Story
Brandy - You're a fine girl, you make a good dog indeed. Your eyes could steal a sailor from the sea.! Meet 5 yr old beautiful Brandy... now we know that you're going to see how adorable she is and get too distracted to read this next part, but please give it a read: Poor little Brandy has some trust issues. When she first came into rescue, she was wide eyed with terror and would scream and snap anytime she was touched. We're not sure what happened in her past to cause this, but a patient foster family and some calming medications have helped her overcome it for the most part. That being said, Brandy is likely not ever going to be a "take her to the coffee shop" kind of dog, Give her a backyard with a neighbor to give her treats over the fence, and a safe adult only household and she will have you wrapped around her finger. She's kennel trained but a really good girl about not chewing or getting into things when out of the crate and, bonus, shes also housetrained! Her kennel is her safe space and for the first 2 weeks she found comfort there, and still continues to spend lots of time in her little she-shed.Brandy is great with other dogs but thinks she needs to bark at neighboring cats. If you can provide a home where touch may come in small batches AT HER PACE for the first two weeks, are an adult only home, and will advocate for her when meeting new people (seriously, no touchy!) Brandy would love to meet you. If you have small children, slower reaction time, and want an immediate cuddle bug, this brown eyed girl is not for you. We know this sounds like.. a lot and yes, it takes a special home, but we know her perfect person is out there. If you're interested in adoption, our adoptions require an approved application. Tofu is a major cutie—a sweet, cuddly 1.5 year-old Cockapoo with a heart full of love and a tongue that’s almost always sticking out (seriously… it’s part of his signature look!). This affectionate little guy lives for kisses, snuggles, and being close to his people. If you’re looking for a best friend who wants to be wherever you are, Tofu is your guy.Tofu has a playful puppy spirit and still gets the zoomies like a champ! While he does have some hip and back leg issues that we’re still learning more about, it doesn’t stop him from running, playing, and enjoying life. It’s believed these traits may be inherited. Regardless, Tofu doesn’t let it slow him down and continues to be an active, happy pup.Because he’s still a puppy, Tofu can get a little mouthy when he’s extra excited, but he’s made great progress learning to redirect that energy to his beloved chew toys (which he absolutely loves). For this reason he may need to be in a home with full grown children. He’s also very fond of his toy box… though he’s still trying to understand why throw pillows aren’t considered toys. 😉Tofu is crate trained and does well settling in his kennel. He has come a long way with his potty training and continues to improve, especially with a consistent routine—he may just need a little extra patience and guidance to get fully there.He loves being outside, especially lounging in the grass and soaking up the fresh air. At the end of the day, Tofu’s favorite place is anywhere he can curl up with his human. He truly just wants to be loved and part of a family.With his sweet personality, adorable bleep tongue, and endless affection, Tofu is ready to steal hearts and become someone’s perfect companion.Interested in Adoption? Story
This is Frankie Jane. Frankie Janes has been with us for a couple of months now, but this is the first time you're meeting her--why? When she first came to us, she had some injuries that were pretty tough to look at. We don't know exactly what happened to her when she was out on the streets, but suffice it to say it took a few weeks for her skin to heal. Added to that is Frankie Jane's pretty over the top mistrust of strangers. Give her 24 hours (much less if you come armed with treats) and she will be your fiercest most loyal buddy/bodyguard who will snuggle all day long, but hoo boy, first meetings can be a little ruff--she needs plenty of space and the option of approaching you on her own terms. This makes taking her to a Meet and Greet where there's lots of busy dogs and people kind of a nightmare for her. She's much more content just staying at home--she's got some Netflix shows she's getting pretty into these days. Around the house, she's quiet, super well-mannered, loving to her people and so smart. She watches you with those gorgeous brown eyes to see what you'd like for her to do. Despite coming from the streets, she got potty training down in about a day and never has a "whoops should I be chewing this?" moment. She's a dream buddy for someone who is also a homebody, who wouldn't expect her to go to bars or restaurants or Home Depot or any of those places where she'd be expected to be around lots of folks she doesn't know. She's EXCELLENT at quiet, unassuming companionship and we know her perfect person is out there. Frankie is long and low and solid--probably some corgi or dachshund or maybe even some bassett hound in there. Her fur is still coming back in from when she had to have much of it shaved down. She is a pretty solid 30lbs and about 2 years old.
