough couch potato energy to binge-watch life right next to you.✨ His Personality (aka: why you’ll fall for him):Gary is a soft-hearted, slightly nervous, deeply devoted little guy. Life hasn’t exactly been stable for him — after losing his person, he was shuffled between homes before landing in rescue. So yeah… he takes a minute to trust. But when he does?He turns into the most loving, snuggly, ride-or-die companion you could ask for. We’re talking:💛 Your shadow💛 Your couch buddy💛 Your “why is he staring at me like I’m his whole universe” guy⚠️ Let’s be real (because Gary deserves the right home):Gary is not a “grab him and go” purse dog.He does not like being picked up unless necessaryHe can be nervous with new people and may show teeth or nip if pushed too fastYoung children are not a good match for him. He needs a calm, respectful environment. He’ll bark when left alone (he just misses you, okay?)The vet is not his favorite. He’ll need a muzzle or cone to keep everyone safe (SAME, Gary. I don't like the doctor either)What he does need is someone patient, understanding, and willing to let him come to you on his terms.🐶 Dog Friends?Totally fine! Big, small — he’s cool with everyone, as long as they respect his space (especially during beauty sleep).🩺 Health Notes:Gary has a luxating patella and a heart murmur, plus a history of possible seizures, but here’s the important part:👉 None of this slows him down. He’s living his best life and keeping up just fine.He takes a small daily dose of Fluoxetine to help ease his anxious brain — think of it as his “stay chill” supplement. He also takes a small dose of Keppra. Total if less than $25 a month total.📌 The Stats:✔️ Housebroken✔️ Crate trained✔️ Low energy, low shedding, low barking (unless you leave him 💔)✔️ Knows “come,” “sit,” and “bedtime” (which is objectively adorable)🌺 Gary’s Dream Life:A quiet home.A patient human.A sunny spot to nap.Unlimited snacks (especially cheese… and maybe the occasional cheeseburger, just saying).🎶 Walk-out song: Only Wanna Be With You — because once Gary picks you, that’s it. You’re his person.Gary isn’t for everyone — and that’s exactly what makes him so special. But for the right person? He’s a once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog.💥 If you’ve got the heart, the patience, and a soft spot for the underdog…Gary is waiting to be your whole world.Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Story
Meet TinkerbellEight Pounds of Pure Cozy. Some dogs dream of climbing mountains. Some dream of chasing squirrels. Tinkerbell dreams of finding the softest pillow in your house... and then conducting a thorough inspection of every other pillow just to make sure she didn't miss a better one. She's basically the Yelp reviewer of home furnishings. At 10 years old and just 8 pounds, this Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix has perfected the art of being the easiest little companion you'll ever meet. She's sweet without being clingy, adventurous without being wild, and cuddly without requiring you to cancel your plans.Although... she'd be perfectly happy if you did.Tinkerbell came to us after being surrendered because a young child in her previous home continually tormented her. Thankfully, that difficult chapter hasn't dimmed her spirit one bit. She still believes people are wonderful, greets everyone with a wag, and has proven she's incredibly resilient. She's the kind of dog who simply rolls with life. Need to run errands? She'll hop in the car. Going for a boat ride? Count her in. Walking through downtown Chicago? She's ready. Taking a peaceful stroll down a country road? That's wonderful too.Tinkerbell isn't picky about the destination. She just wants to be your favorite little sidekick. She also has exactly two speeds on walks:"Let's get some exercise!" and "Hang on...this leaf has a fascinating story."Both are equally acceptable. Her greatest love, besides her people, is a stuffed bunny named Bun. Bun is her best friend. Her favorite fetch toy. Her bedtime security blanket. Her emotional support rabbit. Lose Bun and you may find yourself apologizing to an eight-pound dog. When bedtime rolls around, Tinkerbell adapts with the seasons. During cooler months she'll happily burrow under the blankets with you like a tiny hot water bottle. In warmer weather, she carefully assembles an impressive nest of blankets on the couch, because comfort is an art form and she's something of a professional. She's fully housebroken as long as you keep her simple schedule (after breakfast, once in the afternoon, and after dinner), walks beautifully on leash once it's clipped on, rides wonderfully in the car, rarely barks, and has enough shedding to keep your lint roller wondering if it still has a job.The only thing that makes her a little nervous is having the leash slipped over her head. Once it's on, though? She's all business and can't wait to hit the sidewalk. She happily greets other dogs with a polite sniff, loves meeting new people, and seems to believe everyone she encounters could become a new friend. And while she may not know a long list of commands yet, she's eager to learn. She's already mastered coming when called and is currently accepting payment in chicken and cheese for lessons on "Sit."Tinkerbell's Résumé:Professional cuddlerCertified Pillow InspectorStuffed Bunny EnthusiastAdventure CompanionBlanket Nest ArchitectLeopard Print Fashion IconLow-maintenance roommateWorld-class best friendTinkerbell doesn't need an extravagant life. She just wants someone to love, a comfy place to nap, a few good walks every day, Bun nearby, and a home where she'll never have to wonder if she's safe again. If you've been looking for the kind of dog who quietly becomes the best part of every day, congratulations.Your search may just be over.Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog.
