Story
If you're looking for a loyal sidekick who wants to be involved in every part of your day, Gerald is your guy. This happy, affectionate pug loves being with his people and will happily follow you from room to room just to see what you're up to. Lovingly called Jerry, this happy guy came to us from a CA Central Valley shelter. We estimate him to be around 3 years old, and he is playful, social, and always ready for an adventure. He enjoys walks, loves attention, and is quick to offer cuddles when it's time to relax. He's eager to please and has a wonderful, goofy personality that makes people fall for him fast. Like many rescue dogs, Jerry is still working on a few things. He's learning leash manners and gets more confident on walks every day. He's also making progress with potty training as he settles into a routine. He has a small undeveloped eye that does not hurt or need to be removed. Jerry would do best in a home where he can be the star of the show and soak up plenty of love and attention. He hasn't been tested with children yet, but everyone he's met so far has been greeted with enthusiasm, curiosity, and lots of affection. He's friendly with cats, but like most dogs will want to chase them if they run. He recently got neutered, a dental cleaning, a microchip, and full vaccinations. If you're looking for a devoted companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Jerry is ready to meet you.

Story
Kiki is a busy little girl who wants to be involved in everything, especially whatever is happening in the kitchen. She loves stuffy toys, sniffing around, and keeping tabs on her people. She also loves kids and has been friendly with pretty much everyone she has met so far. Kiki is a great little sleeper and settles nicely into her kennel at night. She has also done well staying kenneled when her foster family leaves to run errands. She is still working on her potty training and seems to be more accustomed to using potty pads indoors, so her foster family is helping her learn that outside is the place to go. She has some typical female pug energy and is still learning to get along with her foster sister, but she gets along well with her foster brother. At around 2 to 3 years old, Kiki is a fun, affectionate girl who is continuing to learn and settle into her new life. Kiki came to us as an owner surrender and is being fostered in Woodland, CA. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Story
Meet this adorable 5-year-old girl with a face you won't forget. Her big, expressive eyes look like a real-life emoji, and her sweet facial folds somehow make every mood show up on her face. Whether she's curious, unimpressed, excited, or feeling a little extra, you'll know exactly what she's thinking. She came to us as as an owner surrender. She's sweet, cuddly, affectionate, and loves being close to her people. She also enjoys neighborhood walks when it's not too hot, followed by some quality lounging and snuggle time. She's currently working on getting to a healthier weight, but she carries her curves with plenty of confidence. And personality? She has LOTS of it, she is definitely sassy & extra in the cutest way. When it comes to other animals, she prefers to be selective. She does not enjoy cats, bigger dogs, or older female dogs, so she may be happiest as the only pet where she can have all the love and attention to herself. She's a bit of an alpha. Health-wise, she is on life-long thyroid medication. It would be extremely beneficial for her to lose at least 5 pounds for her joints and heart. She's as active as she can be at this size, and we know she's eager to run. If you're looking for a sweet, cuddly little character with an emoji face, expressive wrinkles, and enough sass to keep you smiling, she just might be your girl. She's spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and just received a dental cleaning. She's being fostered in the North Bay.

Story
Nacho is a happy, sweet, and silly 2-year-old pug who seems to love everyone he meets. He gets along well with other dogs and cats and especially loves people, including children. He enjoys cuddling with his people but is also perfectly capable of entertaining himself. He loves collecting toys, treats, and bones and carrying them into his kennel like a little canine magpie. At 28 pounds, Nacho is a sturdy boy who enjoys long walks and adventures, but he's surprisingly calm in the house. After a few minutes of play, training, or a puzzle toy, he settles down nicely. He's also fantastic in public. On a recent brunch outing, he was an absolute angel. Nacho was recently surrendered when his family realized they weren't able to provide the attention, consistency, and training he needed to thrive. His next family will need to continue building on the progress he's already making, including working on potty training and marking. He's comfortable in a crate and sleeps in one at night, but we're sure he'd love to join you in bed. He's a quick learner and has already mastered "sit" and "touch" and is working on "stay" and "kennel up." His foster family has even taught him "kiss party," where he gives chin kisses when he hears kissy sounds. It's every bit as adorable as it sounds. With consistency, continued training, and a family who will give him the structure and attention he needs, Nacho has all the makings of a wonderful companion. He's already a pretty great pug, and he's only going to get better! Nacho is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and being fostered in Sacramento, CA. He's getting a hernia repaired on September 8 and will be ready to go home shortly after that.

Story
This giant teddy bear (hence the name) is a total sweetheart with a total pug personality. He's 1.5 years old, active, playful, silly, and goofy. He's crate trained, doing great with potty training, and wonderful with kids. He loves to play with toys and is gentle with his little human friends. Oso was surrendered after getting into fights with his littermate and father. This is to be expected, with several unfixed and/or related dogs. Getting him out of that situation and neutered was a priority, and he adjusted well to the change. Oso is a confident guy, but there's one major thing he needs to do in order to feel even better: lose a significant amount of weight. At his current size, he's showing signs of a collapsing trachea, which is affecting his breathing. Soft palate surgery will help prevent further airway damage, but we don't feel comfortable putting him under for that at this weight. If an adopter can help him lose 5 pounds by the beginning of February, we will take him to our vet and pay for the procedure. Most of all, Oso needs an adopter committed to helping him get healthy and become the happiest, healthiest version of himself. This big teddy bear has a lot of love and life ahead of him!

Story
Ethel and Lucy are ready to find their forever home together. A few weeks ago, we introduced you to this sweet bonded pair after they were rescued from a heartbreaking situation. At six years old, Ethel and Lucy had endured years of neglect and abuse. They were used for breeding, confined to crates inside an RV, and denied proper medical care for far too long. Both girls have Grade 4 bilateral luxating patellas, leaving them with permanently displaced kneecaps and bowed legs. Despite everything they've been through, their spirits remain incredibly gentle, loving, and trusting. From the moment they arrived in our care, they leaned on one another for comfort. Ethel lovingly grooms Lucy every day, and the two are rarely apart. They explore side by side, curl up together for naps, and happily hop around the yard without pain. They adore being held, sitting on laps, and following their favorite people wherever they go. Ethel and Lucy are wonderful with children and dogs of all sizes. At our recent adoption event, they happily welcomed attention from everyone they met, soaking up pets and cuddles from strangers with ease. These girls deserve a home filled with love, patience, soft beds, and all the princess treatment they were denied for so many years. If you have a special place in your heart for the ones who need a little extra TLC, please consider opening your home to this extraordinary bonded pair. They'd love nothing more than to cuddle up with you on the couch or enjoy the outdoor breeze with you by their side. Both are spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and recently had dental work completed. They are currently being fostered near Sacramento. They're potty trained, have good recall, and are great in the car.
