Story
Meet Aladdin, a 2-year-old male Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix. Aladdin may be a little shy at first, but behind those cautious eyes is a very sweet boy who just needs a little patience and kindness. When he first arrived, he spent some time hiding, but within just a few hours he was already coming up for gentle pets and even offering a few shy kisses. Once Aladdin decides you are safe, his affection starts to shine through. He is already potty trained, crate trained, and does well in the car. He is a quiet, low energy companion who would be happiest in a calm home where things move at a slower pace. Fast movements and quick introductions can make him nervous at first, so he will need someone who understands that trust takes a little time. Aladdin gets along with other dogs, though very high energy pups can feel overwhelming for him right now. A calm, low energy dog friend could help him build confidence. One thing to know about this little guy is that he is a bit of an escape artist while he is settling in. Until he feels safe and secure, he may look for ways to sneak out of pens or open spaces, so safety is important. Aladdin is the kind of dog that forms a deep bond with his person. The moment he starts to trust you and seeks out your affection makes every bit of patience worth it. If you are looking for a gentle little companion who will reward your kindness with loyalty and love, Aladdin may be your perfect match. Aladdin is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/21/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Story
Fanny, whose foster parents are calling her Annie, is a sweet older girl with a calm, gentle, and even-tempered personality. With her low energy level and love of companionship, she’s perfect for someone looking for a relaxed sidekick. Although she lives peacefully with other small dogs in her foster home, she would be fine as the only dog in the home because she enjoys human companionship. Annie is independent without being distant and enjoys simply being near her person. She likes to follow you around to make sure she’s not missing anything! Annie is leash trained and enjoys taking walks, and she has started showing some interest in exploring toys and tennis balls. She is potty trained and does her business quickly when outside; the snow and cold Minnesota weather doesn’t seem to deter her from getting her business done! Annie is generally quiet, but she has been known to bark when it is time to eat, and when first put into her crate at night or when left home alone. She settles quickly at night and sleeps quietly through the night. Annie was found as a stray just before a recent freeze in Texas. Someone had posted asking for help, and thankfully she was rescued in time. She was very underweight when found, and after a vet visit it was discovered she needed to begin heart medication. Her foster can tell you more about her heart condition. Since starting her medication, Annie has been gaining weight, feeling stronger, and showing more pep in her step every day. She will continue to need heart medication for the remainder of her life. Her foster parents are still working on putting a few more pounds on her. Annie also has some hearing loss. Annie is a sweet gentle older girl who just wants and deserves a safe loving home where she can relax and be cared for. She has been through a lot, and now she’s ready for a stable forever family who will continue giving her the love and medical care she needs. Annie would make a wonderful low-key companion for someone who appreciates a loyal little shadow by their side! She would love a home without young children and where her people are home most of the time. Even though Annie will require some ongoing heart medication, don’t let that deter you from filling out an application because she still has so much love to give and life to live.

Story
Enzo is a sweet little Chihuahua with a gentle heart and a personality that shines once he feels comfortable. He may be a little cautious when meeting new people, but give him a few minutes and you’ll see his silly, affectionate side come out. Once he warms up, Enzo loves nothing more than being close to his person. This little guy absolutely thrives on affection. Pets, cuddles, and kisses are some of his favorite things, and he’ll happily stay snuggled up with you for as long as you let him. One of his favorite ways to show love is by laying on your chest and giving sweet little hand kisses. Enzo also has a playful side. Toss a toy and he’ll happily chase after it, ready for another round. He enjoys treats and mealtime and approaches both with lots of enthusiasm. Curious by nature, Enzo likes exploring his surroundings and keeping an eye on what his people are doing. When it’s time to relax, Enzo loves burrowing under a cozy blanket for a nap. Every now and then he’ll pop his head out just to check on his favorite human before settling back in. He is crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night. Enzo currently lives with both big and small dogs. He does well with them but prefers having his own space, such as his own dog bed or blanket. He’s okay with toys around him but doesn’t like sharing when a toy is in his possession. He’s already showing improvement with sharing spaces and just needs a patient home that will continue helping him build confidence and good habits. Calm, non-reactive dogs would be the best companions for him. He is leash trained, does well in the car, enjoys toys, water, and fetch, and has a moderate energy level with a fun, goofy personality. Enzo is also very smart and eager to please, so with a little guidance he should pick up training quickly. He is still working on potty training and does best with a routine. Enzo has only barked occasionally outside while joining in with his foster dog friends, and otherwise is a pretty quiet little guy. He is currently a bit underweight but is doing well and continuing to improve. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who will shower you with affection, cuddle under blankets, and keep you smiling with his playful personality, Enzo may be the perfect addition to your family. 💛 Enzo is from Texas.
