Story
Soulful Emma is ready for her fresh start! Emma is estimated to be around 7-8 years old, and she is a loving girl who is happiest when she can be on someone's lap. She is the epitome of a darling little old lady, and she is ready to spend her golden years being spoiled like the little princess she is. Emma currently weighs about 7lbs, but could benefit from gaining a little weight. Emma came to us after she was at risk of euthanasia at a NorCal animal shelter. When she was examined for her spay surgery, they discovered she had a heart condition called P atent Ductus Arteriosus. She needed surgery, but the shelter was unable to provide it. We were so grateful that a generous donor stepped up to cover the costs of her surgery. She is now cured from her heart condition and ready to find her fur-ever home! Emma is a mellow gal who enjoys the simple things in life: tasty food, cuddles, and sunbathing. She is a true lap dog who can typically be found cuddling in someone's lap. She thrives on being the center of attention and would be a great little buddy for a retired person who needs a low-energy companion. She enjoys her short walks, but is way more interested in being cozy at home. Emma has done well living with other small, mellow dogs. She definitely would love being the only dog, but she has learned how to share the spotlight. We haven't seen Emma around cats, but we think she would do well living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Due to her fragile size, Emma would do best in an adult-only home. Emma has been doing great with her housetraining, but may have a few accidents while she is acclimating to a new home and routine. She has done very well being crated or free roaming when left home alone for short periods. She is happy to sleep in her crate or in bed with you if you let her. Emma could do well living in an apartment. Emma has a few health concerns, including dental disease. She will need a dental cleaning and some extractions in her new home. She has luxating patellas in both knees, but doesn't require any treatment at this time. Emma's heart condition doesn't require any treatment since she had her surgery. Emma has been through a lot, and she deserves a great family to shower her with love. Story
We love Taffy, and we know you will, too! Taffy is estimated to be around 7 months old, and she is a bubbly girl with an irresistibly sweet personality. She brings so much happiness wherever she goes, and it's pretty impossible not to fall in love with her adorable grin. Taffy is a moderately active girl who would love a family that can keep up with her puppy energy. Taffy weighs about 17lbs and appears to be fully grown. Taffy was found with her brother and brought to a Central California animal shelter. Due to chronic overcrowding, the puppies found themselves on the euthanasia list. Her brother went to a different rescue, and Taffy came to us. She has blossomed in foster care and has gained lots of confidence. She went from an insecure girl to a brave and curious pup. Taffy is such a joy to be around, and she charms everyone she meets with her affectionate and goofy personality. She would thrive in a home with lots of people to love on her. Taffy loves playtime and has even convinced the older dogs in her foster home to romp around with her. She is a very food-motivated girl and will need a family who can continue working on her basic manners with her. She would be a great candidate for group training classes. Taffy loves other dogs and would absolutely love a playful doggie companion in her new home. She also may do well as an only dog with lots of opportunities to socialize with dog friends. We haven't seen Taffy around cats, but we think she could do well living with dog-savvy cats after a slow introduction. Taffy can be jumpy/mouthy when excited, but could do well living with older kids who should can't knock over when excited. Taffy has been doing great with her housetraining using a dog door. She is still adjusting to being left in her crate, but she has done well being left in a contained outdoor area with the resident dogs for short periods. Taffy could do well living in an apartment with someone who has a schedule that would allow them to slowly acclimate her to being home alone in a crate. Taffy is such a sweet girl who deserves a family just as great as her. If you think that could be you, submit an application today!   Taffy's adoption fee is $500.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application.
