Story
**Pugs are prone to lots of major health issues, like heat stroke, eye issues, and skin allergies, so we are specifically looking for a pug-savvy home for Pugsley.**   Pugsley is a gentle soul eager for love! Pugsley is estimated to be 6 years old and is a sweet and affectionate guy who bonds strongly with his people. Unlike most pugs, he can be shy when meeting new people and in new situations, so he is looking for a patient family to help him continue to gain confidence. Once he makes himself comfortable, he is a goofy guy who loves his soft, squeaky toys and cuddling on the couch. Pugsley currently weighs about 20lbs. Pugsley was found as a stray after he was hit by a car. He was brought to the animal shelter and found to have a fracture of the femoral head. Thanks to the wonderful UC Davis Fracture Program, he was able to get a procedure called a femoral head ostectomy, and he was transferred to our care to heal in a foster home. Pugsley has made a great recovery and is back to normal activity. The only special care he will need is to stay at a lean weight to keep him healthy (which is already important for pugs). Pugsley is a loyal companion who is quick to become your BFF with a gentle touch and tasty treats (he is a pug after all!). He warms up quickly to women and has learned to make friends with men after a slow introduction. He is a submissive guy who just needs patience to thrive. He would love a quiet home with people who can shower him with love. He is a total cuddlebug who will make himself comfy in your lap while you lounge at home, but is also a big fan of his daily walks in the cool morning/evening weather. Like all pugs, he makes the funniest little grunting and snorting noises and snores the night away. Pugsley doesn't seem to have been taught any tricks in his previous life, but we love him anyway. Pugsley has done very well living with other small dogs, but can easily be overwhelmed by bigger or in-your-face dogs. He likes his dog friends to be easy-going like him. He also would have no problem being your only pup. Pugsley has done very well living with cats, and is respectful of their space (but he will try to get into the litter box). Due to his shy personality, Pugsley would do best in an adult-only home or with respectful kids over 10 years old. Pugsley appears to have been taught how to pee on a pee pad in his previous life and is still adjusting to pottying outside. He will need a family committed to continuing his training, or be okay with him being pee pad trained. Pugsley does well in his crate for short periods and needs to be crated when alone, as he will get into things he's not supposed to when not supervised. He is happy to sleep through the night in a dog bed in the bedroom, but would probably be happy to join you in bed if you let him. Pugsley has been doing well living in an apartment, but housetraining may be easier in a home with a yard. Pugsley had a skin infection when he came into our care, and we suspect that he has a flea bite allergy. He should be kept up-to-date with monthly flea preventatives to prevent any further skin irritation. Pugsley is such a wonderful guy, and he is going to make someone very happy! If you think that might be you, submit an application today!   Pugsley's adoption fee is $500.   Apply to adopt here!  https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/   Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. May 29, 2026, 8:15 pm

Story
Hoagie is the ultimate cuddle bug, happiest when hes right beside his people. Within minutes of arriving at his foster home, he made himself part of the family, following his humans from room to room, hopping onto the sofa for snuggles, and curling up in bed at night. He forms deep bonds quickly and absolutely thrives on love and companionship. We estimate him to be about 8 years old. Hoagie is hard of hearing and relies on visual cues, but the second he spots his person, he lights up and comes running with excitement. Hes incredibly affectionate, attentive, and just wants to be near the people he loves. He also has a serious weakness for carrots. He came to rescue from a Stockton shelter after being found as a stray. Not long after arriving, he developed kennel cough and needed an emergency vet visit, but thankfully he recovered well and is now feeling great. Hoagie would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time. Being alone is hard for him, and hell bark or howl when his people leave because he simply loves being close. Otherwise, hes a pretty quiet guy, except when meals are involved because then he makes sure everyone knows its time to eat. Hes friendly and curious with other dogs and has been gentle and sweet with visitors, including children. On leash, he may bark at people or dogs, but off leash hes much more relaxed and easygoing. He enjoys slow strolls full of sniffing and exploring rather than long, fast-paced walks. Hes also potty trained. Hoagie was recently neutered, received a dental cleaning, and got soft palate surgery to help him breathe better. This sweet, devoted boy is ready for a forever home that will give him the closeness, comfort, and love hes been searching for.

Story
Say hello to Remy and that adorable little tongue! Its always peeking out because Remy has no teeth (more on that below), and it only adds to her charm. Remy is a four-year-old pug who came to us as an owner surrender and is now looking for her forever home. Remy is affectionate, smart, and already knows her basic commands (and some fun ones!) Shes fully potty trained and loves nothing more than being close to her people. She also is great in a crate! A true velcro pug, Remy wants to be by your side and go everywhere with you. Shes an active girl who enjoys playtime and exercise, especially a good game of fetch. Remy enjoys hikes, sniffing around, and soaking up the sunshine. While she generally gets along with other dogs, she does show some resource guarding, so thoughtful introductions and guidance are important. She's also not a big fan of larger dogs, much like many small dogs. Shes been around cats and young kids and does fine. Remy would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time to provide the consistency, reassurance, and companionship she needs right now. All of Remys teeth were removed when she was young due to some malformations, so she eats softened kibble and absolutely loves her veggies. Bonus: no dental cleanings needed! She has no health issues other than the one that was resolved with the teeth pulling. Her previous family decided to rehome her after welcoming a baby and no longer having the time she deserves. Remy is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and shes currently being fostered in San Francisco. Shes ready to give her whole heart to a family who will cherish her forever.

Story
The man. The myth. The legend Guppy. This little gremlin king has somehow been in rescue since September. Eight whole months without a forever family of his own. Plenty of people have loved him from afar, but no one has made it official yet. Luckily, hes been spoiled by our friend Michelle at @pughotel while he waits for his happily ever after. We think Guppy is around 6 years old but honestly, he could be 2 or 97. Time works differently for pugs like him. He may not have won the genetics lottery, but what he lacks in conventional good looks he more than makes up for in personality, charm, and comedic presence. Maybe hes a pug mix, maybe hes not. Bulldog? Alien? Only a DNA test can tell us for sure. He was born without his right eye, has a uniquely shaped head, a dramatic underbite, and the cutest wobbly walk youve ever seen. Guppy came to us from Californias Central Valley after his owner entered a nursing home without a care plan for the dogs. Despite it all, hes a happy little guy who wants nothing more than toys to chew, a comfy place to nap, and a human to follow around like a shadow. Hes good with confident cats and dogs of all sizes, though hed probably be just as happy as an only dog. He can be protective of his bed but honestly, same. Hes quirky, hilarious, unforgettable, and absolutely the main character everywhere he goes. Guppy plans to attend our Pug Prom in a few weeks unless someone realizes before then that their life is missing their soulmate.

Story
Large and in charge, Dalton is a lovable blockhead with a giant head, long legs, and an even bigger personality. We estimate him to be around 34 years old, and hes the kind of dog who bursts into your life and immediately makes himself at home. Dalton loves an adventure. Coffee shop trips, car rides, neighborhood walkshes always ready to tag along. Hes super sweet, friendly, and confident, with a goofy enthusiasm for life that makes everyone smile. He does need some help learning boundaries with other dogs, as he can get overly excited during playtime. Because of his energy level and size, hed thrive in an active home that can keep him engaged. Doggy daycare, pack walks, outdoor adventures, or a playful dog his size or bigger would all be right up his alley. Dalton also has a little separation anxiety, though its manageable, and hell need continued structure and activity to help him feel secure and fulfilled. Hell bark at cats, so a feline-free home would be best. This handsome guy recently had soft palate surgery to help him breathe more comfortably and is already feeling so much better. Dalton came to us from Tulare Animal Services after being found as a stray. Despite whatever journey hes had before rescue, hes remained a confident, affectionate dog whos ready to claim his spot in someones heartand probably on their couch, too. Hes neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and being fostered in Vacaville, CA.

Story
We estimate this handsome pug to be around 34 years old. He came to us from Elk Grove Animal Services after they reached out for help when it was discovered he had a severe case of Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome that required surgery to improve his breathing. Benji has since undergone his soft palate surgery and even got a dental cleaning at the same time. Benji is a spirited, energetic boy who would thrive in an active home that can keep up with his playful personality. Hes best suited for a household with older kids (10 and up) while he continues working on his manners. Hes learning boundaries and commands like no, and while hes definitely a work in progress, hes already showing improvement. He can be quite stubborn and likes to test limits, so hell need a patient, consistent adopter whos committed to ongoing training. Hes definitely a pug! When he first arrived, Benji struggled with marking in the home, but hes made great progress and is doing much better with house training. He already knows sit, gets along well with other dogs, and does well when left alone without being destructive. Hes recently started chewing on toys, a sweet sign that hes settling in and learning to relax. Benji has a big heart and loves affection, happily seeking it out throughout the day. Hes a loyal little shadow who prefers to stay right by his persons side and will follow them everywhereeven to the bathroom. He does not enjoy being crated and will let you know with plenty of howling, as he much prefers companionship. This lovable, headstrong pug is looking for a patient home that will continue guiding him while embracing his affectionate, clingy nature and zest for life. Hes now neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and feeling so much better. Hes currently being fostered in San Jose.
