Story
Lucy is 3 years old and has a very unique personality. She can be shy and easily scared by loud noises, balloons, and bags, and she tends to be nervous in new situations. She is naturally protective and acts as a guard dog, so she may bark and can be wary around men or strangers at first. However, once she gets comfortable and lets her guard down, Lucy becomes a very loving cuddle bug. She is truly a Velcro dog and loves being close to her person snuggling on the couch or under the covers. Lucy would do best with: A patient owner, preferably a woman. Someone experienced with dogs that have anxiety. A home with a yard, as she is very energetic. A home without other dogs, as she does not get along well with them. Lucy will also need a vet visit to help with anxiety and nail trimming, as she gets very nervous when having her nails clipped. Lucy has been raised in a home with two teenage girls and a toddler boy.

Story
Hunka hunka TJ reporting for duty! This 4 and a half-year-old heartthrob is basically perfect… with one tiny catch—he’s got a serious love affair with food. TJ is a proud member of the “snack enthusiast” club, so his future family will need strong willpower to resist those big brown eyes and keep him on a healthy routine (he’d happily trade treats for extra walks!).When he’s not dreaming about snacks, TJ is busy living his best life—emptying out toy boxes, claiming the comfiest bed in the house, and making friends with other dogs and greeting ever stranger he meets. He’s potty trained, very vocal (practicing his best Elvis impression), and a bit of a drama queen in a silly way. TJ hasn’t been kid-tested yet, so a home with older kids or adults who can respect his space and eager mouth (and not feed French fries under the table) would be ideal.Bonus feature: TJ is a stealth-mode kisser. One second he’s minding his business, the next—smooch! You’ve been warned.

Story
Hey, it's me, Snooper! Are you my human? I REALLY love riding in the car and my people. I promise to patrol your yard and keep all the critters at bay. I can be your partner for playing fetch and for a good walk. When it's time for cuddles, I'll paw your hand to make sure I get a pet or two in while I snooze next to you on the couch. These are some of my best photos, before I had to have one of my eyes removed, now I'm a winker! I've been in foster care for over 2 years and would love to find my furever to spend my remaining years with.Interested in adoption? Please read the following: we have an application process, which can be found on our website at www.austincockerrescue.org. We do not adopt outside the state of Texas. You must have an approved application to set up a meeting with a dog--this is done at the foster's discretion. If you have questions regarding the adoption process or a specific dog, please email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org. Phone calls about specific dogs will not be answered, as email is our preferred method of communication. Thank you for your interest!

Story
We love a good comeback story! So we are very excited to introduce you to adorable & adoptable Hoover, who came to us almost completely bald from mange. From the streets to your side — Hoover is finally getting his chance to be someone’s whole world! He’s about 18 months old, full of personality, incredibly sweet, and once his coat grows back in, he’s going to be even more ridiculously cute.He loves a fenced yard and furry friends, but he’s also a total velcro dog! When you come home, expect the happiest little whining welcome—he just misses you that much. He may have a bit of separation anxiety, but so far there’s been no destructive behavior—he really just loves his humans.Hoover is still very much a young dog. He picked up house training quickly with a dog door, but will need help learning a routine without one. He’s still figuring out things like walking nicely on a leash or being mouthy during play. His forever home will need to provide the kind of guidance you’d expect for his age and history. The great news is he’s incredibly in tune with his environment and takes cues from everything around him—especially other dogs. He’s already shown how quickly he can learn by following the lead of a well-adjusted dog in the home.He hasn’t shown any resource guarding—just a normal preference for his space at times, which is completely typical. With his personality, he will do well with other animals and kids with proper guidance.Hoover is the kind of dog who will bond deeply with his people—he just wants love, structure, and someone to stick by his side. He’s already come so far, we can’t wait to see where he goes next! Hoover is heartworm positive and will be treated at CSRA/SA expense at one of our partner vets. He will need a local adopter in the San Antonio or Austin are for this. Interested in adoption? Our adoptions require an approved application. You can find that application on our website. Already approved applicants can email us at woof@austincockerrescue.org
