Story
Meet Pepper – Chow Chow Looking for a New HomePepper is a 2-year-old Chow Chow who is looking for a new home due to a change in our family's circumstances. We adopted her before having children, and one of our children has developed an allergy to her.Pepper is potty trained, crate trained, and leash trained. She knows basic commands including sit, down, kennel, and come. She does well with children of all ages.Pepper loves spending time outdoors and would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard. She would also do best as the only dog in the home. She can interact appropriately with other dogs in neutral locations but can be territorial with other dogs in her home.We care deeply about finding Pepper the right home and are asking a reasonable rehoming fee of $150 to help ensure serious inquiries.Located in Tacoma, WA.

Story
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. To see more pictures of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. A 30ish pound, 6-year-old female Super Mutt, Sheba arrived to Smidget pregnant. Having done a great job raising her pups, she’s now ready to bring dances of joy and lots of cuddles to her forever home. She is delighted to run with you, play ball, or lounge on the couch. She is loyal, eager to please, and gets along well with other dogs and cats. Sheba’s energy levels are high and would be too much for a home with small children. In addition to normal barking, she will make a series of high-pitched noises when triggered by something such as a strange dog. Very smart and food-motivated, she responds well to training. New people are a challenge for her, and she will take some time—and treats—to warm up to them. To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events . Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at smidgetrescue@hotmail.com or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. 8632781We get a fair number of incorrect emails and Jamie is not able to contact potential adopters. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit. If your home seems like a great fit for the dog you would like to adopt, you must then drive to meet the dog at one of our weekend events or at the fosters home.

Tofu is a little spit fire. He loves to walk and play in the yard with friends. He is full of energy that he needs to burn off. He will need a home that is active and doesn't have some small kids. He loves to play ball and then climb up on the couch and watch a movie. He is a little bundle of love. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and chipped. Medical History * Neuter Status: Completed * Microchip: Registered (Internal chip completed) * Other Notes: Heartworm retest scheduled for December 2026 2. Rescue Story Kuma was living at the Gimje Shelter. Because the shelter environment was vulnerable to infectious diseases, ADOGS could not leave him behind and stepped in urgently to rescue him. 3. Personality & Characteristics * Interaction with Humans: He is fearful and tends to keep his distance from people. He runs away from strangers and finds physical contact difficult. However, he has improved significantly compared to before; his guard around familiar people has lowered, and he now approaches first with a happy smile, though he still flinches and freezes when touched. * Interaction with Dogs: He coexists peacefully without showing much interest in other dogs. He has never shown aggression toward dog friends. * Interaction with Cats: He has not yet been introduced to cats. * Separation Anxiety: Since he is currently living in a group setting at the shelter, his individual anxiety levels are unknown. Structured independence training will be needed from day one in a home environment. * Potty Training: He currently uses both indoor and outdoor potty setups at the shelter. He does not show leg-lifting marking behavior. * Grooming & Hygiene: He does not have formal grooming experience yet. * Leash Walking: He is still afraid of walks. He freezes up when someone tries to put on his leash and digs his feet in, resisting going outside. He will need patient, ongoing training. * Motion Sickness: He showed no signs of car sickness during short-distance rides. * Biting/Defensive Reactions: Caution is required as he has shown defensive biting when people attempt to touch him suddenly. When a leash is put on him, he nips and chews at it. * Barking: He has shown no barking or whining behavior. Guidance and training may be needed once he transitions into a home setting. * Personality & Tendencies: He is cautious, timid, and naturally watchful. He gets frightened when cornered into small spaces and feels uncomfortable when people approach too closely or attempt physical touch. He needs a patient family who will build trust with him slowly over time.
