Meet Toby! Hi all, I’m Toby! Foster mom says I’m a “cute little squeak.” I’m not sure what she means, since I hardly make a peep except when I’m being a guard dog (like us little chihuahuas have to be). I'm a senior guy, weighing just 8 pounds, but I could stand to lose one pound to be a healthy weight I was surrendered to a shelter when my owner could no longer keep me and boy was it scary! It's hard to be a little guy in a big world sometimes. But Albert’s took me in, and I’m getting comfy in my foster home day by day. I love getting pets. I was surrendered with my sister Molly, and we’ve always lived together, but we aren’t bonded. In my foster home, I live with lots of other dogs, and I get along with them, but sometimes I have to tell them who is boss (me, obviously). I also get along with respectful kiddos, but I won't seek their attention. I just kind of like hanging out. I love lounging in a soft dog bed or even in my crate (it's my quiet place). I don’t mind being crated at all, in fact, but I’m house trained and don’t destroy anything, so I don’t need to be crated. I do well on a leash and really enjoy going for walks, but my stride is much shorter than yours! I recently had a dental cleaning, and I had a lot of my teeth removed (I guess that is what you get when you don’t brush!). Foster mom says it’ll give me “fresh breath.” I’m also being treated for anaplasma and lymes disease (both caused by tick bites). I don’t have any symptoms, and I probably never will, but Albert’s just wants to make sure I get extra good care. I'm hoping that will be with you! *Toby is being fostered in Madison, WI. Meet Karley! I'm a quiet little, 7lb adult chihuhua mix who loves to cuddle and play! I am dog friendly with other mellow pups (have not been cat tested) but prefer a mellow home that is kid free. My most favorite thing to do is nap and then work on my chew toy when I wake up. I walk well on a leash for short walks but would enjoy having a fenced in yard. Meet Peanut! Hello, my name is Peanut, and I'm looking for someone who will consider me their little peanut! I'm a senior guy now, and I'm about 17 pounds, but with a healthy balance of snack-o's and excersize, I could lose a couple more pounds. Did someone say snacks? I love me a good snack! Actually, maybe a little too much, so make sure the kiddos in the household give me treats with an open hand so I don't mistake their little fingers as part of the treat. I love humans, and since my personality is everything great in the world, I could easily live with small humans. I also enjoy the company of another dog, no matter the size, though I've never been around a cat, so I don't know how I'd do with them. I have perfect house manners. I go outside to potty, and I don't need to be crated while you're away because I'm not destructive at all. I'd also love to go with you on adventures, so I hope you'll take me with you from time to time. I love meeting new humans and other dog friends, so I could go to the store with you to pick out my own treats if you'd like! I know there are so many choices, so I wouldn't want to burden you with that task! I do well walking on a leash, but if you have a fenced yard, that's cool too. I'll make sure to sniff all the sniffs in the yard and get lots of exceraize out there. I don't really enjoy my little feets getting wet, though, so you might have to do some convincing to get me out if it's raining. When you come home from work I promise to always be happy to see you and give you my signature smile! I love to smile for my humans, and foster mom calls me a little ham, whatever that means. In the evening, when it's time to wind down, I'll lay next to you or the kids on the couch for some belly rubs. When it's time to go to bed, I'd love to sleep in the big bed with my human or in a big fluffy dog bed with lots of blankets to make just right before I snooze the night away. Meet Lucy! Hello, my name is Lucy. I'm a distinguished, senior lady who knows what she wants and when she wants it. At just over 17 pounds, I could stand to lose a couple of pounds, but with proper portion control, it'll come off in no time flat. I'm a bit more reserved at first and will take my time getting to know my new surroundings. I really enjoy the company of another dog that I can build a strong bond with and look to for guidance and reassurance if necessary. Once I warm up to my people, I enjoy attention from them and will ask for it. But, I will also tell you if I don't particularly care for affection if I'm not in the mood. I could happily live with older kiddos who can read my signals, but younger children wouldn't be a good fit for me. I would do best in a quiet, mellow home. Remember how I said I'm a lady? When he was surrendered, we were told he is paranoid - and that does fit him. He gets worried when he has a tag on his collar or when he is wearing a sweater. He has stranger danger, so isn't going to want to be in a household where people are coming and going a lot or where he is expected to go visiting. While he has some issues, he is a funny and loving guy to the people he has bonded with. He will sit excitedly, waiting for one of his chosen ones to kneel down and open his kennel door so he can leap out and give a hug. It is now time for him to venture out and find a family of his own. While he lived with other dogs in his previous home, at the shelter there are a number of dogs he doesn't get along with - primarily males, so he may do best as an only dog or a female dog with a slow introduction. Domino went for a short home visit with a volunteer to see how he would be in a home. He had issues with other dogs in the house when the foster mom had food. We are hoping for an only dog home for him to lessen the chance for issues if he decided to try to guard his person or his food. He did warm up to visitors with some time, but will likely always need a slow introduction. If you are looking to adopt a dog that really needs you, Domino may be that guy. He is an athletic little guy who will climb up to the top of his kennel so he can look out and see what is going on. If you can offer Domino a patient and loving home, please fill out the pre-adoption application and we can discuss more things about him. Once an application is approved you will be notified by email to make an appointment to meet the dog. All dogs are seen by appointment only. The adoption fee through Bichon and Little Buddies Rescue is $200 - $550 depending on the age of the dog, which includes Wi State Sales Tax. Included in this fee is your new companion who will be spayed/neutered, have a current Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (as required by state law), current on age appropriate vaccinations, heartworm tested (if old enough) and started on preventative, microchipped, and given a general wormer. Other medical needs will also have been taken care of, such as dentals and treating ear infections. To assist you and your new pet in adjusting to life together, you may chose to take an 8 week age appropriate obedience training course at For Pet's Sake Dog Training in Mukwonago, WI for $75 (up to $230 value). You may opt to take Puppy Kindergarten, Adult Beginners, or Small Dogs Big Hearts. You must register for the class within 90 days of adoption for the reduced fee. Meet Peewee! Oh hey, I’m Peewee and I see you have a hand free - please pet me! You won’t regret it - I’m super soft and plush! I’m a pomeranian mix and I have the fur to prove it. I’m a senior and about 13 pounds. I don’t have any known health issues. I was found as a stray in Chicago - can you believe it? Beautiful moi?? Kids, adults, seniors - I love anyone who wants to give me some attention. Here in my foster home, I love to be where the action is. You’re in the kitchen? I’m in the kitchen! You’re watching TV? Well, me too! I’ve been attending lots of Albert’s events lately, and I love meeting my fans. I also live with several other dogs in my foster home. We’re all fine with each other, but we all have a little dog complex, and we all want to be “the boss.” I can get a little vocal with the other dogs, but that’s it. But I shouldn't live with cats. I’m a pretty vocal guy in genereal, and probably wouldn’t make the best apartment dog. Despite my age, I have some energy and would do best in a home that can give me regular walks. I get so excited when the leash comes out! I’m house trained and don’t destroy anything when left out, but might have an accident when left out for long periods unsupervised. My foster parents crate me when they leave the house, and I don’t mind too much. I get a little nervous during thunderstorms, but you can keep me comfortable by sitting close to me so I know there's nothing to be scared of.
