Story
Bella is back! Bella thought she’d found her forever home but it wasn’t the match she had hoped for so she is back with her foster family. Bella gets along great with her foster family’s dogs and four cats. She wouldn’t mind another dog sibling in her new home. She loves hanging out in the backyard and snuggling at night. She loves walks but needs to work on pulling on the leash – she is so excited she wants to charge ahead. She likes toys and is learning how to fetch. Bella’s main challenge is meeting new people. She barks and gives a growl if they want to pet her before she is ready. Once she feels safe, she happily accepts guests even if they haven’t been over for a month or two. It may take an hour of steadfastly ignoring her while Bella decides her “stranger danger” instincts were an overreaction. Bella’s foster mom instructs people to just ignore her and wait until she is ready for a pet or two. With patience you will get a really sweet little dog. Bella is about three years old, 19 pounds and is completely housebroken. She looks to be a spaniel mix. A calm, patient household would be just the right fit for this little girl. She looks to be a spaniel mix and around 2.5 years oldSeptember 2, 2025, 8:41 am

Since arriving from the shelter, he and his foster have settled into a lovely daily rhythm — and Bookworm thrives in it.   His day begins between 9–10am with his first walk. He takes care of business outside, enjoys a nice stroll, then heads home for breakfast. Around 2pm, it’s time for his second outing and lunch. In the evening — usually around 8pm or a little later — they head out for one last peaceful walk before winding down for the night. With this steady structure, he does beautifully with housetraining and clearly understands the flow of the day.   But while he loves routine, he’s not rigid. He’s adaptable, easygoing, and remarkably easy to live with.   When Bookworm first arrived, he was recovering from illness and understandably low-energy. He was quiet, subdued — clearly not feeling like himself. Once he healed, his true personality unfolded like a favorite novel. He is incredibly sweet, gentle, and soft in every way. He doesn’t bark much. He doesn’t demand attention. He simply wants to be near you.   If you’re at your desk, he’ll settle nearby. If you move rooms, he’ll quietly follow and lie down again. Sit on the couch? He’ll position himself within petting distance and lean in ever so slightly, just in case your hand is available. He’s not pushy. He’s present. There’s something deeply sincere about the way he bonds.   With strangers, he can be a little cautious at first — sometimes standing just slightly behind his person if he’s unsure — but he has never shown aggression. He simply needs a moment to assess, then he relaxes. With other dogs on walks, he is friendly and polite. No lunging, no barking — just social curiosity and good manners. He hasn’t lived with kids in his foster home, but given his gentle nature, calm and respectful children would likely be a good fit.   On leash, he’s a pleasure. He doesn’t pull excessively, doesn’t bark at passing dogs, and often checks in with his person while walking. That attentiveness is very “him” — he genuinely cares about staying connected.   He’s also surprisingly trainable. With treats, he is focused and eager to engage. He’s already learned “sit,” “wait,” and to pause politely before eating. He picks things up quickly because he wants to participate. He wants to understand.   At home, he’s well-mannered and calm. He isn’t destructive. He enjoys digging at his sofa bed before lying down — a small interior design ritual — and if he feels he’s not getting enough attention, he may let out a soft whine. But overall, he’s peaceful and respectful indoors.   And then there are car rides.   Most dogs look out the window. Bookworm looks at you. The entire time. He watches his person drive with quiet concentration, as if supervising the journey or making sure everything is under control. It is equal parts hilarious and heart-melting.   His ideal home? One that offers consistency, patience, and affection. Someone who truly wants a companion — not just a pet. He bonds deeply and purely. Once he feels safe, he gives you his whole heart.   Bookworm is gentle, loyal, trainable, and quietly devoted. He doesn’t need chaos or constant activity. He needs a rhythm. A person. A place to belong.   If you’ve been looking for a steady presence, a soft shadow, and a very sincere best friend, Bookworm is ready to turn the page with you.February 21, 2026, 5:56 pm
